There is never a reason to tank.

 

1.) top draft picks are never guaranteed 2.) getting the top draft pick isn't guaranteed for losing

 

You play to win the game. Anyone who purposefully tanks should be removed from the league.

 

Ok so its the last two games of the year and lets say for instance Orlando has the 3rd worse record in the league, but if they drop the last 2 games they can have the 2nd worse record in the league and more ping pong balls for the lottery. Lets also say that this particular draft has a guaranteed draft stud, Im talking a Lebron level franchise player.

 

You dont see the merit in sitting your best players and playing the scrubs instead? That is in fact tanking in a sense because you arent putting your best squad out there. I can understand your logic in not wanting to have the mindset to lose during the year, but if its the last few games and your team isnt going anywhere, I can also see the logic of putting your franchise in a better position especially, if theres nothing on the line.
