LoL thats what makes you wonder/hope that something is still in the works, because that is fishy. although i am slowly coming to the realization that otis just got dooped...

LOL not true, i said no to lewis from the start. i saw this coming, and i think other people did too. the sad thing is, lewis isnt even that good.

    Seattle agrees to S&T {ESPN}

with the way redick is playing, i say we target a point with the tradeable assets if thats our plan.

No Battie in the starting 5. shard cant play pf at all. he got abused in the west. it will be even worse in the east.

    Kevin Kruger

i played ball with him in high school, he has a good shot and hes alright, but he didnt strike me as nba talent, just well coached(his dad coached the hawks at the time)

if this is all true, i would expect to hear a statement from either cornhole, i mean cornstein or darko himself pretty soon.

Otis had to change his tune and he even stated we will sign a big free agent tomorrow, and move on. What clearer message could he send to Seattle than this......... i hope your right, but i think that seattle is going to call otis' bluff. they are still under the cap letting lewis go, and thats whats important to them, a rebuilding club. They will actually only be $900,000 under the cap. If they take our expirings, they'll be up to $11M under the cap PLUS their own expirings. if thats the case, then they would be going over the cap this year to attain our expiring contracts? why would they do that?

this is not good, i dont think its posturing if that is truly a quote from otis. hopefully we can execute s&t with seattle to clear room for darko. if he isnt getting offers about the mle, arent we still allowed to go over the cap to sign him?
  11. i hope kevin kruger finds a spot...played highschool ball with him in marietta, ga. nice kid. longshot to make it though.

    reality for thee ignorant fans

darko is a good player, despite his lack of opportunities to pad his stats like other new members of the magic enjoyed. with darko, you have someone who makes contributions that dont necessarily show up in the box score sheet. the funny thing is, i hypothesize that most of the people knocking on darko are the ones who havent really seen him play. anyone who has seen him play knows he is a difference maker. given starters minutes next year, he will probably be the number one shotblocker in the league. but definately top 3. he is a great shotblocker, he has a good, smooth jump shot from the top of the key, and hes capable of grabbing the weak side rebounds. not to mention that for a big man, he has pretty good court vision, rarely makes poor passes. the thing that darko needs to improve on the most is his stamina. and anyone that watches the magic frequently will second that. on another note, since i live in kansas city, i have been paying alot of attention to the sonics on league pass the past two years. because they are trying to get the franchise. i am happy to get a scorer like rashard lewis, however, his game wont improve our record alone. he isnt a difference maker, im sorry to say that. he takes a lot of shots. that aside, with him and some additional help, including darko, we will be alright. artest is intriguing. the only thing is, you all know we will only have him for one season at the most. if he behaves, then he will opt out and get more money from someone else, since the magic will be hand tied the next five years because of shard. and of course if he doesnt behave then he will be gone regardless. so is it worth it? since the magic's image has taken a hit the past few months, i say why not? the good news is that even though we will lose him after next season is that it will lower our salary. i like turk though. he is underrated and has a terrific salary. so i would be sad to see him go.

Is Rashard Overpaid?? No With Proof!!

quote: Originally posted by LetsGoMagic: quote: its going to take time to get used to being the main option. he has never had the other teams best defender guarding him If you go back and look at the last 15 games of the season where Ray Allen was injured. By a quick glance you can easily see that Rashards Lewis's scoring numbers are higher then 22ppg average he had. Im quite sure those teams put there best defenders on him during that time. Can he be a teams 1st option? Without a doubt he can. Now im not going to say he will average 25ppg this year becuase I dont think the Magic will need him to do that. Having Hedo, Howard, and Nelson will take care of the offense we need I do think Lewis has the ability to average 25ppg if he had to. Lewis, was needed this year when our offense sputtered in the 4th and couldnt get things going. having him this will prevent that and give us the consistant offense we needed. Especially in tight games when we needed a goto guy. i agree with everything you say, but i have a question. turk carried this team down the stretch in very much the same way as rashard did. does that make him worthy of a 15mil/year contract and a full season of being the man? or do you think someone stepped it up the last 3 weeks of the season in a contract year? i would just like to clarify that in my original post i said that i believe that he wont avg. 25-30 in the first year. i truly believe in 2-3 seasons he could be above the 25ppg plateau as he gets more savvy.

This thread has nothing to do with expecting 30 ppg out of Shard. Your two previous posts are absolutely rediculous, and I am not even going to both explaining why. if you arent going to explain yourself, then why waste our time with your comments??? you take once sentence out of two of my posts and call the whole thing rediculous? and also this isnt about 25-30ppg? the whole point of this thread was to look at the salaries and compare them to other scorers...for the most part most of the people in the list in the same salary area as rashard averaged 25-30 points, didnt they? so i consider it pertinent my uninformed friend. not to mention that my main idea was that those other players with similar salary brought something else to the table, which shard doesnt(yet). how much is a one dimensional player worth to you? im not a shard hater, just a realist. i like him in fact. i dont like how he just tied up all flexibility for the next five years though. unless he becomes an all around player...and i will cheer him regardless bc he is on the Magic. please refrain from forcing asinine remarks upon this board. also d-bo, you cant take two players from seperate teams and use your kobe analogy. they need to be from the same team to make sense. lets say kobe avg'd an even 30ppg. and he gets traded to, lets say indiana for oneal and tinsley. just for grins lets say they avg'd 20pts and 10pts respectively. who would be better off in a trade on paper? since thats all we can argue with? indiana counted on those 30 combined pts from the two players already, so taking them away and adding 1 30ppg player, do they gain any additional offensive threat? thats my point, obviously its all speculation at this point but its certainly possible....you cant deny that. and for all those out there who dont care about shard's defense...defense wins championships... also he is known for being a poor defender, not just a 'not very good' defender. there is a difference.

Is Rashard Overpaid?? No With Proof!!

i agree that you have to pay up for a good scorer, but i hate to break the news, but rashard isnt going to average 25ppg, much less 30. he may average 21 a game his first season here. its going to take time to get used to being the main option. he has never had the other teams best defender guarding him...secondly, even if he does average what he did last year(22), it could be completely negated by darko(8) and turk(14) leaving. and turks per game average doesnt indicate what he can do...he was having 30 point games at the end of the season. oh by the way, the majority of the people on that list mentioned are better scorers, and a lot of them bring something else to the table aside from offense. i would take most of them over rashard...in my opinion, this thread doesnt argue in favor of rashard, but against him... if you want to make him seem worth the money, put together a youtube clip of him making all blocked shots and good defensive stops, because thats where the liability is.
  18. nothing of substance mentioned...just a 'bskBall' guys opinion, which is shared by just about everyone else. i am glad to hear that i am not the only one who thinks that we paid too much for shard.

Are we again becoming the Orlando Tragic?

As I said before its too early to tell what going to happen. You cant bash a guy for unfinished work. theres nothing creative about resigning darko now that hes unrestricted because as i understand it, we are allowed to go over the cap to retain him now...unless the creativity was renouncing him to get rashard then resigning him. but then why didnt he just do that from the start??? something isnt adding up...

Are we again becoming the Orlando Tragic?

these boards are whats tragic right now. people have the worst attitudes and its still too early to come to the conclusions that people are coming to. lets see how things are july 12th. darko is the best big man available on the market right now, and we are thin on the frontline without him...we need him for us to be competitive, seriously. pay the man otis... rashard lewis is overrated, always has been, but we have him now and he will score some points for us. not 25ppg though. so we need a secondary scorer(wishing on jj here), grant hill would have been perfect...oh well... if we can keep darko i think we will have a solid team, not eastern conf champs yet though. we will need to upgrade the point slightly for that to happen, unless jameer becomes an assist machine. but he wont, because we need a secondary scorer behind shard and jameer will try to fill those shoes instead. its just how he is...a two guard in a point guard body.
  21. he never has played pf, why would he now???

Somebody can show me the wage list of Magic

i believe he wants an expert to explain our salary cap situation to him because he thinks that we can afford darko.
  23. shard couldnt even play pf in the west. how in the hell do you think he will be able to play it in the east? we do need darko. there are no other good available big men. i hope this S&T works out with seattle.

    stephen a smith

i think he has his moments where he can be funny, but he is not very insightful as a journalist. he is very biased, and i too think he borders on racist sometimes. overall, he should just join stand up comedy instead of sports journalism because you cant take what he says seriously.
