  1. Jareth, Can the t-shirt also have Vince Carter grinning smugly somewhere at the bottom with a bubble saying "Told you so, jerks"? Also, I'd like to order 500 for express shipping regardless of whether or not you can make this change. Sincerely, PrematureShooter
  2. OMG OTIS COULDN'T CONVINCE NO MANAGEMEN TO TRADE THEIR STAR WHY WASN'T HE AT THAT MEETING WHAT A DOOF WE ONLY GOT A BACKUP PG SOME Q GUY AND A WHITE GUY WE SUCK AGAIN PANIC
  3. Sooo what happens when they come out and say they aren't trading him, is that equivalent to the loved one dying on the operating table? Those seem pretty comparable, I see your point.
  4. Wow, the highest seats in the arena don't seem bad at all. I think those virtual pictures from the thread a few days ago were a little extreme. Hopefully we're all pleasantly surprised when we get in there.

Yeah dude, and if he does, putting Q-Rich at the 4 is definitely a no-brainer.

    Individual Player Improvements

I'll start with Pietrus. He could improve on A LOT of things, but he's not gonna be drastically smarter after the offseason so I'd like to see him eliminate two incredibly frustrating flaws from his game: biting on pump fakes and footwork after his own pump fakes. He has a strong tendency to either travel or take a step back (usually onto the sideline) after his fakes. He has typically already beaten his defender in those situations so it kills me everytime he does it.
  8. For what it's worth, my old man has been working in the arena for the last couple of months. According to him, the view is great from everywhere, just like in the old arena. $5 seats are a steal regardless.
  9. INSIDER INFO: I SAW GILBERT SHOOTING HOOPS AT THE WEST ORANGE YMCA LAST SUMMER MAYBE EXACTLY A YEAR AGO TO THE DAY AND HE SAID "WHAT UP" TO ME AND I WAS WEARING A MAGIC SHIRT ZOMG OTIS PLANNED A YEAR AHEAD ITS A DONE DEAL STRAP ON ITS GONNA GET BUMPY.
  10. MP's defense is pretty overrated. He's a good defender, not much more.

Jameer is not doing what he should be doing he's just playing well as a scoring 2 guard every once in a while. Poor excuse for a point guard on a team loaded with talent around him. quote: Jameer is a shoot first PG.

Also, Fish is the exact type of player we don't want joining Miami: a heady role player with a history of clutch shooting. I do agree that we are still competitive and most people are overreacting, however.

    The General Discussion Thread

Not sure if anyone has read/mentioned Simmons' mailbag yet, but man, some of this stuff is incredible. quote: City: Cleveland, OhioName: Jared I never thought I'd reach the day where I could no longer hate Kobe, Joakim Noah, Stan Van Gundy and Dwight Howard, or your beloved Celtics for hope that they dish out to LeBron the punishment he deserves for this charade. City: New Canaan, Conn. Name: Peter Kirschenbaum I am a lifetime Heat fan. Last night: Mixed emotions. This free agency has been like winning two different lotterys. When Wade and Bosh chose the Heat, it felt like winning a $5 million dollar lotto jackpot. Having LeBron pick the Heat feels like winning the powerball mega million. Now nobody likes you and all of the sudden you have all these bandwagon fake friends wanting to hang out since you're finally worth something. You can't enjoy your money anymore because everyone wants a piece. Am I happy about winning the powerball? Yes, of course. Is it wrong though, that I feel like I might've been better off just winning the $5 million jackpot? City: Southampton, Pa. Name: Steve L On ESPN last night, they were wondering what the new nickname for the new trio of free agents in Miami should be. I vote for ... 1. The Sisterhood of the Traveling That's Never Called 2. The Fly Girls 3. The Unholy Trinity 4. Florida's Second Best NBA Team and my personal favorite ... 5. The Nazgul The Nazgul were the characters in Lord of the Rings that were former kings who turned into demons that were constantly chasing the ring. It completely consumed them and robbed them of their humanity. I think this sums up the situation in Miami. City: Stockholm, N.J. Name: Ron Battiston It's been amazing to watch LeBron go from arguably the most popular player in the NBA to arguably the most despised over the course of one week. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn...?page=simmons/100709

Patriotism is... actually, take it from here, Carlin Lol, I honestly didn't expect to take heat for that statement but I guess I understand the gripe. All I meant by that in regard to the Debonair post I cited was that it makes zero sense to root for a country to which you have no ties when the one you are from is being represented, at least in my opinion. When my country is competing I root for them, simple as that. And yes, BMP, I realize quoting Debonair is pointless since he is a robot that doesn't reason, but most of the time I can't resist. Ignore if you must.

Ah, good catch. I mistook "hometown" listed on the roster for their birthplace.

Sure, you can hate things America has done in the past, but no country in the history of the world has done more for civilization and human rights than the USA. Perhaps its that attitude there? The whole we've done all of this, so we are amazing type of thing. You can hardly measure things in terms of their value to the world. Im sure one could easily argue that america has done a lot of **** that negates the good things. It doesn't matter. The point is that you don't get to choose your nationality. This isn't the NBA where the city on the jersey almost never represents where the players are actually from. World Cup players are suiting up and representing their countries on a world scale, countries they actually hail from. Rooting for another country because the US media was supporting the national team is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Honestly, that's incredible. If you're from a certain country you should inately have a sense of pride and patriotism. If you don't, there's something wrong.
  19. quote: Originally posted by D-BoFats:I've been thinking, maybe this deal with Washington involves an agreement to buy out Gilbert Arenas, and Gilbert agreeing to sign with us. I wouldn't be so opposed if that was the case. Assuming it's the only trade... PG - Nelson, Heinrich SG - Arenas, Foye, Redick SF - Thornton, Pietrus PF - Lewis, Anderson, Bass C - Howard, Gortat I would LOVE to have Arenas for cheap. I still think he's a classy guy who just made a mistake. Yeah, I could definitely see us paying near MLE money for JJ to be 3rd string.
  20. I don't hate the Foye/Thornton/Hinrich deal. Three quality players in exchange for only VC. With that said, I think there are plenty of other deals we could make that would be more worthwhile.

I would argue that having an established top 4 NBA team which is largely constructed under a certain GM is a pretty good indication that said GM does, in fact, have a pretty good idea of what he's doing. But then again, that's just me thinking logically and not like a complete buffoon, so what do I know? naw you're thinking like a complete buffoon. I give all the credit to weisbrod for clearing house and drafting dwight howard Oh ok so Weisbrod > Otis and Hill > SVG. Got it. It's too bad Hill took the job the day after Johnny left, they could have formed some super powerful GM/coach tandem. Oh, the possibilities.

  23. IMO if we trade Jameer it better result in a clear upgrade. Meer IS a top 6-7 PG and shipping him off for an uncertainty with our team already a title contender would be, in my view, carless and wrong.
  24. Do people think Collison/West potentially gets us over the hump? Don't see it, sorry.
