Cousin was not possible. It would it involved several first round picks as well as Gordon. I think Oladipo for Ibaka was a fair deal. Heartbreaking, but fair. The 11 pick was going to be a rotation player anyhow and the Z pick was a good one. I think Z can be as good as Sabonis.

    2016 NBA Draft Thread

This is what im hoping ito happen in free agency: 1. Get Horford!: the idea of having Horford and Ibaka playing together is amazing. We have to guys that can play defense and could score if needed. This duo will be a matchup hell for other teams in the east. Vogel will be very happy with that duo. 2. THe need to get another player in free agency that can score. I think we can now change our look in free agency and look for a proven SG/SF star. Names to consider are: Beal, De Rozen or even maybe Barnes as SF. 3. Trade Vuc!. Trading Vuc for a star wind player and go for a guy like Conley. Memphis seems to have an idea already that conley is leaving. They draft yesterday what seems to be their future PG.Maybe they will consider a sign and trade for Vuc considering Gasol injury seems to be serious enough to risk next season or likely a career ending one. Maybe a 9 player rotation like: Payton/watson Beal/mario Fournier/gordon Horford/Gordon Ibaka/Z This will be an ideal roster with freat shooter and great rim protection. The only problem here is how healthy can this roster stay for the full season.

Ok. I Reacted in displeasure soon after the trade happened. I am the first to admit that my reactions were based on emotions. I always liked Ibaka and I hope that this is not the end of moves for the Magic. I just cant see( with current roster) how this move make us better now. My major concern is that Henny is known of repeating himself about the "trust the process" "be patient" "like our young core" etc... He has traded 2 of the top offensive players in our team in the past 6 months. One of those guys was our 2 round pick after The DH saga. A guy he said that likely will be the face of our rebuilding process. We have traded Harris, Oladipo and our first round lottery pick for a one year rental of Ibaka and cap space. Now, we have to wait and see what we do with our cap space. All this moves will depend on what he does with that cap space. Saying that, I have always been a great fan of IBAKA. He is a great defender with good offensive skills. When Ibaka became available I was kne that wanted him badly and if you look back i wanted the magic to go after him and i though a trade of Fournier(sign and trade) and #11 was a good deal. Well.. Instead of fournier we gave them oladipo so i guess the team think Fournier is more ready for that starting SG position. So I have to be ok with that. I think our second round pick selection was very good.

I get that but oladipo was our best offensive player behind Fournier. We traded Harris a couple of months ago as well. We have cap room that likely will not be used. We might have to overpay players to fill roster. I have not seen yet a move from Heeny that i feel excited about. We need to get rid of Vuc now. It doesnt make sense to keep him now when we have Gordon and Ibaka. Gordon is not good at SF. We need an offensive minded SF. And also There is a very high posibility that Ibaka will leave after this year.

We dont know him well. Still raw and not much offense seen from him yet. I just dont see him as a starter yet.

I see why the Magic didnt want to throw a draft party this year. They would it destroy the arena once they heard about this trade. I am a big fan of ibaka but giving our best ofensive player away like that doesnt make sense. We have no Offense at all!!! There has to be another trade coming. Hopefully Butler, bledsoe?? We need to trade vuc for sure. If we can sign horford then i willl be happy. But offensively we have nothing.

Well we are now below chicago and atlanta at number 11 in the east with this move. This is as our statting five looks: Payton Mario Gordon Ibaka Vuc Not even one offensive threat in this team with a still below average defense. I ti see us just slightly better than Brooklin. Honestly, we went backward with this move. Ibaka will leave next year and we will not have any further valuable asset to trade next year. No pick either. There has to be something else going on. This does not make any sense at all. None.

Meh?? That is a good roster. Not great but much better than what we have for sure. Batum is a really great defender that can improve our team defense. unfortunately, i dont see him leaving charlotte. Horford should be our priority considering our chances of getting someone else. So if we get a combination of Batum, Horford, Noah, Ariza and Bev I will be very pleased. And yes, i will consider trading Vuc and Watson if we can land those players.

No way I will trade vuc and watson for ariza and bev. Im not sure the salary march either. Watson is better than bev in my opinion and Vuc is way more better and valuable than Ariza. I will be willing to trade vuc to the lakers for clarson( sign and trade) instead.

If all it takes is a late first round then I will do #11 and watson for Noel.

True. Im just hoping we trade Watson and Shabazz before or during draft night. Then, just the. We can look into exploring this deal.

    2016 Off-Season Thread

Yes. It appears as a GOOD second rounders will be able to have their agents work on their contracts according to the new cap which could be higher than late first rounders. Meanwhile, they never changed the standard salaries that current first round players are getting which has remain the same for the past years. This will make first round picks more valuable this year as their salaries will be a steal in years to come. Not sure if this will be adjusted for next year draft.

I will take jeremy lamb and the 22 any day. He can be a great player coming off the bench. I will consider that a good FA signing and his salary is not that bad. Currently at 7 million per year. In fact, Hawes salary for this year is at 5 mill per year and likely a free agent(player option) after this year. I will likely take both. Hawes is also an upgrade as a back up PF/C. Over Smith and AN. So if they are asking for one or the other then Hawes will make more sense as it is only for one year but i have been always a good fan of Lamb.

So im a little confused with this year draft and salary. If I'm UNDERSTANDING this well, there is a likely possibility that 2 rounders will likely be earning more in salary than first rounders? Ussually a second round salary is not guarantee and when you work out a deal with a team it is ussually a 1.9% of the salary cap? Meanwhile, the stipulated salary for a late first rounder is fixed and guarantee for their rookie years. If this is correct, Players after pick 20 and above rather be drafted in the early second round than late first round. That means are second round picks likely will be dealt or a will be used to draft an international player just to avoid the cost. Maybe trading the 2 second rounders for a late first rounder will make more sense. Maybe someone can help clarify this?

I am not opposed to that as long as we keep our core of young players. I think Horford and Parson are really good players that will makes us better.Noah is a serviceable bench player that will play with heart. We need that. Honestly there are not many players available and is not that Star players are looking forward to come to Orlando. PAYTON DIPO PARSON/MARIO HORFORD/GORDON VUC/NOAH It is Not the perfect scenario but Not bad either. We can be a top 5 team in the east with that roster. As we saw earlier today, new york and indiana maked some moves that already maked them better. If new york decides to Also sign Dwight then I will consider them an easy top 3 team in the east for sure. I think we need to be as aggressive as ee can to be able to make it to the next level.

After this finals, my impression of Barnes changed drastically. I dont even think he is a 15 mill per year player. I honestly dont think he will be any better than Harkless. I might be over-reacting a little but this finals performance were mediocre to say the least.

That is exactly who i compared him to as well. Slightly more talented Moe. I see Moe putting very similar numbers if he play next to klay and Curry. Maybe im wrong but my point is that he is worth no more than 16 per year. Then again I see some teams desperately offering the 20 per range.

    2016 Off-Season Thread

After reading my response. I did modified my post thinking that was what you intended to say. I though you meant both getting less. I might see Barnes getting close to max money( big mistake) but honestly I dont see it on fournier. I still think 16 will be the ceiling on Fournier
  22. magicdoc1

    2016 Off-Season Thread

And what is your point? I think that is what i said. I dont see anything funny about it. I said Fournier was younger. My impression from the poster i responded was that he believed Barnes was younger. When it come to your 2nd point in your post; you seems sure about neither getting 16 per year. ( which i am in agreement that neither should get that) but just because you say doesnt mean is going to happen. I dont know why you want to correct my statement. Maybe you know something i dont know but the way i see it, both will get more than 15 per year. Unless, of course, you believe that both will be getting way above the 16 per year which then i will firmly disagree with you. Why dont you LOL instead the posters that are estimating Barnes getting the max?
  23. magicdoc1

    2016 Off-Season Thread

No way. I dont think any of the two deserve more than 16 per year. Fournier is younger. I rather pay 15 to 16 per year on Fournier than 20 per year on Barnes. I dont think he will flourish in any team other than Golden State. He is a 12-15ppg and 6-7 rbg type of guy. Very similar to Fournier. Now, if we can get either at around 16 per year then i will go with Barnes due to his height and defense.

DH12 return to Magic? Is this even valid?

I Agree with you. We have a perfect guy in Gordon than can play PF and can guard big guys. if we can just get a guy like Horford then we will be all set.
