Boston Herald Report: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/boston_celtics/2015/07/amir_johnson_big_catch_for_celtics Looks like we're settling in on matching whatever deal Harris gets unless he's part of a sign-and-trade.

Faried is 25 and works hard, but no matter how you dress him up, he's not a shooter. For the sake of Payton and Oladipo, we NEEDED a stretch 4. Milsap was a perfect fit. Faried has not shot, thus again clogging the lane for our slashing guards.

Lies. Tweet or you got nothing.

Alex Kennedy just retweeted Brian Windhorst before free agency: https://twitter.com/AlexKennedyNBA :svgsad:
-
Conveniently, Oladipo becomes a restricted FA in 2 years when the cap goes up. Gordon and Elfrid don't become RFA until 3 years from now. So, even if we are at the tax line, the only person we really need to worry at all about leaving is Evan Fournier next season, unless Moe, Dedmon, or Nicolson have tremendous seasons.
-
I'm assuming we've already talked about Kevin Love resigning with the Cavs? With Love getting $110 mil and Thompson getting $70... and Irving already having about $90 mil.... how are they going to pay LeBron?
-
If we got both we would HAVE TO be done according to salary cap rules. haha

Annnndd this is the reason why Hennigan is so high on Milsap I bet: http://espn.go.com/newyork/nba/story/_/id/13179917/paul-millsap-mulling-max-deals-atlanta-hawks-orlando-magic As a numbers guy, you know Henny was all over this.
-
I would also argue that Lewis, while good with what he did, wasn't nearly as well-rounded as Milsap is. This is a home run if this happens. No one was looking at the type of money for Lewis as I recall and we gave it to him.
-
If we sign Milsap and then we match the Harris deal, the Hawks will officially loath us for the next 5 years, especially if we wait to match like we did to Dallas with Marcin Gortat years ago. That moment made me LOL and gave us a GREAT trade chip despite us going into the luxury tax.
-
I unfortunately believe that Milsap, coming off of a 60 win season, will probably want to continue to be with the Hawks. I could be wrong, but in his prime, he's going to want to compete for a championship, and the Magic are still 2-3 years away from that. Strapping in for whatever news comes.
-
I think what Orlando did in looking to sign Milsap on night #1 of Free Agency was also very smart. They essentially said, "We don't care about Aldridge, Gasol, or other Free Agent big men. YOU are the guy for us and we want you in Orlando tomorrow." That speaks volumes to a player to know that, when no one else is talking about him, we are pursuing him and paying him like the top Free Agent in the league.
-
I agree with this. I just don't think you go for a slight upgrade of someone who is 8 years older than a guy that you already have on your roster if you want him. Truthfully, it might be that Harris is just out the door in the minds of the Magic at this point. This is the feeling I have.
-
Milsap is better but Harris is 8 years younger and growing still. I guess I'm just slightly unsure about this direction, but I again trust Rob & his team have done their due diligence.
-
Starting on ATL too, he knows how to work in a winning Defense it would seem. I'm not opposed to signing both Milsap and Harris, but it just seems like you're using a lot of money for a singular type of talent.
-
What are the comps on Milsap and why would we offer a 30-year-old him $20 mil / yr and not a 22-year-old Harris who has similar stats? Is Milsap a better passer? A better team defender? A better 3-pt shooter? What is it that drives us to him rather than matching Harris?
-
Liklihood Kyle O'Quinn is back next year? I'm actually giving it a 75% chance. I think he's a hard working leader whose a great locker-room guy and already has a bond with a lot of players on the team. He won't get much playing time, but that's EXACTLY the type of guy you want at the end of your bench.

Hilarious quip on ESPN 5-on-5 article: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13171973/nba-free-agency-preview
-
That wasn't a debate at all. Davis was consensus #1. You had the Bargnani - Aldridge debate in 2006. Outside of that, going down the list, I can't think of any huge national debates that happened over two players at the #1 pick spot. List: http://www.nba.com/history/lottery_picks.html

Where can I find Blue vs. White? And Why do we have two teams while everyone else only has one?

Reasons why I love Greg Poppavich: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13173973/san-antonio-spurs-gregg-popovich-says-not-calling-anyone-midnight-nba-free-agency-begins

I LOL'd when I saw this. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13174114/oklahoma-city-thunder-trades-luke-ridnour-toronto-raptors

I'm actually really proud that I was on the Howard side of that argument. People wanted Okafor, but my argument was you knew what Okafor was bringing. Howard was 6'11" and could jump out of the building, came from a grounded family (we now realize it softened and spoiled him), and had the potential to put on a ton of weight. I feel bad to Emeka. It's not even a competition anymore. I wonder if the same will be said of Okafor/Anthony-Towns one day... Are there any other 1-2 picks in the last decade that has turned out to be so one-sided? Only one I can think of is Oden-Durant.

Expectations/Predictions for the 2015-2016 Season
TreyMachine replied to HeHateMe's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Scott Skiles first/second years: Pre-Skiles: 27-23 Phoenix: 40-22 Phoenix: 51-31 Pre-Skiles: 30-52 Chicago: 19-47 Chicago: 47-35 Pre-Skiles: 26-56 Milwaukee: 34-48 Milwaukee: 46-36 Granted, some of these teams had NO talent. I just feel like the Magic are bursting at the seams and ready to win, especially in a weak east. If we don't win 37 games at least, I'll be sad. -
I think even comparing Mario to Porzingis will be fun. In my opinion, I think that Porzingis would have thrived in a small market like Orlando, but I think he'll get eaten up by the NY Media and won't even get to where he could be as a solid role player. Too much will be expected of him too soon and too much criticism will be pushed on him too early as a 19 year old. Mario came into an ideal situation. My biggest fear: Mario is all about Mario... I 100% think he bolts from Orlando as an unrestricted Free Agent if he gets to his potential. I don't see Oladipo, Payton, or Gordon doing that, but Mario I do.
