    Simmons thinks we're getting Wallace.

first of all, you are right, wallace isnt max contract worthy. that being said, he is by no means offensively inept. he is better than what we have at the two now, on off. and def. so he would be a major upgrade. like i said in a previous thread, if nelson is going to be in this teams future, he will be a backup 2 guard and then a backup point. i proposed a lineup of redick/dooling at the one, wallace/jameer/hill at the two, ariza/turk at 3, darko/batman 4, and dwight of course at 5. with that lineup our defense would be even better than it is now, but so would our offense. ariza and wallace on the court together would be insane. they are prototypical athletes that would run run run. they could run while jj dished and trailed back behind plays for jumpers, then we have darko on the wing stretching things out. thats the direction we should go. ariza and wallace are combo forwards that can play 3 positions. that comes in very handy if your team gets hit with injuries, keep their versatility in mind. btw pietrus would be a steal too...

    ESPN INSIDER: Blueprint Orlando

all the more reason to forget about signing a max contract player like carter or lewis, and keep milicic and possibly sign gerald wallace. he wont require anything near what the other guys want.
  3. i would like to see all the nba refs boycott...its not like there arent a thousand refs out there who couldnt do what they do.

    Lineup for next year...

i know, lets have johnny davis come in and replace otis as gm, have bill walton as head coach, and bring in scott skiles as the community ambassador. throw in artest for a front office position and we would have the best brass around!

    Lineup for next year...

with our future being brighter than our current playoff hopes, this is what i would like to see atleast tried as far as lineups go next year: note: this includes the addition of gerald wallace via free agency. pg: split it evenly between Dooling/Redick. i know this seems kinda scary(bad, not good scary), but i think this would work. As long as Dooling continues to show defensive prowess. JJ has good size for pg and a higher IQ, plus he can do stop and pop jumpers, which are valuable at the 1( aka Nash)..overall they contrast eachother well. JJ wont get manhandled on D as much as he would guarding 2's. sg: Wallace/Jameer/Hill. Wallace is a stud, i would have him anywhere on my team. He+Ariza=new arena in no time. Jameer is a 2 stuck in a 1's body, enough said. Hill is a leader. sf: Ariza/Turk/Hill. Ariza is the future i believe, but Turk is better than rashard lewis. You cant deny his talents. 60% ariza 40% Turk on the court at the 3 next year. Give or take a little for when one or the other is struggling. pf: Darko/Battie. This is darko's spot. Batman is a good leader and garbage man. Glad to have him. c: fran...need i say more? this team reminds me of a younger, more defensively stalwart(albeit poorer ft%)version of phoenix. you cant go wrong with similarities to phoneix with more defense. btw, it shouldnt matter who backs up dwight. he should be an ironman by next year. 40min+ every night. maybe doleac or pollard behind him. you cant count on gortat, yet. btw2, magic will get 7th seed and beat either cle or chi in 6. then lose to tor in the next round. Go Magic! murph
  6. i saw this coming, he was rediculous.
  7. even though marion is a good player, i would opt for other players. i still think gerald wallace is the guy we should target. ariza and wallace are both younger, cheaper, and have arguably as much upside as marion does. giving up turk, darko, and arroyo + 1st rounder is too much productivity for one player, unless its garnett or shaq or someone like that.

    Lineup for next year...

as long as the magic control the tempo, i think they will succeed with either a fast-paced or slowdown offense. its up to the players to produce, at this level, the coach should just be there for moral support and to make subs.

    Lineup for next year...

we might have to get keyon to opt out in order to secure enough room for darko and miller. although that wouldnt be ideal for our chemistry. i like what dooling brings to the table...although he would be expendable if we get andre miller in return.

    Lineup for next year...

would it be possible/likely to trade turk and jameer for miller, then sign wallace straight up as a fa? that would be a killer offseason. we wouldnt even need the draft.

i tend to agree, although you could then kiss our pg debate goodbye...is it worth the extra salary?

    Magic Jersey

    have you tried ebay?
  13. Murphy13

    Lineup for next year...

i would do that, but jameer and dooling only make a combined 6 mil next year. millers contract is 10 mil next year...maybe if we add bogans...

    Lineup for next year...

was that an acrimonious response lets go magic? or were you serious? its hard to tell on the boards. regarding turk....not jameer

    Lineup for next year...

no blinders on here, just building a team without putting financial handcuffs on the magic like all those that want a glorified near max contract type player like rashard lewis that doesnt stand far above turk in output. i am sick of people thinking that adding individuals is going to bring a championship. anyone who has played organized ball knows that a cohesive team will beat a conglomeration(sp.) of expensive talent.
  16. Murphy13

    Lineup for next year...

i like andre miller a lot, but will philly let him go for jameer? i think thats what you are suggesting, right? i wouldnt if i was them.
  17. Murphy13

    Lineup for next year...

turk has a better contract, for starters. he fits a team puzzle better so that we can afford our "superstars" you so eloquently said. not to mention he provides similar offensive effeciency despite playing considerably less. and he can block shots on occasion, which helps. how often do you find someone with turks ability relishing the 6th man position? i am not hating on lewis. i like him, but not as much as wallace. turk only costs us 6mil. whereas lewis is already at 10+per year. and he is just now reaching his prime. he isnt at the point in his career to take a paycut.

    Celtics Announcers

the other night in mil, the announcers were hating on dwight too...the out of town announcers have consistently gotten the magic stats wrong too. they(MIL) said among other things that orlando isnt a good fastbreak team...someone needs to do their homework before games instead of whatever it is they do when they arent commentating.

    MAGIC NUMBER...1

youre settling for mediocrity if your goal is just to make the playoffs...playing it safe will get you the 8th seed and put you into NBA purgatory. we have a chance to succeed at the 7 seed.

    MAGIC NUMBER...1

NJ or WAS can have sixth, whoever is there will lose to TOR anyways(including us). I want seventh. i truly truly think we would beat either CLE or CHI in a series.
  22. all in all dooling plays better defense than our pgs. he also gets his hands on more steals too.
  23. jameer had a pretty decent line last night with points and assist:t.o. ratio... that being said, he blew it in the first quarter, jumping in the air under the basket multiple times with nowhere to go. i hate it when he does that. and as far as i am concerned, he blew it in the fourth too by missing WIDE OPEN DWIGHT twice. He also got his prayer blocked once again right under the basket. I would have blocked that shot and i am only 6'3". Sheed is a seven footer! starting pgs and team leaders are supposed to be able to score 10-11 straight points for a team if needed. hell ghill did it too, i am not giving nelson kudos for something he is supposed to be in there doing. by the way, seven assists is not that good, just slightly above average...nelson just cant dime. btw... Dwight blew it too! his offensive ineffeciency is astounding! that WILL get better with time though.

    Winning, Why?

whats with fansince1990's attitude? its a little immature to call someone dimwitted when they say that it takes time to learn a playoff style system. which is a true statement i might add, especially for a team that hasnt even made the playoffs yet. i could use this opportunity to burn you for incorrect statements but instead i will leave you to mull over how assinine you sound in that particular post you made. everyone is entitled to their opinions. by the way, d-bo is on the right track with his post about howard and the outside-in game. its almost like the triangle offense. not exactly like it though.

    Winning, Why?

a slow down, grinding offense would be very effective in a seven game series for the magic. especially against the likes of cleveland(and miami) who both tend to struggle on offense at times. thats what matters(the seven game series). a lot of teams can slow down a game and win against a single opponent during the regular season, but its not proven they can do it effectively against a team that can slow it down consistently over a stretch of 5 games or so. 1) the last 20 games of the season last year, the magic averaged a shade under 100 ppg. they did this while holding opponents to under 95ppg. the reason for the higher off. ppg was increased productivity on the offensive end. however the reason for the wins was the overall good defense to go with the offense. they achieved the defense by forcing most opponents to play their style of game. yes, the solution's answer is correct for #1 to an extent. however, my long-winded opinion is that the intagibles came together just right within the team to allow for increased offensive production along with the teams biggest strength, slowing down the opponents game, forcing them to play the tempo the magic want. there is a direct corrolation to the magic winning and their ability to control the tempo. the intagibles likely came from the exile of francis, obviously. we cant blow up the team everytime a change is needed. that will only give you mediocrity. 2) their momentum coupled with their ability to control the tempo allowed for their fast start. let me use this short answer to say this about bhill. i dont blame him for the losses this year any more so than the players. at the professional level, the coach is only there because you have to have one. yes, truly great coaches make a difference, however just like in pickup games its up to the five on the floor to take care of business. a great coach is hard to find, and thankfully, unnecessary. its just about taking care of business. i will not sign the petition until its clear that the leaders of the team have lost confidence in bhill(ghill or howard). 3) we have beaten mediocre teams(2). we are not a winning team. now that i got that off my chest, we could be a surging team very soon. but in order for that to happen we need turk to continue to step up, and we need someone(redick, ghill) to get to the free throw line and offset the points we are missing because of d-ho's inability to do what stars do. you are not a winning team unless you win more than you lose. the playoffs are a new season. i cant wait. hold it....the optimist is coming out in me...howard is saving his long overdue explosions for the playoffs. he will step up in the playoffs and prove dickie v. wrong for good(in regards to the okafor controversy) and silence the critics who rate bosh, amare, or curry ahead of him. howard needs to make opposing centers start calling him daddy. thats our best chance for winning. personally, i think that we, the magic, should set our crosshairs on cleveland. we could make some noise if we face them then miami in the second round. assuming they can beat washington.
