Soul Bro Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I think the thread title says it all. For whom can we potentially trade to get Dwight help and have him re-sign? What would it probably take to get said player? Monta Ellis I think it would take some combo that includes Redick and Anderson. Perhaps it would take Nelson and Anderson. Who knows? While Ellis is a bit of a wild card, I'd like to see him in blue and white. Steve Nash Yes, he must dye his hair. Yes, he has crazy eyes ... but didn't T-Mac and Franchise. This one seems destined to happen. Probably take Nelson, Redick and a pick. Paul Pierce Closer. He'd instantly make us a true contender. Probably take a lot (e.g. some combo of Redick, Anderson and picks ... and involving a third team), but I think it'd be worth it. That's it for now. Your list? Quote

No offense to you and I understand your reasoning for picking those players but....as far as Steve Nash and Paul Pierce...I think it's a little too late to acquire those guys. They are just too old for our team to build upon at this point. Injuries and fatique would be the biggest factor. They're both solid players and probably have a few good years left in them, but at this point it's just not about instant gratification but rather to be a contender for years to come. And I'll add that I really don't have a list at this point. I just hope the magic get what we deserve if trading Dwight is the answer to all of this. We still don't know whats going to happen, but it's likely Dwight will be gone at some point this year. Quote
VCplusD12 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Matt Bonner - absolute stud. Good enough to play the backup C, one of the best 3 pt shooters in the game Anthony Morrow - better than J-Rich already, would love him in a package with Deron :) Ian Mahinmi - Been saying it for a long time, but Dallas won't get rid of him Al Jefferson/Paul Millsap - I'd love to get one of Utah's bigs. Would let Ryan go if necessary Jarret Jack - NOLA needs him, though. Andre Iguodala - pipe dream PS: F*** Paul Pierce Quote
Shock Phantom Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I'd give up a lot for Millsap. I'd be interested in Jack if we could get Kaman too. Quote

I like Ellis, but based on what I've seen of Redick/Anderson this season, I'd rather have those two players than Ellis. Ellis is a younger Arenas: a volume shooter. We've already got shooters. Yes, he can dribble penetrate, but that isn't enough to offset what we'd give up in return. I'd love to have Nash and I do think he could still help this team, even in his last years. However, I'd hate to give up Nelson, a pick, AND Redick. Maybe Nelson, a pick, and something else could work? As for Paul Pierce...no way, not for either Redick or Anderson. I'd love him on our team, but not at the expense of any of our young core. Also, I know my latest Fan Voice piece tried to be hopeful, I think Dwight's departure has everything to do with market and nothing to do with what players are here in Orlando with him. Quote

Of course, we all know what happened over there just the season after. Quote

Soul Bro Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 Great points in here. Clearly, the guys I listed are for NOW not later. LOD, given your comment about market size versus winning, it might be a poor decision to add NOW players. Hard to sort out. Quote
