    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Henny is playing a high stakes poker game here. Hello, Riles? Henny here. See all those rumors blowing up the internet about D12 going to Brooklyn? Hope you enjoyed your one championship with the superfriends, because I'm gift wrapping the next 5 to Brooklyn. Unless of course you want to send Lebron here for Dwight.

I hope it's more a case of Hennigan trying to bluff the Lakers into sending both Bynum and Gasol for Howard and our bad contracts. We should be able to move Gasol for expirings/draft picks.

Actually the Magic had the best bench in the league last year. Unfortunately we were forced to start 4 of them.

Probably means Philly won't resign Lou Williams.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see DeVos buying into a total rebuild. That will mean empty seats in the new Amway Center and no additonal revenue from playoff games. Since he's still paying Gilbert $20M and paying SVG not to coach, a 2012 nonplayoff team will lose a lot of money. I wouldn't be surprised if Hennigan was told to get the best player he can (Bynum) for D12 so we can make another playoff run in 2012.

Last year at the age of 30 JRich signed a four year extension for $25M. They had a capable replacement in JJ Reddick. This year at the age of 30 Jameer signed a three year extension for $20M. They had an incapable replacement in Chris Duhon. I definitely like the new gm better than the old one.

Never mind, I found the answer about front-loading the contract. You have to be under the cap.

Does anyone know if we can offer Jameer 3 year/$15M where $9M is payable in year one, and $3M payable in years 2 and 3? I seem to recall OKC did something similar with Nick Collison a few years ago, but that was under the previous CBA and I believe they were also under the cap. That would allow the Magic to pay him starter money in 2012 and backup money in 2013 and 2014.

Relax guys, this is just a ploy to extend the Dwight Howard brand. Expect major endorsement on Monday with The Waffle House and Massengill.

With the new CBA, there's no way I'd pay $13M to anyone who wouldn't be a first or second option on offense. That leaves out Josh Smith and Iggy.

Great to see the new gm take the best player available at 19 rather than try to fill a need. Would love to see a s&t Ryno for Thadeus Young and move Turk to the bench.

Have the Rockets shed enough 2012 salary to absorb Turk, JRich, BBD, and Duhon in a trade for Dwight?

A more relevant question might be does Ryan, or any of his Magic teammates, want to play with Dwight after last year's drama?

If those are my choices, I'd rather trade the picks to Charlotte and Cleveland for their 2013 number one draft picks and hope to get lucky in the lottery. MKG and Lillard won't be superstars, but Noel and Muhammad might be.

I think that trade sets up the Wizards to make a number of moves with Nene. Atlanta could offer up Josh Smith, and Milwaukee could trade Monta Ellis. Houston could offer players and picks. Smith and Ellis have shorter contracts than Nene, so even if they don't stay in Washington, the Wizards get cap space after next year.

If Nelson opts out and signs somewhere else, and Anderson gets an offer that Orlando doesn't match, the Magic cap goes from $65M to $54M. Assuming the $1M options of Wafer and Orton aren't picked up, that puts us at $52M. If the cap is $58M, does that mean Orlando can only offer a contract up to the cap, plus vet minimums? We would not be able to offer an MLE, correct? For the amount of money available, we're probably looking at Hinrich, Felton, or Andre Miller to replace Nelson, and vet minimums to fill out the roster.

Hope I have the right thread, just wanted to post a trade idea. Dwight to Houston for Lowry, a signed and traded Courtney Lee, and the two Rockets first round draft picks (currently 14 and 16). I believe Houston would have the cap room to absorb the difference in salary. Based on the latest mock draft from NBADRAFT.net, the #14 pick would be Jared Sullinger, and #16 would be Terrence Ross. They have the Magic taking Terrence Jones with the #19 pick. Ross and Jones might be redundant, so possibly substitute one of the centers (Leonard or Melo). Is there a better deal out there?
