From what I’m seeing we were 8-9 in the first quarter. Were 9-10 at one point then Ingles missed the technical free throw we got from the Niang BS and it was all downhill from there.

At least we’re not a team overpaying a big 3 that just got blown out by 25 on the road. I think we take game 2. Just have a feeling. I don’t think a lot of our struggles today had much to do with what Cleveland did and was more on just us needing to be better

What’s worse with the free throw shooting is we started 11-12 I think, and in the second half when we were trying to come back is when the bricks started. Hit 8-18 to end the game if my math is right. It was especially noticeable in the 3rd when we cut it to 4 and then Paolo, Franz and Jalen bricked like 5 freebies in a row.

I didn’t like Mosley’s rotations tonight. You can’t play 10 guys in the playoffs unless all 10 guys can play. Fultz, Cole and Ingles were AWFUL. We can’t run an all bench lineup. One of Paolo or Franz needs to be in the game at all times.

32% from the field
21% from 3
63% from the line
That’s as bad of a shooting performance as you’ll ever see. Get back to the lab and be better Monday.

The guards have killed us tonight. Combined 3-29. Harris, Fultz, Cole combined 0-16. We can’t win like that.
Only 11 turnovers, Paolo has freakin 8 of em lol

Gotta love when the refs change how they’re calling the game in the 4th quarter. Cavs have gotten some soft whistles all of a sudden..
-
Feels like Cleveland has gotten every bounce and every 50/50 ball tonight. That’s not gonna happen all series

A lot to overcome in this one, but there’s some good stuff to build on too. Best of 7 not best of 1. Get the jitters out and keep playing hard

Yeah, Hawks probably would’ve been better off if he didn’t come back this year. 0-4 and got spanked in every game. Chemistry on that team is awful and they need to make a move and Trae needs a change of scenery, but that contract is brutal. It will lower what Atlanta is able to get back for him. My opinion is I think Trae is too risky to the locker room to take a chance on, we don’t need another guy thinking he’s Batman, we need another Robin that’ll happily play off of Franz and Paolo, Trae isn’t that guy.

Since I already prepared a game thread starter for the playoffs, do you want it to be designated as for game 1 (only) of the first round--meaning, show a date, time, and place for game 1.
Please tell me specifically what to do. I will understand if you want a dedicated game thread starter for each game separately. I can also understand if you want it to be left open for everyone who wants to do one.
I will be out of town for the entire month of may and I won't be able to do anymore after the opening thread.
Let’s do a per game game thread to start. If game 2 gets here and there’s not another specific game thread for it we can pivot and just make it the round 1 thread

We pulling for the Sixers or the Heat? I’m pulling for the Heat even tho it feels dirty. I want Philly and Boston to beat the crap out of each other before we play them

I mentioned that I have prepared a Game Thread Starter for the start of the Magic's playoffs series against the Cavaliers.
I thought about how many threads that have already been posted about 2024 Playoffs Discussions, including the one I posted after the Magic clinched a playoff spot (Titled: Orlando Magic Makes The 2023-2024 Playoffs! Celebrate!)
In my opinion, both threads had the same intent (ie, to discruss the playoffs). The one I posted was not needed because most participants were posting comments in the other thread (2024 Playoffs Discussions).
My question is: Should I not post the Game Thread Starter that I prepared for the Magics' opening game for the playoffs on Saturday, April 20th? My concern is that when game 1 starts, there will be posters who will be posting comments about the actions of the April 20th game in the 2024 Playoffs Discussions thread.
I would like to know if the dedicated "Official Playoffs Game Thread" is not needed.
As a matter of fact, we only need one game thread starter for the entire Series of Round 1 in the playoffs. A few hours before each game starts, All Eyes or someone else can post information for the next game--about who or what--in the Official Game Starter that I prepared.
After the Magic wins Round 1, then a new dedicated grame thread starter will be needed for Round 2 because the Magic will play against a new team. ;)
I think this thread should be specific for talking about the playoffs in general, not just Magic.
I don’t hate the idea of having a game thread per round for us, but I’m also more than open to a game thread per game if people are willing to put in the work to make game threads. I’ll keep an eye out and pin as needed but I don’t really have a preference in how we do things as long as it stays somewhat organized.

Might need to pay him to keep him.
I think GH’s injury history concerns me. If he balls out like you’re suggesting in the playoffs , I’d keep him in mind as a backup plan if going hunting for a bigger fish fails, but I wouldn’t pay him a lot long term. The off-season is going to be interesting. There’s a few obvious guys with guaranteed spots, but I’d say at least half the roster is available via trade if an opportunity presents itself.

Zion had a great game, but story of his career where he disappears with a random tweak in a tie game when he’s needed most. He’s either too fragile or too soft to be the prince that was promised that he was supposed to be.

We have a game time! Magic vs Cavs will be the first game of the playoffs at 1 PM EST on Saturday. Let’s go!!

Ya know with all of the struggles of the past couple weeks for the team, honestly I think we got the best matchup for us. Only thing I’d change is turning one of the results around so we had homecourt, but I’d rather be playing Cleveland I think than any of the other playoff teams (minus Chicago and Atlanta obv) in the East.

Game 1 game thread starter for the April 20 game is ready. Do you or a mod know the start time? I can't find it. That is the only thing left to be included. I won't post it too early.
Thanks for the 'safe travels' comment Jay. I needed to hear that.
Game time hasn’t been announced yet, just date. I think the league is waiting for the play-in tournament to decide the best matchups to air at prime time. If I had to guess, I’d bet we’re the early game on Saturday based off how the league has treated televising us this season. I’ll post as soon as I see game time announced, as I’m sure others will too. I’ll pin the game thread as soon as I see it posted if CT or Soul don’t beat me to it.
Safe travels and enjoy your time at the vacation home!

Nope, dates have been announced but no times for any game yet. I’m sure they’re waiting on the play-in. I’d expect some times to get solidified tonight after we know who the 7 seeds are. League is licking their lips at a potential Nuggets vs Lakers and Celtics vs 76ers first round.
-
Saying this as someone who is no longer a local and isn’t going to the games. The Magic dropped the ball on playoff prices. Nosebleeds are triple in Orlando than what they’re selling them at in Cleveland.
-
We can definitely beat Cleveland, and then we’ll probably either get swept or have a gentlemen’s sweep vs Boston in round 2 if we do. My prediction for the East is no drama in the play-in. 76ers win and are the 7 seed, Heat beat the Bulls to get the 8 seed. Then I’m going chaos.
Boston over Miami in 5
Orlando over Cleveland in 6
Philly over New York in 6
Indiana over Milwaukee in 7
Conference Semis
Boston over Orlando in 5
Philly over Indiana in 5
Conference Finals
Boston over Philly in 7
I don’t have the strength to do my West predictions yet lol, but I’ll get there

Moment was a bit too big. Our defense was great, our physicality was great, our offense was garbage, couldn’t make a shot. The backcourt killed us on offense. Suggs was the only one who made a field goal. Moe and Jalen were great irritants. Kelle’s flagrant was pretty damn soft to be honest. Niang on the break off a steal and Fultz led with his shoulder and kind of charged him while going for a steal.
