It's similar that Carmelo wanted out, and the Knicks were his preferred choice. There was also a whole lot of other things not similar. I think the Magic were willimg to accept the best offer received to be done with the year long drama.

Thanks magicblue you beat me to it. Captain, I was initially disappointed in the trade return at first as well. But when you take into account the limited number of teams we had to work with, and the assets those teams had, I think Rob made the best deal possible. You can't compare what we got vs what Denver got for Carmelo, or what OKC got for Harden, since the circumstances were different.

The Nets and Rockets were also making offers, and supposedly Rob chose the best offer. Using your logic, the Magic received market value for Howard at the time, which could not have been construed as a bad deal.

I wonder if Miami would offer the Philly #1 pick they got for Moultrie to acquire Ayon. They need a big, and their window is this year and next before Wade gets too old.

Don't 1st round picks get guaranteed money for 2 years? Ayon has a $1.5M team option for next year, which is about what the 16th pick makes this year. Ayon is an NBA player, but Royce White may never be.

I thought I read somewhere we had interest in Tyreke Evans. Trade AA for him to get out of the last 3 years of his contract (Evans is expiring). Decide at the end of the year if we want to resign Evans, JJ, or neither.
