I think a proper analogy of why we are disagreeing is the NFL or NBA Draft.

 

Some GMs go in looking strictly for their biggest needs, while others just want to go for the best player available.

 

I maintain Rick Carlisle is the "Best Player Available."

 

Marc Iavaroni might well fit our "biggest needs" but as Mel Kiper might say, "This is a huge risk here at this point at the draft.. he's got huge upside and huge potential, but still hasn't proven he can get the job done at the next level."

 

Basically, this is a head coach that according to Otis is supposed to bring us an NBA Championship.

 

Call me crazy, but give me the smartest, safest pick. Give me the guy that brought Detroit back to prime time, give me the guy who put the best Indiana Pacers team on the court in the last 20 plus years. Something tells me we'd be okay.

 

Give me Reggie Bush, not Mario Williams. Give me Peyton Manning, not Ryan Leaf. Give me Rick Carlisle, not Stan Van Gundy or Bob Hill.

 

Give me the "Best Player Available."
