  1. i think the magic got a 2 guys that might work out especially the one they traded for. i am sure there is more to come. however i wish the measurements woukd be realistic. why list 6'8" guys at 6' 10". call it like it is.
  2. have to agree with that. i was just thinking it would be great to have jr smith and gil at the guards. the magic would be the most watched team in the nba to never win it all. why is everyone so down on the players we have. i do not think you trade for just the sake of change. i think we surely need a pg but to trade nelson without getting a big improvement is useless.
  3. jareth, i am amazed you finally said something us old guys can relate to. i have to agree with you on some of your statement. however i think the magic should look at moving hedo, jameer, and duhon for a pg. i am still not sold on gil but he will be impossible to get rid of. re-sign j-rich. he is better than what's out there. a defensive player would help at any position.

    Offseason Thread part 2

you guys make for some minor entertainiment but at the end of the day how many have actually followed the nba path of ellis. think about the magic defense with ellis as the sg and gil as the pg. the word defense would not exist. the magic would be better off with nelson and jj. also the offense would be out of control. might be fun to watch at times but do you really think this team could win it all with those two bone heads. who guards rose, wade, rondo, etc. i can not believe the magic woud give up 2 or 3 solid young players to get a small no defense sg. they would be better off to look at other options.

    Offseason Thread part 2

i am sure everyone knows that the nba is first a big business. howard is being advised by his agent and finance manager. he is doing what he needs to do to maximize his earning power. if it means staying in orlando then i think tha is what he wants. however he will be advised to do what is best for his future earnings. the orlando magic will do the same and keeping him in orlando must be their number one objective. everyone wants to win because that is what generates the big money for the owners and players. getting it done is the big question. the magic are close with the team they have. one more strong player at pg or sf and they can make it. i would use nelson and hedo to get that player.

    What this team lacks

have to agree with magicinfresno completely. the order of importance is correct also. nelson is a good guy and a good pg but he would be better as a second unit guy. gil is done in my mind. i just do not see the urgency to play hard in his makeup. you have to defend the paint and the pg position to win a championship. we have one but we need the other.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

what ever the magic do they have to get an upgrade at the pg position and that is not gil. also i do not think they will trade jj. he is a great role player and team guy who fills a big need off the bench and can start when needed. i would do the deal to get brand and iggy and somehow find a pg who can defend and run the team.

Golden State confirms talks with Orlando

great players play defense because it is part of them and it is a big part of winning. ellis will never be a good defender because it not in his make up. with him and nelson the magic would have the worst defensive guards in the nba. at leasy jj is bigger and gives you a solid effort on defense, is much smarter, and does what it takes to win. not to mention he is a solid guy and fills the seats at amway. plus ellis wil not get 20 shots a night and his average will drop. i am all for getting a scorer but j-rich and jj are better for this team than ellis. get someone else.

    Gilbert Arenas Twitter

what a waste of time. when we got gil i was excited but i will be more excited when he is gone. we have enough distractions as it is. what was the magic thinking. otis should be fired for this alone.

Monta Ellis on the trading block

let me see if i have this right. we have gil and now we want to trade for ellis. after we get j.r. smith and mayo we would have four of the most undisiplined, no defense, nut cases in the nba. howard would be lucky to get a shot and we win 30 games and lose by 110 to 120 most of the time. sounds like a lot of fun to me. lets do it otis.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

i think getting jr smith would be great. we then have the 2 biggest nut cases in the nba. throw in mayo and it's a trifecta.

    Grade Otis Smith Sentinel Article

frist grading otis means nothing. he is at most just an advisor to the devos family. they have others making the big decision. his advice has been poor especially giving up lee for vince, giving up gortat, and the worst is gil. however he surely did not make the final decision on any of these deals. with that being said, i think there will be some big moves this summer to improve the pg/pf positions. they have to defend, rebound, and hopefully learn to pass. i am excited to see what happens. we will all be surprised.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

i say dump both of them. i do not see much future in either one. hopefully the new cba will give the magic the opportunity to do just that.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

have to agree with marc acres on j-rich. if he woulds take a big cut i would keep him. as for the other debate i would take granger, gay, and iggy. we need to get bigger, stronger, and smarter. i do no see that in smith or ellis. no defense and out of control. never fit with stan.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

not bad. i like it. i am sure the summer will be full of surprises.

    How to fix the Magic.....

i have been on this board since december of 2006. a number of really sharp guys came along at that time including bj.most have quit posting except bj and myself. he and i had many harsh words over jj in the early years of his career. however we got past that and he has changed the way he brings his message. we can not change past mistakes by the magic or posters on this board. otis is not alone in the magic problems or decision making. so the question today is how to best fix what most of us think is wrong. this is what i think. first the magic need a starting pg who can run an offense and be a defensive minded player. i do not see gil getting that much better and nelson is a secound unit player. next they need to adress the offense. howard needs to learn to pass and cut down turn overs. they need to decide on jj. start him and get him more involved in the offense if you do not sign j rich. also hedo needs to be with nelson on the secound unit or somehow how traded with nelson. most likely anderson or bass or both will be moved to get tougher and bigger up front. what do you think?

Could be the end for a lot of guys

we do need a pf who can defend and rebound but to win a championship the magic's most important need is at pg period. to continue to avoid this issue is not reality. no matter how you cut, it if gil does not get better this team will struggle with nelson. also hedo has to go.

    Size matters in NBA

as bad as it is, i have to agree with this. however i do not see gill making it and nelson will most likely remain the starter. the magic are doomed at pg.

Game 5 Orlando vs. Hawks Tuesday Night 7:30

i have often wondered why the magic have not tried to let him try to take over but with howard and nelson it resatricts his shot attempts. if anyone had the chance to watch him at duke he would shoot like that for 3 or 4 games in a row with the other team trying everything to stop it. in the nba it would be hard but it is worth a try when every thing else is not working. now that the rest of his game is much improved he should have a bigger role in the offense. call me a jj homer i accept it.
  21. gil scares me to death. he is a bad shot turn over machine with no defense. however you have to give him credit when he does contribute. his passing was great and he gets it to whoever is open quickly. on the other hand nelson is selective in his passing and a slow decision maker. however he is still the better player at this point.

    Gamethread: Magic @ Hawks - Game 4

i am amazed at what happened last night. i thought jj would do well and he failed. i did not think gil was worth playing and he gets 20. if jj had made a few shots gil would most likely not played. the problem with this team is their offensive stradegy when the games are close. nelson is just dribbling around lost and hedo is no longer a clutch shooter. the need a plan that is more organized. stan can not make shots but he can have a better game plan. howard needs to pass more when they double and triple team him. he should have 4or 5 assists a game.

    Gamethread: Magic @ Hawks - Game 4

gilbert is basically useless. playing him at any spot would be a diaster. i wished at some point that i was wrong but the bottom line is he does not feel the urgency to compete at the playoff level. jj will have to come up big tonight or we are in trouble. also hedo and nelson have to stop somebody. i am going out on a limb and say jj gets 20 and we win.
  24. jacklj13

Why the Hawks will win this series.

i hope that you have the good sense to never visit this board again. the magic are light years ahead of the hawks and will prove it in the next two games on your court. best of luck to you.
  25. gil is useless at this point and should not be used. to much of a risk. when the margin for victory is so close a bone head mistake can be a change maker. duhon does not have the intensity level to be in the playoffs and with no offense. he should only play if you have an injury. i like hedo at pg and jj can guard their pg. plus he gives you smarts, hustle, and offense. he will shoot better and drive and kick. i can not believe anyone would use the other 2 over jj.
