overall had a rough game, but it’s kinda like Turkuglo. Franz kinda turns up in the 4th quarter. And he did in this game as well. But he has to start being that star player imo and be dominant all game. For germany, he rarely creates, he doesn’t rebound. On offense he isn’t dominant. He doesn’t use mismatches too much, he doesn’t ball handle too much and he doesn’t look to score too much. He could be so much better

Canada had a terrible first half. They looked really uncomfortable playing FIBA. Especially SGA was lost. He forced things and they didn’t make team plays. Another thing noticeable. D. Brooks was booed from the start of the game. German crowd didn’t appreciate him at all. And Brooks was provoking the whole game. Crowd and also players. I just don’t understand why somebody likes to live that way.

It's amazing that we say "Franz wasn't dominant" and yet he's the highest scorer of the game. Perhaps he just needs to impose his will more? Or maybe he only takes over when he feels like he has to? No one likes playing with a ball hog and it feels like Franz genuinely wants to play team ball and only looks to score in the rhythm of the game as he sees it.

  2. So I'm looking at this USA team and I'm thinking... surely this isn't our Olympus Team for 2024... but can they add guys down the road?

Some names that aren't on the team:

    • Kevin Durant
    • Jayson Tatum
    • Damian Lillard
    • Devon Booker
    • Jimmy Butler
    • Jamaal Murray
    • Steph Curry
    • Deandre Fox
    • Evan Mobley
    • Bam Adebayo

and the list goes on. I mean, we have Josh Hart, Bobby Portis, Cam Johnson, and Austin Reaves on this team. That's not to say they're bad but how do we have them on the Team USA roster and not on the Select Roster?? I mean.. we have 2 ONE TIME ALL STARS (Halliburton and Edwards) on our team AND THAT'S IT!

Someone please tell me we're just playing these guys for the qualifier and that the reinforcements will come next summer...

  3. Let's play a scenario:

Paolo, Wagner, WCJ, and JI are all fully healthy and all are improved, including JI's shot is still falling at a good clip.

Do we keep JI and Cole as the two-headed monster coming off the bench?

Do we start Wagner / Isaac at SG/SF and have 7'0" Isaac guard the SG of the other team?

I've thought about best case scenario from where we know Isaac can be when he's heathy and I just can't imagine us keeping him on the bench or limiting his minutes outside of continuous concern of re-injury.

  4. Regardless of your political opinions, I think large organization like the NBA or NFL should stay out of the commercial political contributions sphere. Have the owners open up a personal private money scheme to throw at a candidate, sure, but don't do it through a big channel like your sports team, which only can further divide a locker room or fanbase.

Spurs at #2 is hilarious. They have literally NO ONE else but Wemby. Let him play a season first before vaulting this group of no-names to such a high ranking.

Rockets I'm fine at #4 ahead of us as their overall talent is so deep. With that being said, I'm curious to know if their pieces will be able to cohesively work together.

OKC shouldn't be #1. Memphis is #1 right now. OKC might be #1 with a healthy Chet, but even with him, you have SGA who can score and... Jalen Williams and Giddy? Come on now.

If no one says anything controversial (basketball related only), I’m afraid this board will be dead for another two months, barring some shocking development ( Magic moving to Taiwan?)……

This happens every year, my guy. Relax and we'll all generally reconvene sometime in late September. Lol

Kevin Durant's release point is so ridiculously high. Paolo is 6'10" and the man looks like he's shooting from his shoulder in comparison.

Happy P5 is working out hard, but please, please keep KD out of his ear. The man has such a me-first god complex that I want no part of in any team I root for.

But we'll be in the same position at some point. Let's hope they develop and they really deserve those crazy numbers.

I think we'll give it to Paolo if he develops like we hope he does. I see the Magic brass trading someone who wants a crazy amount of money that isn't going to be "worth" it. I would even argue to Boston "who else is going to give Brown that type of money?" If he's truly untradeable now because no one would take that contract... why would they give him that contract as he couldn't find it anywhere else? Seems like bag negotiating to me.

Jaylen Brown just got 5 years $304 million…. No thank you

I just don't think Jaylen Brown makes THAT much of a difference. But the Celtics are also going nowhere if he walks and they only have Jayson Tatum with no Brown, Smart, or Williams.

Brown/Tatum will keep the Celtics in the playoffs (and potentially into at least the 2nd round) for the next 2-4 years. Without him they were a fringe playoff team. Their problem is now they don't have the cap availability to do ANYTHING else to build around these two guys.

He seems very self centered on the court, and his negative assist to turnover rate is telling.

I think it's one of those things that Bol believes he should be a bigger part of the offense than he is. When he got the ball, he was primarily looking to find a way to score, and routinely made bad decisions on the offensive end. In some ways, I think Bol and RJ are the same type of player - very skilled athletically but don't know how to make good decisions when playing 5v5.

Bol wants to be KD in so many ways, so I hope that Bol playing with KD unlocks something in him to help him take that next level. However, I think if there was something there, Magic wouldn't have just let him walk and would have given him playing time towards the end of the season.

Admiral has no upside whatsoever he’s a fringe G league player at this point at 24 years old. We could do much better using the roster spot on a younger player who has upside. The only thing we should be relying on our 2 way contracts for is to develop a couple of players who can grow organically and already know the teams system/schemes in case we get hit with injuries.

Admiral is a selfless, hard-working, team-oriented guy who it feels like is always happy to do whatever dirty work is asked of him with a good attitude. You WANT a guy like that at the end of your bench. He's not trying to get minutes to prove he belongs and then will make detrimental plays if he gets playing time.

He knows who he is, plays within himself, and executes with a team-first attitude. 95% of G League guys will never see consistent NBA minutes, so if you're building for depth, this is EXACTLY the type of 2-way player you want.

Only way Suggs is getting PG minutes is if somebody gets hurt …Fultz will get majority of PG minutes …AB is gonna get minutes or at least I think he will …probably a little bit of everywhere …Cole flourished in 6th man guard off the bench …which leaves Harris and Suggs battling for 2 guard minutes …looks to me like Suggs getting less minutes …makes sense to me

I think Suggs takes that next step and and starts at SG. He brings a lot more to the table than Gary Harris does (+defense, +passing, +athleticism, +leadership) while the only thing Harris has on him is shooting. If Suggs increases his 3PT % at a good tick like he did from Year 1 (22%) to Year 2 (32%), you can bet he'll get the starter minutes and Gary Harris, whom has an expiring contract, is the odd man out. I think Suggs just needs to get up to 36% for him to take over the SG spot. If anything, we're keeping Gary Harris as insurance because the biggest question mark has always been Jalen's ability to stay healthy.

  13. The fact is that we have a 10 man rotation of guys almost entirely under 25. We are betting on ourselves to be better than Washington and Phoenix in 3 years, and we'd much rather have whatever talent we can get in the last 1st round than 3 late 2nd round picks.

With paying Franz and Banchero, as well as Fultz and whoever else, we're going to need some good young picks to fill in the holes because we're about to have zero cap room in 3 years.

It’s not just shooting well, it’s having confidence in your shot and willingness to take the shot you have. I’ve seen multiple times when he refuses to take the shot given to him. EP 2.0.

This has been my concern for a while. The hope is, unlike Payton, he can develop a shot which the jury is very much out on. VERY possible though.
