Offseason Thread Part VII: The Fall of The Lockout

Recommended Posts

The Magic have informed teams that Dwight Howard is no longer on the trade market.

This is the second instance of this report being run tonight, but this time with news that it was ownership that killed the deal with Portland. This jives with what Nets reporter Stefan Bondy said earlier, which was the GM Otis Smith had been cut off from the chain of command, at least as it pertained to a potential Howard trade. This also reeks of Stern and his bandit owners trying to show star players who is boss.

God I hope this is all true b/c that's the only way we are getting anything near equal value.

You guys are looking way too far into the media for sure. People need to relax and get ready for the season. Dwight is on the Magic end of story. We have Magic basketball this weekend!! All this negativity is terriblee

Man. I want Dwight to stay as much as the next guy but he's taking this team through an unnecessary roller coaster and maybe we should just trade him.

If we take that Brook Lopez deal though, Otis needs to go and asap.

Well basically the options are either:

A.) Trade Dwight now and get rid of the distraction, as well as a few bad contracts immediately, and start the rebuilding process

B.) Hang on to Dwight and take the chance that he can be convinced to re-sign, but be forced to endure a season full of the media's attention on Dwight
