ThisIsTheYear 241 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 It's two according to PEMDAS. 48/2(9+3) = 48/2(12) = 48/24 = 2. But I suppose that's assuming things should be simple.
BMP 424 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 It's two according to PEMDAS. 48/2(9+3) = 48/2(12) = 48/24 = 2. But I suppose that's assuming things should be simple. PEMDAS really is P/E/M or D/A or S. Multiplication and division/addition and subtraction are essentially one, you do the one that comes first left to right. Besides, multiplication and division, as well as addition and subtraction, are essentially the same thing. Subtraction is the addition of a negative number, division the multiplication of the inverse of the denominator. 48/2(9+3) = 48*0.5(9 minus -3) = 24(12) =
