Netrunner2k2 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 quote: Originally posted by Ramsde68: sigh i dont know why im posting this but.... quote: Though New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul has two years remaining on his contract before he can opt out, his new agent, Leon Rose, who also represents LeBron James, is currently gauging interest from various teams that could seek to obtain him in a trade, according to league sources. Those teams include the Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers and New York Knicks, according to league sources. However, Hornets President Hugh Weber said earlier this week they have no plans to trade Paul. http://www.nola.com/hornets/in...uls_agent_lee_r.html That's about three more pages of material right there. Nice work.
Skywise316 211 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5401230 The above article has my head spinning. This whole thing has my head spinning.. this has gone from Tim Povtak the first time around, to Chris Brussard & Ken Berger this time around (as in, the story seems more credible). However, I think it's definitely time to take a breath. With CP3 meeting the Hornets on Monday, nothing's happening until Tuesday at the absolute earliest. First thing's first, Paul needs to be enough of a malcontent to convince Nola to actually commit to trading the guy. NO front office has been the ultimate road block so far. If Paul pulls it off from his end.. then I think we have the best shot. Probably us and Portland. Speaking strictly as a CP3 fan.. CP3 in Orlando > CP3 in New York > CP3 in New Orleans. CP3'd be better off in NY than NO, but I objectively believe he'd be better off in Orlando than anywhere else. After all, there's only one "Deh-wight." However, the mods need to merge this to the end of the offical Chris Paul Thread and bring it back to the main forum!! Please break the curse of "Page 666," it's the only right thing to do. My 6th Rebuild 6 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 quote: Originally posted by M4G1C: quote: Originally posted by MagicAtic: WOW. I believe now we can get CP3 w/o taking Okafor. CP3 asking to be traded to the Knicks would be foolish because he will not win with Amare. Amare plays zero defense and does not commit himself to rebounding. Plus the Knicks, IMO, to get the Hornets to go for the deal will take Okafors contract. Okafor+CP3+Amare = No Carmelo. We have a chance to get him. We can give them VC and keep Jameer. We can still take Posey off their hands as long as we trade Oton to them so: VC/Orton for Paul/Posey. Trade Machine This also keeps us in contention to be players in 2012/13 FA with Paul and Howard both FA and we may potentially be able to sign a 3rd guy: Carmelo. Jameer then becomes a major trade asset that we can use. To sweeten the deal for NOLA we can throw in the rights to Fran. I believe, like others, him and Rubio will be "Coming to America" together. Go MAGIC!!! BTW: Protland would be a serious threat because they can give NOLA Rudy, Oden, Webster, Bayless, Miller. Can't think of any assets the Lakers and Mavs have tht would make Hornets bite unless they are willing to trade Dirk or Kobe. you do understand that the hornets have all the leverage right now? they don't have to trade cp3 even if he begs them for a trade to orlando. if they do, they'll still most likely make the other team take okafor. cp3 has the least amount of leverage right now on deciding where he goes. and the team trading for him has little leverage in terms of not taking back a bad contract. They had more leverage a few weeks ago when we "could" have taken Okafor and Posey off their hands. Now that Paul allegedly will want out, teams will offer NOLA crap trades. This is why the Mavs and Lakers have no chance in getting him because the Knicks AND Blazers would be willing to take Okafor off their hands. If Otis takes Posey and gives them Orton and the rights for Fran, Paul could be in a Magic uniform. The Magic can offer as much cap cap relief as the Knicks AND we can give prospects and next years pick.
Noonskadoodle17 9 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 Alan Hahn is about to be on the radio talking about CP3 also a lot of CP3 talk in general(from knicks perspective) http://espn.go.com/new-york/ra...=new-york/listenlive
Noonskadoodle17 9 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 Hahn said Knicks getting him is not very likely because not enough assets unless they bring in a 3rd team or unless CP3 wants to play for ONLY the Knicks

Ullan. 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 I don't know if anyone has posted this yet but it's from bleacher report and compares the magic, knicks, and lakers to see which is the better contender over 10 categories. The answer to every single question (according to bleacher) is either NY or LA so their conclusion? Orlando! link
Jareth Cutestory 678 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 quote: 17. Otis Smith, Magic Hired: 2005. Coaches: Brian Hill (2005-2007), Stan Van Gundy (2007-present) Long-term plan: Build a four-out, one-in team around Dwight Howard and Stan Van Gundy, costs be ****ed. Key draft picks: Fran Vazquez (11th, 2005), J.J. Redick (11th, 2006), Courtney Lee (22nd, 2008), Daniel Orton (29th, 2010). Key trades: 2006 season: Traded Steve Francis to the Knicks for Trevor Ariza and Penny Hardaway's expiring contract. 2007 season: Traded Ariza to the Lakers for Brian Cook and Mo Evans. 2009: Traded Rafer Alston, Courtney Lee and Tony Battier to Nets for Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson Key free agent signings: Rashard Lewis in 2007 (six years, $127 million), Mickael Pietrus in 2008 (four years, $24 million), Brandon Bass in 2009 (four years, $16 million), Marcin Gortat in 2009 (five years, $34 million), Matt Barnes in 2009 (veterans minimum), Chris Duhon in 2010 (four years, $15 million), Redick in 2010 (three years, $19 million), Quentin Richardson in 2010 (two years, $7.5 million), Jameer Nelson in 2007 (five years, $30 million) Key free agents let go: Hedo Turkoglu (2009), Darko Milicic (2007), Grant Hill (2007) This is pretty low for a GM who's put together a juggernaut of a team like Smith has, but Smith has also gotten very lucky. It's much, much easier to look good when you have a superstar like Dwight Howard (who Smith inherited) and an owner willing to go deep into the luxury tax to build a winner. If you isolate those two factors, Smith's record doesn't look quite as good. He's overpaid several free agents -- most notably Rashard Lewis, but also guys like Marcin Gortat, Brandon Bass and others. His draft record has been spotty, and many of his trades have not worked out. He has done some good things, to be fair. His faith in Jameer Nelson has been handsomely rewarded, and he was right to pass on re-signing Hedo Turkoglu. But he's also a poster boy for why it's misleading to evaluate GMs based on wins and losses. It's hard to fail when you have Dwight Howard and an owner willing to spend. http://www.sbnation.com/2010/7...kings-pat-riley-heat
