Dwight, Nene, Marc Gasol, Okafor, Gortat, Tyson Chandler, DeMarcus Cousins, Bogut, Bynum, varejao, noah, McGee, Deandre Jordan

I guess 7ft, 265lbs, 23 yrs old, 20pts, 50% shooting, Jump shot, post game, 1.6 ass, 1.5 blk does not count for much.

So you really would trade in Lopez for gortat, Mcgee (only a block specialist), Deandre Jordan (athletic and young), bynum (better talent but injury problems), Okafor (really a PF at C but has played most of his carrer at C), Tyson Chandler (A good piece for Dallas but for lopez. Haywood is almost a good.), and Marc Gasol (and this is puzzling because Lopez is just a better younger version. You do know there is a 3yr age difference. marc only average 7 rebs)

Now it may seem that I like the nets trade. I really dont but I am not going to dog lopez because I like Howard so much. I wish the picks the nets have were better. We might suck so much we get 1st pick. The trade I would gun for is Blake Griffin. Gordan, Deandre jordon and two picks might make me feel better as well.

  2. That reality comment wasn't condescending, but I can understand it's being taken that way if you haven't, at least, taken intro to psychology. Perception is reality. Therefore, my perception, to me, is reality, everyone else is "in their own world". Besides, all those ranking s are over rating offense versus defense. Can you honestly tell me you would take Lopez as a top center is you were drafting a new NBA team?

how many good centers are there in the NBA? That is the reality of the question you should be asking yourself. Give me 10 centers better then Lopez. I really want to hear your thoughts.

  3. NBA commissioner David Stern has killed the New Orleans Hornets’ trade of Chris Paul after several owners complained about the league-owned team dealing the All-Star point guard to the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Some owners pushed Stern to demand that trade be nullified, and the Hornets be made to keep Paul on the roster for the foreseeable future, sources said. A chorus of owners were irate with the belief that the five-month lockout had happened largely to stop big-market teams from leveraging small-market teams for star players pending free agency.

All the players involved in the trade have been told to report to their teams for the start of training camp on Friday.

Before Stern intervened, the Lakers had reached an agreement to acquire Paul in a three-team trade that would have

There is new life for the magic... Otis, go get paul please... thx you

  4. Call me crazy, but unlike Lavar, I do believe our starting center should average more than 6 rebounds a game. Christ, even below average centers grab more rebounds a game than that.

I did state he should ave more rebound. it was one of the first things i said. Overall, I just believe he is a good asset because of his age, position, and scoring. It would be better to get lopez, picks, and cap, than nothing at all. In addition, I stated i would do this only at the trading dead line as a last option.

  5. Saying that Lopez and late first round picks are assets is like leaving your wife all of your assets in your will, only later she finds out your assets amount to a house with a massive balloon payment due in a year and $300 in the bank. While technically you are correct, they are assets, realistically their value is crap.

You're in love with Lopez's contract, but he's going to get overpaid as a restricted free agent in a year, so what have you saved? Now you're in a position to over pay or start looking for yet another center.

You also ignored the whole point about those two draft picks from the nets being (very) late first round picks. Those are the worst picks to have because you end up taking a gamble on guys panning out, but you're locked into guaranteed contract amounts because you're in the first round. Sure, sometimes you get lucky and get a guy that can contribute like we did with Lee, but even then, if you get lucky enough to find two Lee's with those picks, is that really worth trading away Dwight? It's just a way to say "Well, we got a couple draft picks" and make yourself sleep better at night but that doesn't change the fact that it's a horrible deal.

Then, to top it all off, you claim that the business side of the game is all about assets, yet you said earlier you wouldn't trade with the Clippers unless you got Griffin back in the deal. Only, out of all the teams out there, the Clippers have some of the best assets available in terms of draft picks to trade. Much better than the picks from the Nets that you seem to be enamored with for some reason.

    lol

I don't believe the lopez is superman, but I is a major asset. He does need to average more than 6 rebs per game. Put tell me how a 7"0 265 Center, that is 23yrs old and averages 50% shooting, 20pts per game, 1.5 blks, and 1.6 apg is NOT an asset. The biggest thing is the position. He is one of the top centers in the game, because there really arent that may in the NBA (True Centers). Gordan is a nice player but there are a tone of 2 guards/wing players in the league. You can find wings late in drafts easier then you can find bigs. Big men have much more value. We also would dump turk, so the money he is taking up would go to lopez.

  6. The Nets deal blows. Lopez isn't ever going to amount to anything and those pics will be very late in the first round considering the Nets would have both Howard and D. Will. Why on earth would you want that package?

Next you're going to tell me you would take Bynum and change so we get something back for Dwight.

The Shaq situation was different. The league basically screwed us over, then made sure it couldn't happen to anyone else. To top it off, we had a fairly decent team without Shaq and a legit superstar on the roster when he left in Penny. If Dwight leaves, our team sucks. You aren't getting back a player of his caliber, a player that can raise this team up a level, so you're going to be stuck in mediocrity and ****ty late round draft picks never really getting a good chance to improve the team. You let Dwight walk (remember, you aren't just opening the door for him, you are making him a better offer than any other team can make, and forcing him to turn his back on that contract to take less money elsewhere, a gamble for sure, but you aren't just letting him walk).

Dwight leaves this team and we get some nice draft pics for a couple of years, develop the talent and turn the team around from the Draft. That's something that didn't happen when Shaq left. If you trade Dwight you will end up creating the same situation we were in post Shaq.

Sure, you deal with the public outcry of "we let Dwight go for nothing", but that's only the people that are casual fans and don't really understand the game, how to turn a team around, and the reality of the situation.

Never did I mention Bynum. I would not trade him to the lakers. I think he is ok but looks better because of the talent around him. plus, he gets injured a lot. the nets trade is not great but it is better then letting howard walk. Lopez is not a superstar but he does give us a 7ft player that can score 20pts a game. True centers are rare. Lopez's true value is his contract being cheap now giving us cap and then him being a restricted free agent, next year, allowing us to sign him by matching offers. The business side of the game is about assets. Lopez and the first round picks are assets. Blake Griffin and a new center would be my top targets. (If i would do a trade.)

Howard will not stay if we can not improve the team. We have had two years to make major moves and have failed.

  7. Don't trade Dwight, but don't think someone is going to gift wrap you a trade for another superstar to help you out either. Once the season is over, do your best to have a couple potential moves in place to help clear space and hope that D. Will or Chris Paul will take a little less than a max deal to play in Orlando with Dwight (with Dwight on board to re-up if they come to Orlando).

If you can't get enough space cleared, or get a commitment from them, refuse to sign and trade Dwight so that his options are to sign with Orlando ( 5 year max deal with 7.5% raises annually) or walk (with a max deal of only 4 years and 4.5% raises annually). That's the best leverage we have to keep Dwight here, and a difference of over $30 million dollars between contracts.

If Dwight walks, we rebuild through the draft and a few horrible years (and great draft picks). Trading for Dwight and getting mediocre/ qasi-star players in return will banish us into several years of mediocrity always fighting for a playoff sport/first round exit or squeaking into the lottery with no real shot at top picks.

Plenty of people have tossed around the Clippers as a destination (mediocre star players and a couple of high lotto picks), but they wouldn't give those up for Dwight without assurances that he would stick around, and that won't happen without them getting Chris Paul first, and they won't get him and still be able to offer that package and those pics for Dwight.

In other words, trading Dwight is a no win situation. We don't have the assets to entice the Nets or the Hornets to ship us a top PG, nor the assets to entice another team to hop on board and help us in that endeavor. There might be a few mid range moves we could make to be a better team this season, but would that be enough to keep Dwight around, or would you rather make a run at Williams/Paul next summer to team them up with Dwight long term?

I would only trade howard to the clippers for blake griffin and that is it. Other than that trade, I would try the nets trade (lopez and picks) at the trade deadline and dump turk as well. Before I do the nets trade i would go for the second star, but that has always seemed an adventure for us.

There is no way howard gets a chance to walk. Management knows they cant offered another shaq situation; with this new arena.

  8. I think the only way i trade Howard to the clippers is to get back Blake Griffin and Kamon.

The Clippers would have Howard, Gordan, the wolves pick and enough money to get paul or williams next year.

We would have a player to keep the fans coming to the new arena.

Gordan is a solid wing player and would be great with howard, but no one is coming to the arena just see gordan play. It is going to come down to money and keeping the ticket sells up.

  9. they're not giving up Blake. Dead that.

I think they might. As a team they would have:

howard, gordan, enough money for paul or williams, in the off season, and two high value picks

I would not trade howard to the clips for a guard and questionable rookies. It would be as bad as the nets trade-- even worse because lopez is a true center.

The other options would be to keep howard and pray or to some how trade for paul.

  10. Kaman is an expiring contract. A package of Gordon, Aminu, Kaman and Jordan plus T-Wolves first and Clippers first for Dwight and Hedo would be the best deal we could get. Gets us young talent, saves us money and lands us with draft picks all at once. Unlike these other trade offers where we are likely swapping Dwight for a way less talented center and late and practically worthless 1st round picks.

I personally think that Blake and Kaman would be the best deal. We need a player that can bring fans to the new arena.

  11. As of late, it seems that Bass, Hedo, Jrich and Anderson have all gone soft on the defensive boards. Last night's game saw us severely outrebounded for the second time in less than a week. Dwight had 13 boards, but no one else had more than 4. The Kings outrebounded us 51-36 (Yes. The Kings). We gave up 16 offensive rebounds and only had 6. I think our PFs are lazy on the defensive boards because they think Howard will grab them. Howard is not going to get 51 rebounds by himself.

Once we start playing the bigger teams in the playoffs, this could become a major issue. How can this team turn this stat around before the playoffs when currently Hedo looks slow, Bass looks like he has no lift and Ryan gets beat on boxouts at PF?

I believe one of the few things the kings do well is rebound... through rebounding is an issue for us as of late. I think we could have went big with d12, clark and ryan... But we did not. turk has been a big problem as of late. He is not health and is not doing much on the court. we need to start some one else.

  12. Earl does a lot of things well, but let's not all act like a dependable jumpshot is inevitable. An improved jumper is a big IF, because right now, it is beyond flawed. He reminds me so very much of Trevor when he was on the team, but hey, Ariza went on to develop a semi-consistent jumpshot, so there's always hope.

When earl first came his jump shot was ok. He is not getting consistent mins; that really hurts a person's long range shot because they get out of the flow of the game. The special thing about earl is that he can guard three positions-- both forward spots and the center at times. I think we should sit turk. Start Q for defense and play earl more often...

  13. It is because teams are single covering howard and staying with the shooters; as their team game plan on D. The single coverage allows D12 to pad the stats a little but the ball never moves from howard. Therefore, other players on the team don't get in the flow of the game or get easy looks on offense.

As mentioned before, the defense is the biggest issue for the team. Sometimes the team does not play with enough energy. The bulls game was more bad shooting and nelson leaving than anything else, but the Detroit game was a classic example. Plus, the play of Agent 1.0 (Gil) has been dreadful. He is taking some god awful shots, not driving to the hole, and having turnover issues at key moments (end of Detroit game). I don't remember the last meaningful game he has had.
