    2017-2018 Official Season Discussion Thread

I dont see the Lakers doing it knowing that they can get PG in the offseasonwithout giving any other asset unless they want to sign another star caliber player and need to open more cap space. I do think OKC might do it as long as picks are included(not necessarily 1st rounders). They are getting decent talent in return for just Adam. PG13 might just walk away. I think Clarson is ok but I rather go for a Point guard in the draft. He is better that Payton but not necessarily a staring caliber PG. I like Adam tho.

Do you think Houston will be kind enough to trade us Capela and Anderson for Vuc and Fournier?

That is the reason why I dont like to use that stat to evaluate how good a player is or could be. You cant just put * after each select player to justify their poor numbers. Efficiency numbers on players can also be influenced by how they are used and how much time they spend in court. Someone that plays 10mpg vs 35mpg cant be meausured equally. Like you well said. Someone that is a 3rd or 4rd option in a team can't be meausure equally as they will get less touch. Oladipo was a good example. He played a different system at Orlando and Oklahoma and now in INdiana he is extremely efficient. What is Vuc number? I am sure he will likely be at the highest in the league for a Center. Yet, as a team player, he should be below average at his best. Also If I go with Lonzo Ball and Smith Jr. efg% this year then I will have to conclude that they are likely to be busts?

I will love to see that rotation but I still think we need to go with something like: DJ/Fournier/Mario/AG/vuc payton/simmons/Isaac/Biz

Sure. Just like you cant also use a stat to measure specific efficiency on a player when the team is struggling and plane simple bad. i like measuring how efficent is a 911 porsche driving on ice roads.

It is how much a team trust a player to run a play for him. How valuable this player is for a specific team.

Yes! But I dont like efg% at all . I like the usage rating more. This is how much a team trust a player to run a play for that specific player. Dunn has a solid 25.6%. Above average amont PG’s. To get you an idea how good it is: usg% Payton: 19.4 Ball: 17.5 Dragic: 25.7 walker: 26.7 Rubio: 22.9 Dinwiddie: 20.7 Collison: 16.9. Smith Jr: 29.3(wow) westbrook: 33.8(amazing) curry: 30.8(incredible) Wall: 28.3(expected to be higher) I didnt want to look for more but you get the idea. So yes, he is a solid young PG.

I will not completely disagree with your opinion in regards the Magic and Denver trade views as that could be debatable but the Dunn statement is completely wrong. He is averaging 13 ppg 5 assist 5 rebounds and 2 steals per game on 28 minutes per night. That is really good in my book. He is not all star material but good nevertheless. when I presented the trade I was not only thinking about this season sinceThere is a great chance we will not be making the playoff this year. I was thinking about the cap situation and ways we can allow new management make their own move and clean house. Our cap space will be better with this move. but is ok. We can move on to other options. It was just one possible option.

I dont know why you can say that since We can’t be worse than what we currently are. I disagree with you here. I like Barton a lot. Extremely aggressive in the defensive end and doesnt mind to be the 3rd or even 4th offensive option. I give Barton an edge over Fournier and he only gets paid 3.5 million per year. Mudiay and Dj is a wash for me. Still, I think Mudiay running the point in a different team is what he needs. Just like Dunn is doing now with Chicago. Also better contract situation at 3 million per year. Faried is the key here. Great energy guy who can play 4 and 5 off the bench on a contract friendly at 13 per year til 2019. He can play next to Vuc and AG as he doesnt look for outside/3 point shots.

Magic @ Pistons (Early game 4pm)

We need to get rid of PAYTON FIRST. The issue is that he has absolutely no trade value. I see VUC and Fournier going out the door first. They both are in a contract friendly position for another team to take.

Although I will love to see that I am not getting my hopes too high. All that Mario really did today was to increase his trade value. I just dont see this Organization keeping him as long as Vogel is our coach.

I will do the Fournier, Biz and DJ for Adams and PG. Payton, PG,Isaac,AG,Adams Mack,Simmons,Afflalo,Speights,Vuc. I know PG will likely walk away after the season but this trade will give us a chance to get us into the playoff and more importantly, will give the Orlando fans a chance to root for a star player even if it is just for a few months. If PG walks away then we will not longer need to worry on Biz, Fourner and DJ contracts. We will be on a better cap position for the 2018 free agency. OKC will likely loose Paul George after the season and with this trade they will get a secure contract on Fournier in return. They will also get a decent and very needed back up point guard in DJ. Biz is not Adams but will still give them the very needed rim protection. Russell,Fournier,Carmelo,Robertson,Biz.

that trade is not making us better now and will worsen our cap space situation for the near future. OKC will love it and LA might do to it just to open the cap space even more. I just dont see how a lineup(taking Isaac out due to injuries and rest) of Clarson, Simmons, Iwundu, Gordon, Adams is any better than our current Payton, Simmons, Fourner, Gordon and Vuch lineup?

Portland Trail Blazers @ Orlando Magic

is it me or Frank doesn't really run any plays. It appears as it is all about either Fournier or Simmons creating. I always see the same thing. Payton driving the ball, passing it to either Evan or Simmons, Pick from Vuc for the pick and roll and let them figure it out from there. No post game at all.

Ehh.. debatable. JK. This is if we really considering to tank. My point was not really about the players but the contracts. Some people cant get pass the numbers but this is how people around the league value our players. If we are making moves is to have the 2018 or 2019 free agency in mind. Im sure new management wants to do a complete clean out and get off of some of those big contracts. This move will open our cap space for both the 2018 and 2019 free agency. I am expecting for Vuch to be moved as well. I agree with you. We will be worse this year but we might have a chance to be better in 2018 or 2019.
