This has been my concern for a while. The hope is, unlike Payton, he can develop a shot which the jury is very much out on. VERY possible though.
-
I'll agree I wish we had taken Sharpe in some way. Has all the upside to he exactly the type of guard we need, and he kept feeling like a strong option. Good call, junkie, but let's remember this is a MAGIC forum. Lol

The last social media post I saw on the Magic's page was 100 comments of #PlayKaiSotto. Why we would sign him, highlight him on social media for all his rabid followers to see, and then NEVER play him even in garage time? I have to believe the guy must have a terrible attitude or something because there's no way we don't just strategically throw him out there at this point.

Wemby has been shut down for the rest of SL. Wild but understandable.

This is the kind of stat that gets me hyped for next season. I don't think Paolo is Lebron, but the parallels in this example of uncanny.
-
Jabari Smith Jr with 38 points tonight. Obviously we know Summer league can mean nothing, but that's now 2 for 2 on good outings from JSJ, who looks much more comfortably driving and finishing vs just pulling up from deep. Obviously happy we have Paolo but it's going to be interesting to see if JSJ turns into the offensively weapon many thought he could be here.

Did anyone else see how Tyler Herro removed his "Miami Heat Guard" on all his social bios on July 2? Seems to be confirmation he knows he's being shipped in the Lillard trade.
-
I've thought about this too. It gives me hope that there is something else we're attempting to do behind the scenes. That Tyler Herro rumor is the only thing jumping to my mind unless there is a different trade or player signing that we're looking at.

They're about to find out he's a highlight machine that doesn't rebound, play defense, or pass. I'm sure KD will love him.

AB is the ultimate glue guy you want on your team. I don't expect much out of this Magic SL team, but I'm hopeful AB continues to grow his offensive game while showing those clear defensive and game-flow instincts that you just can't teach. If I can nitpick though, AB's handle needs to get a lot tighter. He's enough of an athlete I think we'll be fine, but both his handles and shot (which he's shown is improving) need to improve for him to be a starter in this league.

Y'all - Kai Sotto hasn't played at all yet. Is he THAT bad??
-
I think Udoka is a good coach to put together these pieces as he did a good job doing so in Boston - but I agree: Tons of talent and will take a Denzel in Remember the Titans type of inspiration to get these "me first" players to buy in and play cohesively.
-
Selfish, me-first guys at the end of the day won't win rings in today's NBA. They'll sell jerseys but won't win rings. Harden is a prime example of that.

I imagine Williams wanted to start, which he wasn't going to do here. Might have been a deal-killer from the get-go as I would have rather had Williams at $14M / year than an aging Ingles at $11M / year. Or maybe for the Magic it really was about keeping cap flexibility as our core players come off their rookie deals.

I imagine the tournament in December is to break up the open of the season (which sees a lot of viewership) with the All-Star festivities. Having it too close to either would likely lessen viewership, but I do agree that you're only like 30 games in at that point and it feels weird.

there goes those Williams theories. Good on him. With that being said, Mavs are still not going to make Luka happy.

I think Banchero is a more surefire star for many years to come, but Chet has (and still does have) a higher ceiling but a ton more risk. If Chet plays 65+ games each of the next 10 seasons, there's a good chance that he could become a better player than Paolo, but my belief (and many others) is that he'll play 65+ games for maybe 2-3 seasons in the next 8-10, continuing to struggle with injuries with his thin, stretched frame. I hope for the sake of the NBA, he stays healthy, because he seems like a good kid and would be very fun to watch.
-
Just read a little on him. Sounds like a good, hard-working dude. Totally forgot he was the starting SG for Lebron's Cavs during that 2009 season when they had Shaq and Antwan Jamison on the team.

I think the key here from the demeanor of these two is that the Magic continue to care about character. They continue to pick good, humble learners whom will gel well with a team and will ultimately make on court decisions that seek to win as a team above achieving personal glory. I really like whom we have and I hope the base of characters we're drafting turns into a winning formula. Can't wait for summer league! I've always seen Bol Bol as a player who makes some individual highlight reels but is consistently lacking when it comes to team defense or playing with the flow of an offense. I think everyone sees Bol Bol's potential, but basketball is a game of small victories over the course of 48 minutes, and whether it's a lack of rebounding at his size, tunnel vision offense, or otherwise, multiple teams have now passed on him and there's clearly a reason why.

While your foot is recovering, you very much can eat a ton and workout your upper body every day. He's got an incredible metabolism but such a frail frame because of it. I just don't see him playing more than 50 games in any given season. I'll eat my words on that one though as I said something similar about Kevin Durant back in the day.

Lol no

13 lbs reportedly. Went from 195 to 208. Still terribly thin for 7'1" and amazing that's all he could put on in one year of not playing.
-
This feels like one of those Chris Paul moments, where we're all so sure this can work for all parties but ultimately will be only teased by the thought of the potential. Unlike the Otis Smith years, we will only hear about this if it happens - no rumors beforehand!

The question is whether he brings overall more to the table than what we believe Jalen Suggs will bring in the next 1-2 seasons. Suggs is a greater passer and defender, and reportedly his shot is looking a lot better... but by trading for Tyler Herro, you eliminate a place for Jalen Suggs (whom I assume would be traded in the package). Black and Anthony as a second unit seem to have very complementary skill sets. I think if we trade for Herro, Suggs is the odd man out (unless we see Herro as a 6th man player like Cole - but like Cole, I feel like Herro wants to be a starter).
