it is a lot of pages to go through and most people just say they dont like him or they dont want him at a top spot (1 or 2). Like the above post, I wanted actual detail regardless of the 20 other posts you mentioned. 20 posts over 100 plus pages is not fun to look through and it is not something I care to do today.

I love the answer. I also saw some of what you have stated personally. I do want to point out a few things. NBA teams can not play the heavy zone. A lot of pgs would have trouble against Syracuse because of the packed in nature of the 2/3. The 2/3 needs to be broken by passes at the high post and low block. So, I dont think this shows a nba weakness. The NBA is man on man and heavy pick and roll, which is Burke's major strength and one of the reasons his game will translate. I also think there are 10 or more pgs better than burke in the NBA. He is not going to come in and be d. rose. Do I think he will be better than greg hill, nelson, and a host of other starting pgs? Yes. And, I think those players are solid NBA starters. Burke has a high chance of being a middle of the road PG, but I think his ceiling, as an impact player, is higher than Bmacs. I think Bmac can be a top 10 shooter. He will not be a go to scorer. He will not be a major impact player. He will be a spacer and a transition scorer. I am thinking hubert davis, dell curry, wesley person, and at best eddie jones. He is not Ray Allen. Ray was an alpha dog. He had a lot more ball handle, work ethic, and a go to scoring state of mind. I also think burke has the chance to be a top shooter and his shot will allow him to keep players off balance. He has the chance to be a bigger more athletic terrall brandon or mark price. I do try to stay away from saying super star levels like steve nash, because he is not there yet. But, he does have a chance to be special. His skill level and work ethic are off the chats. He will have a mean mid game. He will kill players going under screens and his vission is on per with some of the best pt guards. We do need to wait to see if he can make the passes he sees, but only time will tell. He will be better at passing than nelson. And nelson made the Allstars. Why am I sure burke will have a bigger impact? Because, the ball will be in his hands. He will make others better. He will lead a team. It is like a quarter back vs a wide receiver. Play makers are the most important asset in the nba. Bmac is not a playmaker. Burke is a playmaker. How good of a playmaker? Again, only time will tell. There are a lot of good pgs in the league. PG is an important roll, because {normally} they are the playmakers. PGs are hard to get. Teams dont give them away easy and most teams are not two deep with good pgs. Normally, you have either a pass first point or a scoring point, it is also rare to get both. Burke could be of that rare breed.

for those that dont like burke, what is it about his game that you dont like.

Agreed. I dont see him making an effective impact. I see burke and Victor as impact players. I also see them as the hardest working of the bunch. This work effort is what came improve there effectiveness in the future; like JJ.

This is a very good question that I also want to see. Burke has been training at the nba level for 5 years. Hopefully, all his drills and work will pay off at the next level. College and the pro is night and day; grown men vs boys, increased games, speed and size are all factors. One thing to remember, with pgs, there is even more room to work on offense than the college game; once the game slows down and players adjust to the size and speed of players. There is less zoning, no hand checks and normally a secondary ball handler to crack presses.

I agree with the FO. I really do trust them so far. T. Harris and Vooch are prime examples of what they can do. Henny has done well thus far. What about burke dont you like? It has been proven he is above average for size at pg. He is not smart big, but he is not nelson either. What short comings do you see?

I definitely understand. I feel I have been saying the same thing for a whole month. I cant wait until the draft is over and summer league is here.

even nick young can run pick and roll. Nick's handle is still better than bmac. bmac can not get his shot off the dribble. He does not shoot well off the dribble and he cant dribble other than straight line drives. This is what limits him. He is currently a specialist. I would say bmac is a slightly better scoring Michael Petrus. bmac is better at all spots for 3; not just the corners like petrus. He will also be better coming off screens for caught and shoot. This is currently his game. Ray Allen and Nick Young can shoot off the dribble and run pick and roll.

I know ray was an all star. I just dont think bmac has his dribble or will to improve.

All things considered, it's difficult not to consider Burke the best point guard in this year's draft class when evaluating how much of a complete package he brings to the table offensively. Athletic, intelligent, competitive point guards who can create, distribute and score are incredibly rare and coveted assets, and despite his defensive limitations he should have no issues carving out a long career as a NBA starter, as long as he's able to stay healthy. I understand the value of a pick, so I do get way some want to get bmac and trade with a team. The problem is that it takes 2 to make a trade and you cant force a team to give you what you want. I dont want to risk losing burke for the sake of a 2nd round type pick or a weak 1st. If we dont have a pre deal done, before picking, I would not trade. If we can trade picks before our selection, I would make a move. I would not play around with the player we deem to be the best player for us. Burke type players are rarer than bmac types. We can find a 2 that can jump and hit jump shots.

sorry I meant pistons. It was mostly when they were short handed for a stretch. He is some talks about prince as a pt forward. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130131/OPINION03/301310366 Porter does not dibble like prince yet.

Prince played some pt forward for the pistons. His handle is fine. porter has the weaker handle of the two.

It can happen. I say it is 50/50. Though, I am not a big Bmac fan. He is better than noel. He reminds me of courtney lee, without the handles. Very good shot. has the tools to defend. good in the open court. Would you pick courtney lee at number 2. Even if burke is ty Lawson, jason williams, or mike conley, he will be a solid player that can lead a team. I think he has the chance to be more like a mike bibby, terrell brandon, or mark price type. But, no doubt in my mind he will be a solid player. Will Bmac maybe a shorter wesley johnson?
  16. I too liked smart but even than I felt that burke had and has the best pg skills in the draft. Burke will be better than nelson and I feel that Nelson has been great for us despite the hate he gets. I would have taken smart over burke in this draft mostly for the defense and size, but when burke measured at 6'1 6.5.5 ws it changed my ideas of him. Smart had more upside but burke is ready now and has the work ethic to improve. The fact that burke is great in pick and roll and has alot of nba ready skills (passing, nba range, step back, floater, keeping players on the hip off pick and rolls, and surprisingly finishing after contact), I see him doing extremely well at the next level. I remember atl taking marvin williams over chris paul and d. williams, they never recovered from that mistake. They went with what they thought was BPA.

doesnt look like he is going to get on the court. he could barely make d league games. He probably had top 5 talent in last years draft but mental issues are holding him back. Robert swift was in the same boat. Big Cuz should be an all star leading his team to the playoffs, but he has mental issues. Dwight freaking howard, on the down spiral; need I say more. Howard is not really a bust but he should be a much better player and leader for what ever team he is on.

I dont want to be the team that passes on burke. I do think we will regret it. I don't see him failing in a pg driven league. It is one of the most important position in today's game. He has all the tools, the heart, and the work ethic. I have visions of him dropping dimes to Harris on the braking, Nick on pick and roll/pop, and Harkless for alley-hoops. I cant wait to see our pick. Noel would make me :panicworker:/>/> but burke would be :bigparty:/>/>

  20. Character plays a big factor here. harris is no Cousins. Harris only took two weeks off before finding the gym. We also have very good vets to lead. If we had healthy vets, we would have won more. (excluding turk) I tell you. if we keep baby and draft burke, our team is going to play much better. I dont know if we want that but it could happen. We dont need to risk such a bad season on a high risk like noel. It is important to take high skilled players that will bring a curtain level of talent to the team. Look how Oden effected the blazers. Let us not look back and say if we would have gotten this player instead. BMac will at least bring us a shooter and open court player. Burke will give us that needed play-maker You are correct. we need to keep building with stable pieces so we are not like the kings.

200lb c/pf in the nba is going to struggle to guard other bigs and rebound. throw in his the offensive game and the two knee injuries and you have a high bust candidate. What really hurts noel for me is the fact I can not see him live vs other bigs. As a team with the worst record in the league and a really bad season. I dont want it to be for nothing. The more I think of it the more I want to run away. Big board: 1 Burke (I think he has the least chance to bust) 2 Bmac 3 Victor 4 Noel

This draft does not have sure fire star talent, so you want to make sure you grab a quality guy to add to our team. I think burke will be better than nelson and I believe nelson has done well for us over the years.
