  1. The Raptors just made a terrible decision. They gave up their best player on a long term deal for a guy causing drama with the best organization in the league and is coming off a serious injury. To top it off, Kawhi supposedly has zero interest in staying there. They are hoping for a situation like Paul George in OKC, but I think Kawhi is more hard headed than George. Great deal for the Spurs though.

I think "prospect" is an overstatement, he will be 26 going into the season and has played significant amount of pro ball. If anything, he's a back up pg prospect, I don't believe he's our future.

This, being under 30 doesn’t make someone a prospect. He’s not 22 and growing. At best he’s another Shelvin Mack. He can’t shoot and what I hear from Chicago fans he’s not even a good passer. He had a knack for dribbling around and taking bad shots. I’d rather just sign a PG with part of our MLE instead of making a pointless trade for another terrible point guard who can’t shoot.

  3. That is a great contract, I was scared we were going to have to pay him over 100 million but the lack of cap space helped us out. Glad to have Gordon locked up, now let’s trade some of these guys on our roster away and set ourselves up to build around Gordon, Isaac and Bamba and hopefully have some flexibility.

  4. Van Fleet? Considering how terrible our roster is coupled with how terrible our cap situation is, if we actually waste money on ANOTHER BACKUP PG I may actually throw up. There is nothing this team can do to make the roster watchable this year besides land LeBron, we just need to start setting ourselves up for cap space.

Your putting words in my mouth. I never said anything about tanking=ships. In fact I don't think you can make a 100% accurate argument that one is better than other.

I said tanking means better odds at a high pick which means better odds at a good player.

I like those odds better than finding the next Gianni on the lower end of the draft.

I never said that's what you said yourself, just something I hear a lot, especially during the time of Dwight being traded. A majority of fans wanted to get a tank package in return for Dwight instead of one to win with because everyone still had championship on their minds at the time. That is exactly what happened, and it backfired. Maybe it would've worked with a different GM. But my point is, that time has passed. It's time to throw away that mindset (once this season ends).

Lol. Soo tanking promotes losing but a team that extremely tanked are a fringe playoff team BUUUUT, they're not not a championship team while we abandoned tank and has been trying to win for 3 years and not even close to a playoff team is your argument against tanking?!

Point is, their tanking hasn't paid off at all yet. They are currently the 8th seed with the Pistons (who now have a vet All Star) breathing on their necks. If they actually develop a championship team then good on them, BUT THEY HAVE TO OR ELSE THE TANK WAS NOT WORTH IT. You don't justify three straight 60+ loss seasons (including a 72 loss season) on purpose to just be a playoff team.

...and again, absolutely NONE of the championship contending teams in the NBA right now tanked their way to the situations they are in. So, this idea that I keep hearing other Magic fans (not just on here) that we need to tank to build a title contender is just false.

Easily best season? It was 6 more than Frank.

6 wins goes a long ways in the NBA. Plus, last year was the first year post-Dwight where people actually thought the team could contend for a playoff spot and they underachieved miserably. I'm not trying to say Skiles is the greatest guy or coach, but Frank hasn't done any better and again a lot of the stuff Skiles complained about has shown to be true in some way. Maybe if we listened to him and didn't waste so much time trying to build around Payton as the starting PG we could be in a different spot right now, who knows.

He benched Dipo who was playing the hardest and  Frank didn't think EP was a long term piece obviously. Frank just acted like a professional while Skiles acted like a child.

Under Skiles we finished with 35 win...What is giving you the impression we played better?

Maybe because Skiles' season here was easily the best one post-Dwight? Not going to disagree that he was behaving kind of like an idiot, but he may been acting like an idiot our GM was actually being one. Especially now in hindsight a lot of things Skiles said have shown to be true. I wouldn't necessarily even take Skiles back, but at the same time I'm not impressed at all with Vogel either.

Actually us being terrible at tanking is why we are where we are today.

No, the reason we are in the situation we're in now is because of Rob Hennigan's moronic attempt to rebuild this team after trading Dwight. We stripped the roster of talent in an attempt to go young and lose a lot. Which created the culture of youth and losing we're stuck with today. At the time of the Dwight trade, this city and franchise was hungry for championships since we were not far off from playing in the NBA Finals and b2b Eastern Conference Finals. Which is fair to a point, but now 6 years later we are as far off from a championship as ever. Straight up tanking doesn't win you championships. All the teams contending for the title this year didn't tank to get where they are, this idea that you need to strip your roster down and just suck until your savior comes is just crazy because you're gambling your franchise on getting lucky on a 19/20 year old. Plus, even if your team sucks enough doesn't guarantee you the pick to get any potential star players. The only pro-tanking argument I see much of these days is the 76ers, which kind of makes me laugh since right now Philly is a fringe 8th seed who does have a lot of young talent but these talented youngsters have a lot of injuries and question marks on them going forward. The 76ers HAVE to win a championship with this core to be worth putting their fans through some of the worst basketball in NBA history to get a chance to land them.

Like I said,  this season is a lost cause already and the draft has good potential so I'm fine with just tanking to finish. Which Vogel won't do, we'll have to rely on our own terrible play. But going forward, please put an end to this BS.

There are other ways to win than tanking. Using cap space wisely, taking on good pieces from teams looking to start tanking, for one. If we aren't going to tank, we have to start using cap space as an asset. Look for solid players other teams aren't going to re-sign due to overload at the position, or guys who are being used poorly. Right now this strategy would look like us showcasing Evan Fournier and then trading him for assets. Same with Vuc. Get picks (AND USE THEM, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!), get young guys, whatever. But don't ever sign bad contracts, and don't get too attached to any one prospect. Develop young guys, but know that they may be used to build further assets. Houston did this back in the day, slowly building a solid-but-not-good team, then cashing in a bunch of assets to get Harden. New Jersey is trying to do this now, but I think they may go back to tanking once their picks become their own. Boston did this, really (though it helps when you get the biggest trade robbery in recent memory). Dallas may be doing this, now... sort of. The problem is we don't seem to be tanking OR using our cap space wisely. Hopefully the new management does the latter a bit better than Hennigan did. So far, they've been very cap-conservative, with the Mario situation and the Elfrid trade. But we have no real clue what they'll do once we have some cap room. The fact that we never seemed to be actively trying to trade Fournier makes me think we're still in evaluation mode.

Tanking is so overrated. None of the best teams in the league right now tanked for their best players. All the tanking strategy has done for us is waste 6 years of our short lives on bad basketball and set up the darkest age in the history of this franchise. With this season already a lost cause I'm fine with tanking to finish, but I don't want to hear anymore of it going forward. Life is way too short to throw away YEARS for the possibility of getting a star who might lead you to a championship. Plus, even if we do get one that doesn't guarantee diddly either. Not like the Pelicans have won big with Anthony Davis and I think the dude is a top 5 player in the NBA.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Golden State won't win the title.  They don't have any motivation or pressure on them to do so. During the course of the season, they've just gotten more casual against opponents and stopped caring about quality ball.  Their turnovers have truly cost them.

The Thunder and  Rockets have all the proper motivation to win..because they haven't gotten a taste.  The Warriors have been to three straight finals and they're running out of gas.  They are clearly burnt out.  Thunder have truly challenged them and in both games have completely control the pace of the game.  Westbrook has the proper motivation against Durant.  Durant shows up but the rest of the Warriors are worn out.

Its either Rockets or Thunder may come out of the West this year.  The probability is complete plausible.

    Rockets? Maybe, Thunder? Hell naw

They've played well against them this year, but they just lack the depth and they lost one of their best defenders. It wouldn't surprise me if they lost in round one depending on who they play tbh.
