  1. I heard on the radio today that Cleveland hasn't won a playoff series without a guy named Lebron in 31 YEARS. The pressure is FAR MORE on Cleveland to perform here, whom mortgaged their future to get Donovan Mitchell. A loss could blow up everything if they lose this series (a la Mitchell might choose to leave), vs. the Magic whom clearly have more great days ahead of them and a lot of flexibility financially right now.

It will be an interesting series. I think the Magic play best when they feel free to play loose. I'm hoping for a Game 1 Road win!

This is something I'm thankful for - we're at full strength going into the playoffs. I hear Mitchell has missed 15 of the last 21 games as well with knee ailments. I'm hopeful we can take one of the first 2 games in Cleveland. We're very good at home this season.

I think the last spot will be between Kawhi, Chet and Paolo.

My concern is that Paolo did not play that great during last years FIBA competition. I could see Chet over him or even Jalen Brunson, who was one of the leaders last summer. I’m curious to know if they are leaving 1 roster spot to see how guys play in the playoffs. That’s my gut feeling

  4. I don't know if it's been discussed, but Paolo being courted to play for Team USA in the FIBA 2023 games away from Italy and then not being put on the Team USA Olympic roster for 2024 seems salty to me. Maybe the thought is that Paolo will eventually represent the USA in the next Olympics, but I'm sure he's disappointed.

That being said, it's only an 11 man roster and there's an "open spot for one more player." I'd love to see the Magic get to the East Semi's or Finals (can we beat Boston??) and Paolo to prove his value to be on that roster. A summer playing with Lebron, Steph, and more would be an AMAZING experience for him and his growth no doubt.

  5. I don't want to get down on the magic either, but I have big, big concerns here unless we can pull out a big win against either the Bucks or Sixers. This is "do or die" basketball the next 3 games essentially. I think the Bucks really rattled us yesterday. I'm hoping that someone on that team - Paolo, Cole, or one of the vets - can give a motivational speech that lights the fire and we come out swinging tomorrow night. We know who we are and when we play our game, we win - and we're near a 50 win team.

Don’t know how well Knecht’s other skills will translate (without even thinking of defense) but the man can shoot and I am interested

Isn't he anticipated to be a lottery pick? The guy is an athletic shooter and a competitor for sure.

  7. I saw a stat that identified Jalen Suggs 40.1% three point shooting this season is equivalent to the best season Damian Lillard at the 3 at 40.1%.

is anyone worried that Jalen is going to command a significant salary in the off-season now to go along with Franz? I guess this is why we didn't sign anyone and kept our cap space flexible.

The bench playing like hot garbage and allowing the Pistons to cut the 25+ point lead to 13 only for the starters to return and restore the lead in less than a minute was unbelievable really. Starting unit was awesome, Franz a little quiet again but played great defense. Bench mostly sucked except Markelle in the first half.

Detroit's defense is bad bad. They had considerably more shot attempts than us and we still blew them out.

Vintage Evan Fournier in Orlando, 17 points and the blow out loss.

Let's keep going. Can't drop games now. We're 1 game back of the 4 seed and only 4.5 games back of the 3 seed.

I'd love to get the #3 seed so we wouldn't have to potentially face Boston in the 2nd Round. That team looks unstoppable right now.

Turnovers. Missed free throws. Horrible 3-point shooting. All these things led to the loss tonight. Have to shake it off and move on to the next one.

tuned in for the last 5 minutes and have no idea what you're talking about. Paolo and Suggs have been clutch and we're playing with a fire in our bellies. Perhaps it shouldn't have been this close but this team showed out when it mattered. Learning to win in close games is certainly a necessity for teams to succeed in this league.

I guess my 10,000th post is thanking you for the kind words.

Literally didn't know such a milestone was coming up and honestly I'm wondering how much time I've spent on this board to have posted 10k times and feeling very old all of a sudden (the crazy thing is for the 10k posts there's probably another 1k posts I got half way through typing and then thought "nah this is getting too long no one will read this" or "I'm just not getting into this argument again" lol).

On the good and bad years, I actually joined this board the summer we traded Dwight. So the good years have been slim pickings haha. I'm looking forward to them now though.

We're all old. lol. I remember posting about the Chris Paul / Jameel Nelson trades back in 2010. That's when I started coming here - back when the forum was actually linked on the Orlando Magic's official website.

Excited to be here with ya when we get that championship. I know it's going to happen one of these seasons.

Yes. Jett is still getting paid his full salary. The two way guys (Queen, Harris, Schofield) make half a million a season. Exhibit 10 guys (guys who were with us for preseason and then went to the G league, so like Matt McClung etc) get a bonus that can be up to 75k from the Exhibit 10 contract and then their G league salary on top. The standard, I believe flat, G league salary is 40.5k for the 5 month season.

Also worth noting a lot of G league guys could go overseas and make more money (the average euro league salary is like 400+k a year but some guys make legitimately more than an NBA minimum salary) but being in the US means they can be signed to 10 day contracts which could help them get full contracts and the real money. Plus there are obviously family/culture reasons to stay in the US.

Long story short, no need to feel sorry for them.

I'd just like to congratulate CTMagicUK on now having 9,999 posts. His next post gets him to 10,000, and it's a real milestone to get to 10,000 posts on any board.

Appreciate your professionalism, your years of insight and thoughtful dialogue, and your dedication to sticking with this board - and this team - through the good and (many) bad years. Cheers to you and I look forward to up-voting whatever your 10,000th comment is here.

Saw more insiders linking us to interest in Klay Thompson this off-season

I'm convinced only a select handful of people actually have "insider" information and everyone else just makes up anonymous sources. Klay will retire as a Warrior. His knees are gone and with it, his jump shot.

so greatful that All Star weekend is over with.. It’s a stupid „competition“

Everybody is complaining about how the All Star game isn’t competitive. Here is two ideas i’ll throw around.

    1. Only who wins the All Star game 2x in 5 years is eligible for the super max. Add that to the supermax formula..

    Or

    2. Make an incentive. Only who wins 2 out of 5 All Star games is eligible for a supermax ultra contract. lol

This Ultra contract adds either another 1-2 years to the supermax or extra cash out of TV media contract. The choice should be made by the eligible player

Bottom line is we have too many Max and Supermax extensions by players that aren’t even in that tier. Hello Jaylon Brown.

Agreed. We've made it so that the formula for an award / Supermax is tied to the number of games you play. Now it needs to be tied to the outcome of the All-Star game. $1 million doesn't move the needle but $50 million certainly does.

  14. Scott Henderson is looking so good during the Rising Stars Game. Paolo is looking okay - clearly not taking it that seriously, at least on Defense.

I get that it's a fun game, but it's always nice seeing guys come out and trying to play some defense because every point counts. Paolo's team started 9-0 and got complacent to not play D and went down 17-16 which led to their loss.

It reminds me of how Jareth Cutestory used to post lol.

The forum is great for anonymity, but I'm also sad to see people like Jareth or others give so much for so many years and then leave and never come back for whatever reason. It's the lifecycle of a poster I guess. Hope that all those whom gave so much in those years have remained in good health and are happy.

We’ve gone 5-1 past couple of weeks so they dropped us two spots this week.  I guess I don’t understand how they come up with this stuff.

We have one of the easier schedules. I don't get it either but our quality wins outside of Minnesota werent notable during the stretch

That was a phenomenal Super Bowl

it was incredibly boring but Final Quarter plus OT were stellar. As soon as SF chose to receive, I said, "You're telling me you want Patrick Mahomes to know what he has to do to win the game based on what you get done?" I knew if they didn't get a TD on that drive it was going to be over (and it was). I have hated on Mahomes but the guy is one of the most clutch QB's of all time along with Brady. It's pretty incredible to watch time and time again.

    Finally it begins

I'm really curious to know why he was down there and if he'll get any minutes on this team. It feels like maybe he could cut into the ingles minutes? But I'm assuming he'll mostly ride the pine with AB at this point and will be used as needed.

  19. I would be SHOCKED if we made a trade at this point. Locker room culture is the key and if we're healthy, the "death lineup" is certainly scary and arguably one of the best in the league. Guys care about each other in the locker room, and I just don't think Weltman is going to change something midseason that could affect the young team's close-knit spirit.
