I think you may not have had much time to read everything that has come out on Dwight. I have had time off the last 3-4 weeks and have been glued to my screen reading articles. After you read quite a few written by the same journo you start to see which ones are bull****ting their way to get people to read their ****....(rednose) and then see the orther journo's who have only reported legitimate facts..... (Robbins).
At this point of time Howard has said he wants to stay. 2 weeks ago I would have agreed with you.... but come now I think Howard has lost the confusion and realized how lucky he is to be here and how much more money he will make when he resigns. Orlando have control of this situation, not Dwight.
Though I did read that Otis wanted to make the trade and ownership said no. If this is the case then Otis needs to go now.
I sure hope your right

Good point. Why didn't we all see that when a player changes jersey numbers it's a clear indicator he's leaving? And with a little research we should know exactly where.
Seriously? Hindsight is not an indicator of insight.
My point was if Lebron, Wade and Bosh all made this happen, why can't Dwight seem to get anyone to come to him? Everyone wants to play with him, but no one is running to him. It could be because of SVG, or Otis, or the fact they hate Amway products, but Orlando spends money and we all know that is the biggest single draw for all NBA players.
Why doesn't CP3 list Orlando as his preferred destination? Could it be that Howard or Otis have not made it publicly known or pushed the point they want him?
It is against nba rules to talk to a player under contract. Howard would have to do it privately. Which has seem to already have happen. Hence, the reason they are trying to go to a large market like LA.
One reason things are different from the Miami's situation is that bash, LBJ, and wade where all FREE agents at the same time. Miami had positioned them selves to have the cap space to sign them. We dont have the cap space and major players like paul and williams are not free agents yet.

Since Dwight Howard supposedly "softened up" his trade demands; Who do you think they bring in to help keep Dwight in Orlando?
Here's some players who I think they may take a look at in bringing down to Orlando:
SG/PG: Monta Ellis
PG: Deron Williams
PG: Russell Westbrook and SG James Harden
PG: Chris Paul
Do you fellas/ladies think we could get any of these players if Otis offers Jameer Nelson, J.J. Redick, Hedo Turkoglu and/or Ryan Anderson, along with some kind of a draft pick?
I threw in James Harden along with the trade because OKC also has Dequan Cook, Thabo Sefalosha, and Royal Ivey that play the SG position. Having Redick in the trade will give them another SG and keeping Harden would give them too many SG's. OKC would get alot of scoring back in that trade.
the thunder have no reason to brake up their team and we dont have enough to get paul. Did you see what the nba rejected for paul from both LAs?

as long as we dont lose howard for nothing. we will be fine, but if he moves with out young talent coming back; it will be the dark ages.

Magic CEO meets with Howard, hopes to keep him

Things I am looking forward to:
1) Jameer Nelson, I wonder (hope) if he can get back to All star form.
2) Jason Richardson, How much does he have left in the tank? Will he be comfortable now he has been with the Magic coming up to a year?
3) JJ Redick, I like him, I like how much he has improved. I want to see him make even more leaps. I think he is a very under rated play maker.
4) Ryan Anderson, I love his rebounding.... and when he is on. But if his shot is not falling he makes huge mistakes and his game falls in every area. He needs to show he can have an impact even when that shot is not on.
5) Hedo, I hate hedo, I hated the 09' Hedo... but... I hated the hedo of last year even more, please return to your 09' form Hedo.
6) Big Baby, Your face annoys me. I never liked Barnes when he was here.... so I doubt I will like Big Baby, Though his help defense is exactly the same reason Lewis made Orlando a much better defensive team than it was last season. As long as Baby restricts his dumb shot selection and does those one % (charges, help defense, screens) I will be happy with the trade.
Let the season start.
FOR Big baby's size, he really does hustle and plays with fire. I would like to see him play with us next to howard. I dont like his height or finishing around the basket be he has a nice middle range game and plays hard on defense. We need players that bring some fire; like barnes did for us. its funny that big baby is listed at 6'9, he seems shorter than bass.

Smith told the Orlando Sentinel on Sunday that the team hasn't completely ignored Howard's input. Howard has previously mentioned players like New Orleans' Chris Paul and New Jersey's Deron Williams as talent he'd like to play with. Howard said those suggestions weren't offered just this offseason, but over the past few years.
"We looked at some," Smith told the newspaper. "Some we have. Some we don't. So I'm not necessarily saying that he isn't accurate. I think that there was a list. Some of them are duplicate talent, which is something you can't do all the time. Some, quite frankly, are on your roster.
"...When it's your best player, you really do consult your best player on everything. You do. So you consult your best player on free agency. You consult your best players on trades. And that's not uncommon. And I have done that."
Howard also wanted to keep Agent 0.

Exactly, you didn't see Wade quit on Miami....and you didn't see Dirk quit on Dallas. Whatever happened to commitment. I'm so sick of franchise players leaving the very team that made them who they are today. And it's happening more and more as young talent watch their idols and follow the same steps.
I feel the same way. Wish howard could of tried this dirk's way.

howard asks for trade. this explains a lot.

Or, you know, that we are trying to make an informed decision and make a move that is best for this team. Do you really think Otis isn't trying to keep Dwight in Orlando?
if you tell your girl friend, you can see other people. it just does not sound right. I think it could influence howard even more to want to leave. Of course, they are going to tell him everything he wants to hear. I have never heard of this type of stuff during the season with players. (only coaches) It just sends bad signals. IMO
-
Agents know what players want and can ultimately deliver the best trade deal back to orlando
but it would seem to show, we are not trying to keep him in O town
-
Was the reason we beat Cleavland if I remember correctly. Him and Shard were great mismatches that year :sadcrab:
yup that is what I remember. I am not saying he is a superstar or even a star, but he brings certain skill at 6"10 that can help a team.

I'm not doing this again what is this Turk is awesome day? Anybody who thinks Turk is anything more than an average nba starter( that's generous) has no clue at all.
He did help in the playoffs with passing and shots. but all I meant was, he and AI can bring the ball up court and pass. Dont forget I said AI aswell. Not all the duties to Turk. I have not seen turk this year, but D12 said he looks like the old turk- lost weight and is moving good.
-
haha Turk at the point is even worse nooooooo wayyyy
it was one of the reasons we went so far in our deep playoff run.
-
Monta at the point? No thanks
monta would not have to be point on that line up. turk and AI would be point forward players. they have both played that before.
-
Iggy would arguably be the 2nd best player Dwight has ever played with. 1st being All-Star Jameer in 2009.
Our wing defense would be upgraded by leaps and bounds. He is also a good passer. I hear turk is looking good these days. I wounder how those two would fit because they are both good pt forwards.
-
If we weren't planning on doing something with that space then it was stupid to amnesty him now. At least get some play out of him and see if he could come back better.
i think we would have but it was more about the tax payout
-
what I dont get is why management would allow howard's agent to talk to other teams: lakers, nets, and dallas. I would not want other teams in my superstars ear, when you trying to keep him.
-
I'm going to let you go back to that original post, and read my reply, not that you really read it to begin with, because if you actually read my responses, we wouldn't still be having this conversation.

Well, now that you've gone from
to this
slipping this in after a bit
and finishing up here
I think my work here is done.
Ignoring the Clippers picks (and probably Gordon) as valuable assets in favor of much worse picks and Lopez meant that you liked lopez so much, that you would pass up on two very good draft picks and a decent player in favor of Lopez and two crappy picks from the Nets. That is definitely over valuing Lopez for certain.
Your funny. You remind me of smackdaddy... how you going to miss things i said like this:
lol
I don't believe the lopez is superman, but I is a major asset. He does need to average more than 6 rebs per game. But tell me how a 7"0 265 Center, that is 23yrs old and averages 50% shooting, 20pts per game, 1.5 blks, and 1.6 apg is NOT an asset. The biggest thing is the position. He is one of the top centers in the game, because there really arent that may in the NBA (True Centers). Gordan is a nice player but there are a tone of 2 guards/wing players in the league. You can find wings late in drafts easier then you can find bigs. Big men have much more value. We also would dump turk, so the money he is taking up would go to lopez.
-
love that you left rbs and mins out of that. ???? Gasol Gortat Chandler Noah are better Lopez is better than varejoa though
I had already stated the facts on the rebounds twice. In that post I was only referring to the value. BTW, gasol rebounding is just as bad and he is older than lopez by 3 years. You dont get many 7ft players averaging 20pts at 23yrs old. I am sorry. He is soft and cant rebound much, but the key to his value on offense and size. We would need enforces to play with him, I cant see gasol, gortat, chandler, or varejoa being better then his offensive value. He is only going to get better.
I dont like lopez and 2 1st round pick for howard. I still think we can get more, but if that is the best deal take it. Lopez is a top ten center and young. I am not over valuing him.
-
Interesting, because yesterday you flatly refused any trade with the Clippers that did not involve Griffin, completely and constantly ignoring any mention of pics from the Clippers being much better than pics we would acquire from the Nets.
After looking at the talent in the next draft; the wolves' pick could be nice. It is more so that I really would like griffin in Orlando. I really do think howard for griffin and another small piece can happen.
-
It's not just me telling you that you are over rating Lopez.
You still haven't answered the question of "If Lopez is so good, and on a great contract, why are the Nets trying to get Nene if they can't get Dwight?"
nene can slide to pf... He has played there and lopez and nene can both hit mid range shots.
