Could be the end for a lot of guys

i thought thats what you meant but wasn't sure, so I asked a question to clarify which you did....the top 5 PG is a good debate - I think at worst DWill is top 3 and he has never had anyone as big and athletic to play with - can u imagine him with Dwight....he's one (if not the best) pick n roll pg and also is big and an above average defender....oh man...

you would rather have Jameer/Hedo/Bass/Anderson paired with Dwight instead of the best PG in the NBA paired with Dwight + you get to dump Hedo's salary? ...Call me crazy but I would rather have the best C in the NBA getting fed by the best PG in the NBA even if you have to fill around them with MLE and vet contracts... I choose that over 4 inconsistent fringe starters any day. Miami did it with 2 top wings and 1 good pf. We would already have a cheap 10 mpg ok back up C and three gritty role players (JJ/Noccioni/Q). The MLE and vet minimums would get us pretty good players lining up to play next to Williams and Howard. It's not like we'd be trying to find a starting pg or starting center like Miami either...

never mind totally fkd up salary - $alary still at around 70M so filling the wing/pf gaps would be difficult w mle

Orlando in: D Will / J Petro / A Noccioni Orlando out: Nelson / Bass / Anderson / Hedo Nets in: Iggy / J Holiday / Hedo / 3.3M trade exception Nets out: J Will / Outlaw / Petro 76's in: Nelson / Bass / Anderson / Outlaw 76's out: Iggy / Noccioni / Holiday why?: Orlando - if this trade happened right now it would make our salary at $32M giving us around $26M in cap space to fill the Wing / PF holes ...and of course gives Magic the best PG and the best C in NBA plus 3 solid hustle/defensive/3pt shooting role players in JJ/Q/Nocioni. (edit) would only have mle to fill holes Nets: get a great young cheap pg locked in for 3-4 years paired with Iguodala and Hedo to make a potent skilled perimeter with 2 above average defenders around Hedo. Can't see Nets getting as good a package for DWill who they were very likely losing anyhow but in Orlando they find a team that he will resign with because of D12. 76's: Finally move Iguodala's contract but lose Holiday - Nelson is a pretty good a compensation - but the true payoff is 3 very good young players. Also relieves them of Noccioni contract which for a role player is too high for a rebuilding team. Not sure if 76's are willing to lose Holiday to clear Iggy but they do add size, leadership and shed salary MAGIC DWill / Arenas / Duhon JJ / Q ? / Nocioni ? / ? Dwight / Petro 76's Nelson / Williams / Meeks Meeks / Turner Outlaw / ? Bass / Anderson Brand / Speights NETS J Holliday / Farmar Iggy / Morrow / Graham Hedo / Graham / James ? / ? Lopez

you really think I don't know the difference between rfa an ufa - you're pretty smart for a 12 year old girl...please feel free to come up with that 3 team trade that gets us Iggy and Philly a legitimate starting quality center....
  6. your right I'll be dumb and ignorant from now on
  7. all the more to support your local (non corporate owned establishments) - I can see that logic when it comes to groceries etc. but restaurants?
  8. laughing because you don't understand what that means from a culinary point of view or are you giggling because understanding what that implies about the tendencies of a regional culture is outside your capacity/willingness to decipher information.

not saying you were wrong - but rumors tend to work that way - distortion and amplification of facts is the norm....so you have to adjust for reality
  10. whats with all the chain restaurant love on here....haven't lived there in a long time but are there not any unique small mom and pop type places left in orlando...screw chain restaurants and their generic corporate taste...support local businesses --- in new smyrna beach "the sea harvest" or thats what it was called when I lived there was incredible for fish sandwiches

we don't need a flashy name top tier player....we need at least two wings with consistent good energy, good BB IQ, low turnover and most importantly with good to great defense. Those can be found if you look deeper and not at the fantasy stat rankings.

The Q>Barnes argument is a distorted argument. If Hedo was here 2 years ago with Barnes - SVG would have started Hedo. Neither were great but the type of personnel and the results show alot: the Magic are a more balanced and overall a better team when at least one of the starting SG/SF position are held down by a defensive specialist (whatever offense attained at that spot is bonus).

and that means what? that they have more leverage (less need) and thus making any offer the Magic can make less valuable... ...4 and 5 team trades exist also - who cares - Philly has plenty of options with two team trades that gets them a big - so what is this 3 team trade utilizing the Magic that gets Philly more value for Iguodala and that this third team values the Magic's assets more than Iguodala while giving up a starting caliber PF/C...

The 76's want a quality big that can handle playing big minutes at center, they have been trying to get one for a while. That need becomes even more intense this offseason as Hawes and Battie became UFA - - and Speights becomes an UFA next summer (plus he never really was able to take the starting C spot which was there for the taking anyhow.) They will also need a wing as T Young becomes a UFA next summer and if they trade Iggy they start to get real thin as they only have Noccioni who can play wing after that. They do not need any guards unless it is a no brainer type of major upgrade as they have a very inexpensive young rotation of Holiday, Williams, Turner and Meeks - all signed for 2-4 more years except for Meeks who can be a RFA next summer. -- As has been discussed many times on this board a combination of Bass and Anderson plus either JJ or Hedo (and maybe throw in some unquantified assets (Orton/Fran) would be the best we could offer....would it be worth to lose that much for him? four rotation players including 2 starters? we would have glaring holes at PF that would have to be addressed with very little: MLE or S/T of JRich. Anyhow its not going to matter anyways as there will be many better offers than what we have - for example: the Clippers have Kaman who would fill their big need and on a short contract that simultaneously saves them around $30M ...plus the Clips can throw in a draft pick to sweeten the deal as they have 3 quality first round picks over the next two years (2 LAC + 1 Minny) and 4 - 2nd round picks (2 LAC + 1 Houston + 1 Det)...only question is does LAC want to spend that kind of money? given they have so many picks stacked up.

just being realistic...ignoring the fact that Memphis is in the middle of their best playoff run ever and a huge realization by their fans and ownership that defense wins playoff basketball. Tony Allen and Shawn Battier etc. have totally frustrated OKC's wings. The increased minutes to their defensive players due to Gay's injury showed them the way. Gay is a subpar defender who takes terrible shots a lot and is Bass - like in his passing willingness/ability. Do you really think that Hedo/Rich's good offense / horrible defense did not have anything to do with Magic getting eliminated? In the past years it was perimeter defense of Barnes, Lee, or Pietrus that often kept us in games when our shots where not falling. Gay can score but will compound our already porous perimeter - putting strain on other positions to cover up that flaw.

important part of my statement was that Jameer "is paid like a starting point guard" - no way Memphis takes on a starters salary for a player they don't need at a position rotation that they are very happy with. The only advantage to them is that they get rid of Gay's contract but they can absolutely do better than what your proposal (anything the Magic can offer) in both cap relief, quality/position of players returned

last I saw Jameer Nelson is paid like a starting point guard , and they just drafted and have on their payroll a very cheap and good young pg in Vasquez

Could be the end for a lot of guys

your argument is based on JRich getting around $6 -7M a year for a 31 year old player who's weaknesses where exposed with the Magic not to mention the position duplication your trade makes. Why wouldn't they just offer Battie that contract but much less $ and distraction than JRich? Plus do the Magic really want to give up that combination of players for a player that doesn't play defense, horrible passer, and reputation for horrible shot selection for four more years and $60 Million? really ... don't you think anyone saw how efficient Memphis's offense got and how much better their defense got once Gay got hurt in February.
  19. what makes you think other teams beside LA won't be in the picture...sign and trades don't have to be 1-1 it can be a three team deal that gives the third team Bynum - just off the top of my head NJ will have cap room and agility to do it giving both LA and Nets what they want and leaving the Magic with a huge exception that they have to use within a year or lose in its entirety which btw is something Cleveland is freaking at about because the whole new CBA negotiations might means there is a good chance they will lose it meaning they lost Lebron for garbage picks throwing salt on the wound...

Could be the end for a lot of guys

so they would have 2 starting point guards and would have to give an older SG a contract that btw also duplicates players they already have but cheaper and younger and much better defenders...
  21. magicLA

Could be the end for a lot of guys

why would they need JRich and Redick? they just signed Tony Allen and have Mayo until at least 2012 which hey is the same as when JJ's contract ends ...and why in the hell would they want to give JRich a 31 year old his final contract? possibly a good contract - huh wait what?! and on top of that your giving them Hedo's contract with at minimum $23 million owed to a team that does not need a SF and much less an expensive lazy no defense older one....Heisley does this why?
  22. no - that is not what I said, Dan Gilbert said he would not give Lebron a S/T which would make Miami signing easier but he quickly realized if he didn't he would get back ZERO making a bad situation even worse. and the recovery for the Magic wont be as easy...because of two very big virtually unmovable contracts
  23. and that way you ensure yourself the worse possible return on a once in a decade player, brilliant....you need not look further than Cleveland except add in Hedo and Arenas contracts which means a much worse recovery than the Cavs because at least they had a few assets that they could actually move to dump salary...and even with that at best their hoping for a top 3 pick that in 2 years might get them to the first round of the playoffs... if by trade deadline Dwight hasn't committed, Otis will move him. Any entry level business person knows that and with two recent templates laying out the dynamics and results of those (losing franchise player) types of negotiations and that the Magic already lost Shaq its a no brainer to see what will happen if Dwight doesn't commit prior to the deadline.
  24. Dan Gilbert thought the same thing in regards to Lebron/Miami until he woke up and realized he was sodomizing himself by doing so

I don't think so because the only salaries we have that match that kind of contract are really Arenas and Hedo which are pretty undesirable right now. This option doesn't net us a go to guy but gets us a solid big and gives us more wiggle room in 2012 ORL (PF/C) C Kaman (SF/PF) R Gomes *Kaman gives us a legit starting quality big to rotate behind Dwight - only ? is can he coexist with D12 defensively as they occupy same space - on paper its doable; also his contract expires summer 2012 * Gomes replaces Q but with flexibility to rotate up to PF if needed; solid good sized defender and average offensive game with 3pt range MEM (PF/C) B Bass (SG/SF) Q Rich *Bass gives them the final piece to their big rotation as they are losing Hadadi to free agency *Q replaces Battier in their wing rotation who they are losing to free agency *clears a huge contract off their books LAC (SF) R Gay (PG) C Duhon *Clips biggest hole at SF is drastically upgraded and perfect match to go with Griffin and Gordon *Duhon fills their 3d string PG need and gives them option to use Foye's expiring at deadline Nelson / Arenas ? / JJ / Arenas Hedo / Gomes Kaman / Anderson / Gomes Howard / Kaman / Anderson *Clark if resigned at SF/PF also
