Trey make the bet but put 85 dollars..

    50 was your original amount

    35 represents our anniversary year..

    Do it...

I love it! Odds have gone up dramatically. We were at Vegas expected to be one of the worst teams in the league with +34000 odds. The multiplier was big enough to take a flyer if I felt we took all the right steps forward.

I'll be happy if we win just generally, but I think we - like the young Magic of '95 - will need a bit more seasoning before we take the title.

    I'm so sad seeing this.

Why? Because I wanted to put $50 that Magic would win the NBA Championship this season. Payout would have been something like $15,000K. I was told by even my friends who were casual Magic fans it wouldn't make sense and I was just wasting my money.

I don't know if we will actually win a championship, but man would it be fun.

Way too early to be dreaming about trade deadline stuff but imagine if we could swing Alex Caruso

If I've learned one thing about this magic leadership, it's that unless they are blowing up the team, they rarely make a trade for a guy who will impact the team and perhaps disrupt locker room chemistry.

if anything, I see them trading away someone like Markelle Fultz or Jonathan Isaac for something crazy like 2 2nd round picks because there is a better opportunity for them and we want to honor their wishes of a better opportunity for themselves. Not that I think they would, but I just don't see us trading 3 guys for a big name when we have been so focused on organic growth for so long.

Jokic is the definition of unstoppable

His touch is just so good around the rim. He's such a defensive liability (we scored 3 straight times with guys on him), but on offense, you really just can't stop him with his first step, touch around the rim, and ability to hit the open man. 8 of 9 points for Denver in the quarter.

  5. Our team is good, don't get me wrong. But 4 games ago some of y'all were calling for Mosley's head (I was in that camp). I'm still not convinced we won't continue to have games where we struggle on offense, but our swarming defense at the very lease feels like it's going to keep our guys in the game.

WCJ makes us better as much as Goga has been great. He's better on offense, is pretty good on defense, and gives us a stretch shooter (though he admittedly stands out there a bit too much for a big man IMO). I think it's a GREAT problem to have that we are so deep we don't know who to not give minutes to.

He is very very good. I still think Paolo was the right guy for what we need though. Still have to worry about Chet’s injury history also. The Thunder are absolutely loaded.

I am as well. I think there's a good chance he plays three out of the next five years while young at an elite level and then continues to have injuries in his late 20s derail the rest of his career. His body, built like it is, just can't hold up.

so I'd still rather have Banchero for a solid 15 year career slightly below maybe Chet's ceiling.

  7. I think I'm of the opinion that Mosley isn't our coach next year if we don't make the playoffs and we'll go after a coach who has a track record of success in the playoffs (I'm think Mike Budenhozer). Just my gut. This team clearly has all the pieces to be something and the time for a 2nd round playoff push should be next year.

  8. Honestly, we don't need the costly contract of Zach Levine. It's pretty simple - we need PG'a/SG's who can shoot and are willing to play good team defense.

Thats it. The floor needs to be opened up for Franz / Banchero to work and kick out if need be.

I love Fultz and Suggs as playmakers (particularly Fultz), but if neither can crack 36% from 3, they aren't the starters to go alongside our young duo.

  9. The guards got a little sloppy in the end, but in reality, the Nets just shot light out those final 10 minutes. Not much you can do when they make 3's even under good defense. We came to play and just couldn't close.

And of course, Dinwiddie absolutely murdered us yet again. It doesn't matter what team the guy is on - he just takes pleasure of putting up 25+ on us to far exceed his average seasonal output.

The Houston Rockets have won 6 games in a row including beating Denver last night. We may have played them at the right time.

They're jelling. I wasn't a believer that they could work, but it's a decent balance. Their books are not going to be great in 2 years with what they paid Brooks and VanFleet, but right now, they look to have a good balance of athletic defense, shooting, and unselfishness. I don't know they get past the 1st round in a 7 game series, but they definitely look like they fit together a lot more than initially thought.

Don't know if we have to make compliments to the coach to make the obvious right move (after a lot of missed adjustments that cost us in the past games) he's paid for that. :)

Overall, our record is clearly great if compared with last season, but we're still a team with a lot of ups and downs, and that's quite normal given the age. Apart from the coach, I miss a leader inside the team, that guy able to raise the performance and attention of the rest of the group and avoid some of the downs. If asked who's the leader right now, I would be unable to answer.

This will be Paolo. All reports indicate that he is fiercely competitive, even if he comes off as rather unenthusiastic in interviews. It gives me (not to double up on the example above) Tim Duncan vibes. The question will be if the team follows him in his "lead by example" style when he finally hits that next step of having the full trust of his teammates to take over the game and not blow it (like Atlanta).

Y’all, AB can ball! Can’t believe he’s already playing this well this quick

I think the most incredible thing is that he only really started playing basketball in ninth or 10th grade. If you read about his story, he was a four or five star high school wide receiver, but he found by the time he was a senior he was just enjoying playing basketball more.

The only other story I can think of where someone started playing competitive basketball so late was Tim Duncan, whom never touched a basketball before he was about 15 (he was a swimmer beforehand). It just shows that high IQ mixed with great athleticism and a competitive nature overcomes a lot.

This. The guy could be a really solid player if he just realize his role. He seems to think he's back at UNC, where he was the guy.

Disagree with you here, Shine. Cole shot A LOT less tonight (0-3) because he saw other guys were hot and adjusted accordingly. I think Cole has grown leaps and bounds in the last 2 years in terms of his decision making / maturity and has fully embraced his 6th man role.

One more thing while it's on my mind. I've been a big Fultz believer for a long time but I think it might be time to move on.

There was a possession in that second half where Fultz had a ludicrously wide open 3 point shot off a kick out from Paolo and he dribbled into a contested 18 footer that he missed. You just can't win with your PG doing things like that, for all the good he offers.

Like sure Anthony Black at present doesn't space the floor, but at least when he's open in the corner he's taking them. And so far he's making them. And if he keeps that up consistently teams will at least close out on him hard in the corner and give us a little more space in the paint.

Markelle doesn't even look at the rim from 3 95% of the time.

I'd be seriously considering calling Washington to ask what they want for Tyus Jones. We won't do it because he's 6'0 and we care too much about defense but a low turnover PG who spaces the floor would really be quite nice to add to this team who are 24th in the league in turnovers and 27th in the league in 3P%.

I'm in agreement here. If Suggs/Wagner/Paolo/WCJ can't hit 3's with consistency, the PG is the easiest place to look to find someone to stretch the floor.

If the team continues the losing trajectory management will be forced to do something.

  15. I think we all need to chill out. We tend to overreact on this board to one or two games. AB looked GREAT, but his shot is a work in progress and he could easily go 0-10 on his next 10 3-point attempts. Just as easily, Fultz can come in and score 20 with 12 assists the game he returns and we all get excited for that.

AB looks possibly like the future but he's played 6 games (2 with significant minutes). Fultz is still our starter when healthy as his bball IQ is still one of the best in the league.

in the end, our hope should be both players look great and we have a tough choice to make. But let's not crown AB as our future PG after two good games...
