    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

If they get both Asik and Lin; how badly will they even want Dwight? They'll have their "star money maker" in Lin and they'll have in reality 8 million tied up at center already with Asik. And saw someone started a Lakers/Cavs/Magic rumor today; because ya know, Dan Gilbert is really into creating super teams, especially ones in Laker uniforms. Tired of the rumors.

And if we miss Bynum in 2013, and end up picking 5 or later; the Houston deal probably sets us up for purgatory. There's risk either way. There's risk in keeping Dwight here. Not really sure there's a fool-proof answer here.

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Either way, I want a coach who is more patient and trusting in the young players. I think the coach will be hired before Dwight (if he even is) moved. I also wish that David Aldridge wasn't the only person who fact-checked on the stuff he reports. New rumors that turn into nothing every single day are getting really old. It's like BSPiN sits around during breaks and goes through all their previous Dwight Howard trade rumors, changes a couple players, then reports it as a "rumor" or is "imminent". I also hate the word "imminent". It's been used so carelessly and apparently people have forgotten it's meaning as well.

I just want a coach hired. It's been 2 months.

Espn doesn't report. They speculate and throw darts.

Because you just drafted 2 power forwards and have 2 others under the age of 24? It's why, if we planned on flooring out, I don't believe we would've brought Nelson back.

Aldridge touched on this; Scola takes up a lot of cap space in a rebuilding effort and is on the wrong side of 30. Dave even said, he makes LESS sense if they don't get Howard.

ESPiN is corrupt. Really can't trust anything they put out. With blogs and such, the big media markets have become exceptionally paranoid about missing scoops to the "little guy" and are threatened by them taking over the market. That has some to do with why they're so careless. All they care about is being first on an issue so they don't have to credit someone else (even then, they still may take credit). They can say whatever they want because theyre the biggest, baddest kid on the block and can turn back to their ratings, their hits, and the 1 or 2 stories they've actually gotten first and correctly. I find the local smaller publications (not Ping or the OS) to be more reliable because they're closer to the situation and tend to actually give a rats a$$ about reporting. ESPiN's not interested in reporting; they're interested in ratings and hits. They hire personalities. If you want highlights, scores, and entertainment; ESPiN is the way to go. If you want REAL, SOLID news; you're much better off looking elsewhere.

    1) There are very few 27-year-olds who have their whole life figured out (Isnt Dwight 26?) 2) There are very few 27-year-olds who were essentially handed that much money at the age of 18 3) There are very few 27-year-olds or people in general who have agents and advisors and all of that other crap. Dwight needs to grow the hell up and this BS has gotten really old, but I don't think any of us are in a position to relate. How many of us went from not all that much growing up (not totally sure what Dwight's family upbringing was) to being a multi-millionaire because you're really tall with no college education, no time to "grow up". You probably had certain family and friends who you trusted when you were younger because you didn't know what to do. Those are the same people who have "aged" with him and his career. He's 27 and he needs to stand up and speak for himself, but not many 3rd-contract NBA stars seem to be the same people they were after their rookie contracts.

Whether or not this Dwight trade goes down, amnestying Scola was a good move. Too expensive, takes minutes away from the youngins

Francis was fine until we traded his boyfriend for Doug Christie's creepy self.

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Cat, I apologize for my demeanor on here. I believe the information I've been given us good. Until Dwight is traded to Anywhere but LA I'll hold out the belief that I have because where I've gotten it from has been solid so far. As far as thinking my opinion is supeior to others; I don't. I disagree with the notion that Dwight needs to be traded and "getting the best we can" is the optimal route for this franchise. Past speaks for itself; that it's hard to trade up in the draft; especially into the top 2 where the signs point to where you'll need to be to get Mohammed or Noel. I like Zeller more than most but IMO you need an elite wing to put with him. I don't see that potential (I'm lower than you on Lamb) in the Rockets package nor in the free agent field. Harden included. His finals performance really worried me because at ASU I remember complaints about him shrinking. We have 2013 cap space and if Hennigan can move Jason that becomes second Max room. The longer Dwifht is own Orlando (physically in the city with the team) the more the city has grown on him. If I remember correctly someone a while back posted something Otis said about having to re-sell Dwight after every Off season with his "people". If a lot of this is based on money, I also don't see him leaving a new contract here on the table. It's a lot of money. I think a certain point guard leaving Donald Sterling is more likely. So really in both scenarios you have the cap room to have 2 max guys (it would take more work of we kept Dwight) so I guess it comes down to what you see as a greater probability. Dwight re-signing or the Houston players (or who we sign) becoming all-nba caliber players. It's my belief the former is more likely. Again I'm sorry for my behavior here. I just disagree with 99% of you :P

This whole saga just shows how awful Otis was. We have enough fugly contracts that makes people sour on acquiring a top 3 player. Jesus Christ Otis sucked. But can a Rockets fan explain why y'all are upset about losing Scola? What role does he have in that rebuilding effort except clogging cap space next year?
  16. DanA_TBDP

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

except the firing of Stan, Otis not so, the pursuit of josh smith, oh and that Dwight wasn't being traded last week. Other than that, you're right; been off on everything. Edit: let's throw in Hennigan trying to talk to Dwight about staying too.

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Because the NBA is filled with elite 6'8 power forwards.

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

    1) what kind of player do you think Royce White develops into? 2) ditto for Jeremy Lamb 3) and again for Terrence Jones Let's say we pick 6 and 12 next year. Who do you target in free agency? I'm just curious where people see this team going? I just keep thinking Pacer/Hawks/Rockets
  19. DanA_TBDP

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Your Orlando Pacers/Rockets/Hawks. Woopie! Chill out people. The Rockets amnestying Scola is a good move for them either way. He's owed a lot of money to keep them out of the worst record in the league, and really has no part on a rebuilding team. Solid player but terrible spot. Their rookies get more pt, they lose more games, and they have more cap space for the next 2 years. All around great move. Dwight's not being traded any time soon. I know a lot of people want this over now but it's not going to be. Hennigan doesn't want to trade him.
  20. DanA_TBDP

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

And yet he's won more games for this franchise than any player in its history yet having dogturds for teammates. But yes, Rob Hennigan is going to trade one of the three best players in the league because of a tabloid headache? Please. There is no logic behind that.

Circus? Nothing has changed since April. Don't let the media get you so riled up.
  22. DanA_TBDP

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

So tomorrow, the Nets will be in cap hell, the rockets will probably sign their rookies (or soon) and will have an 8 million dollar center on the roster. Aside from media reports (same ones who said Dwight to Brooklyn was a done deal) what is there to lead people to believe he gets traded any time soon? And aliens bro, effing aliens.

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Cat, I have to disagree. Sure some of these guys have talent but I don't see any of them ever being elite. It just seems like we're getting ready to become the Pacers. I don't like the idea of becoming a team that just enjoys the playoffs every year knowing the Heat or Bulls or Celtics are going to beat us in 5-6
  24. DanA_TBDP

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

You can't become a contender without top 3-5 picks. I don't see those in the Houston deal. Plus what has changed since we rejected the Rockets offers 2 weeks ago? Too much being leaked in masse. Something may be up but I'm certain it's not what's being reported.

I hate this logic. "we're tired of being on ESPN so were just going to auction off a top3 player in the nba".
