    2023 NBA Draft Day Thread

I have to wonder if we would have gone with one of the Thompson twins should they have dropped. Whitmore dropping was the biggest hit to us as I believe we would have taken one of them over Ant Black. It felt like there was a clear top 5, similar to 2019 when we got Mo Bamba and the top 5 had JJJ, Luka; and Trae. I'm hoping that tier distinction is wrong.

I'm sad, but I trust this management... but dang, hard to get excited.

I know nothing about Anthony Black. I trust the our management but just feels super weird as a fit.

This is the worst. Indiana gets Bilal. If our goal was to trade back, this completely backfired.

I'm here too. But I said the same thing about Paolo at Pick #1 and we never traded him.

I was disappointed with Franz AND Paolo - so they have my full trust at this point. Until they pick bad again.

I'm so happy for Chris Paul. So many weapons for him to throw to. Good for both teams.

Called this 3 days ago. Magic are going for him at #6. Book it.

Do you think Jeremy Grant will be better than Scoot? If so, you trade the pick. If not, you take him and trade Jeremy. Pretty simple.

I think Miller actually fits in better with both teams with how they are currently constructed, but I think Scoot at the end of the day will be a better player. I don't see LaMelo and Scott fitting well together at all, on or off court. If you want personality examples, I think it goes about as well as Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant.

I'm still putting it in writing we're going for Bilal and will look to trade back in order to do so, but ultimately will pick him at #6 if we can't find a pick we like to go to #7-#9. I love a Thompson twin, but Bilal is a tried and true WeltHam prospect.

KP's contract isn't great and the Wiz clearly wanted to just move him to again strip their roster. My real question is how adding this KP contract affects their ability to sign Jalen Brown as they've now lost Smart. Smart is also a great add to the Grizzlies. Hard-nosed veteran leadership is what that locker room needs, and Marcus Smart won't be afraid to get in the face of their young core to push them to be better in many facets - I'm looking in particular at Ja. Great add by them.

I hate the fact that Bol Bol is listed higher than Suggs and Fultz isn't even on the list. Definitely disagree with that assumption here.

I think he's an excellent locker room guy and a perfect sixth man. I'd love to keep him but I don't know if he wants the role that is available to him on this team.

I don't think Black fits with what we're doing. You're right that I think it's smoke as well. Really smart if so. I'm fully strapped in that we want to get Bilal and will trade back a spot or two for him.

Final Prediction: 6th pick: Bilal Coulibaly 11th pick: Gradey Dick 2nd Round pick gets traded We picked Franz Wagner, who was the #17 pick at #8 in 2021. I see us doing the same here at #6 with Bilal ranked as the #11 on ESPN's big board. He's got the Giannis mega-athlete vibe with a frame and length that has super high potential. I won't be upset if we draft one of the Thompsons, but this pick just feels VERY WeltHam and they aren't going to wait for him to drop to #11 for them to claim him.

I feel like this man is going to now get a call from Paul George. If that was his goal, mission accomplished.

I'm not a subscriber either but it feels like each year there's a lot of talk about trades before or during the draft and it hardly ever materializes. I'm sure there are a lot of teams who would like to trade, but it takes two to tango.

My comment was basically saying I don't think Charlotte trades #2 without a guaranteed rising star like Franz. If we want Scoot (like many do), it will take trading Franz plus picks. I don't see any other way Charlotte does a deal, nor am I personally a fan of that trade.

I think Franz isn't flashy but he's incredible smart, which every team needs to go on a deep playoff run. With that said, I imagine Franz and two firsts get it done for Scoot if we really do think he's Ja Morant / Derrick Rose level - a good complement no doubt to Paolo. I'm not as sold on Scoot but some are.
