hypothetically Portland gives up on the lillard/McCollum backcourt. They have 150 million on the books for 2018-2019. so they need to clear like 25 million to get closer to the tax line.

this trade plus picks http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ycnx3ebw gets them below the tax line.

the problem is this would be our lineup through 2020

McCollum-Ross-Simmons-Gordon-biyombo

augustin-Crabbe-Isaac

112 million committed in 18-19 assuming we get a good deal on Gordon

104+ million for this in 19-20: McCollum-simmons-Isaac-Gordon-biyombo

augustin-crabbe

edit: my math might be off here with Portland's money. the 25 million would take them to the cap, not the tax line. I still think they do it so they can resign Nurkic.

would you guys trade payton, Mario, and an unprotected 2018 pick for Bledsoe?

I haven't given much thought to it. I don't know if it's enough. just exploring possible trades.

I'd do it in a second. Get a little excitement back for a Magic season for the first time in forever.

Trades are dependant on AG being the love child of Blake Griffin and Tayshaun Prince, or being a 6'9" Jonathon Simmons

I mean, he's already better than Simmons so...

They are both excellent wing defenders with elite athleticism who shoot poorly from 3. Gordon is better because he has way better size.

Gordon should still progress because of how young he is but we need more than a post ASG sample before we start making major deals.

what are people expecting Simmons to be?

I think we hit a home run if he's basically P.J. Tucker.

Hopefully Tony Allen who can hit 34/35 from 3.

oh I agree.

just Simmons is an excellent wing defender who shoots poorly from everywhere. Our expectations for him should be less than what we saw from Gordon as a whole last year. which is why we got him for so cheap.
