AG is getting a 5/115 extension most likely. 23mil per year.

Payton is getting the 5/75 range. 15mil per year

I think that is fair for both. If they dont want rhis you let rhem walk and taste the market by the end of the season. Not sure if there are going to be many teams willing to offer him max money.

I wouldn't extend payton unless we think Brooklyn thinks Russell is a 2 guard. There's not really a big market for mid tier point guards next season. everyone who needs a point guard just drafted a rookie or doesn't have the money to offer payton a big deal.

Gordon is a better player than Wiggins- Wiggins defense is so bad that he actively hurts the wolves while he is on the court, and while he scores more points he does it an mediocre efficiency.

He will get a higher salary because he scored over 20 points a game last year, but that doesn't mean he is a better player.

ok, we need to pump the breaks here.

Maybe he's trying to move biz or Gordon. Maybe fournier because of his bad shooting last year and his big mouth.

Fournier rebounded pretty well late in the season. ended up shooting fine.

not sure there's much shooting in the backup center department.

Gordon I could buy if Isaac was ready to be a full time PF. I don't see that happening before January.

But ok, lets keep on ****ting on Gordon while we praise Wiggins. The #s speak for themselves. In a season where Gordon played out of position- moving him away from areas he is most effective, he had a lower PER (14.5 to 16.5) basically equivalent TS% (53% to 53.4%), higher ws/48 (.77 to .66), a better box plus and minus (-.7 to -2.7), higher VORP (.8 to -.6). He was not the worst defender in the league.

At the very least I think it should be arguable.

I don't see the need for a typical center any more. Especially if we're going for the fast and long multiple position route.

right, but wiggins has all the tools to be a top defender. he just put too much energy into offense. With Butler as a role model I'd bet that changes significantly.

Wiggins is a better bet to add good defense vs Gordon adding 36% shooting and a couple moves off the dribble.

sure, eventually. but we're talking about 2 months from now. Isaac isn't ready to play center and probably wont be until he's 22 or 23.

oh no

what if Hammond wants to reunite with Brandon Knight?

Knight works but his contract is no bueno. He's not that great but he's different and attainable. If EP doesn't show up, I could see Knight as a deadline target. I actually thought he would've been a target for us sooner, but that was before the notion of waiting and see with this group became the known game plan.

We'd dump DJ and maybe EP too; if not, at least keep EP for backup next year after waiving Mack.

*disclaimer: I have no idea what Knight's stats and analytical values are. I just know he's a scoring PG, that's overpaid, and had a good year in MIL with Bucks.

Hammond's best stretch with Milwaukee was in 14-15 when they were 30-23 before they traded knight and finished the season 11-18. They've never been more than 4 games above .500 since.

what if Hammond misread their decline and thinks Knight was the missing piece (as opposed to MCW just being bad, losing Jared Dudley and Zaza when he was still functional, replacing a defensive minded center with Greg Monroe, etc).
