2016-2017 Season Discussion Thread

Random thought: what makes Gordon great on defense is killing him on offense at the small forward spot... his happy, bouncy feet. It's like he's so amped to make a play that he's shuffling his feet and forcing shots. He'd be better served slowing down on offense and letting the game come to him. (Of course, I still wish he was at the power forward spot and able to be more active and bouncy around the basket).

His defense is why Vogel stubbornly keeps him at the SF spot with hopes it click for AG offensively. It's development so we'll see if it's the proper direction in time.

eh, I'd argue the opposite. He's using up a significant portion of energy on the defensive end now chasing guys through screens. When he goes on offense he's making the lazy play with one dribble pull ups instead of going at guys and taking them to the rim.

we had a defensive rating of 86.1 last night. For the season the Spurs are at 108.6 on offense. that's a huge difference.

our offense was still bad at 99.7 but that's at the acceptably bad range that I was expecting prior to the season.

over the last 5 games we're the number 3 defense in the league with a 96 defensive rating

over the last 10 games we're the number 1 defense in the league with a 95.3 defensive rating

over the last 15 games we're the number 4 defense in the league with a 100 defensive rating

over the entire season we're the number 6 defense in the league with a 101.3 defensive rating.

we've only played 4 games against top 10 offenses though. we'll know more in two weeks after we play the Celtics, hornets, and clippers. But holding san Antonio to low numbers in san Antonio is a good sign.

in the last 9 games (the games after Ibaka finally looked good against okc) Ibaka has averaged 16.7 ppg 8 rpg 2.2 bpg on 51/47/94 shooting. when he's on the court we have an offensive rating of 97.5 and a defensive rating of 94. when he's on the bench we have an offensive rating of 88.7 and a defensive rating of 96.5

with Gordon on the floor we have an offensive rating of 101.3 and a defensive rating of 94

I'm happy with ibaka right now. Our defense is amazing, and our offense is serviceable on certain nights and just downright god awful on most nights. Gordon needs to learn from Kahwi how to get to the line -- dude literally went to the line on every possession.

We're just missing that consistent scorer, from the PG and/or SF positions if we had that now we'd def be set for the playoffs.

Agree. We need to get an offensive creator/scorer at the PG spot.

Sam Amick is floating Rudy Gay to Brooklyn. "rumblings" but "nothing firm"

nevermind. he's talking about changing agents to Jay-z's firm, not being sent to Brooklyn.

Matt Moore from CBS is going through last night's game. he noticed our strategy on offense was to put anyone who Kawhi was guarding into the corner and running plays to the other side of the court like he's Richard Sherman or something.

also 1-5 pick and rolls trying to get Parker on Biyombo at the rim.
