ORL Magic vs. 76er's Official Game Thread

I noticed that no one has given Stan any credit. . .especially back to back wins.

Sources: Howard demands SVG to be fired

Much of what you mentioned in the 2nd paragraph about your conversations with Dwight is weird stuff, especially since you and Dwight had been communicating for only 3 to 4 months. . .throw in the fact that you were literally a stranger to him. This goes to show that Dwight has some issues (mentally and emotionally), which is a cause for concern. And since you mentioned LeBron, I think he has been able to weather the storm a little bit (concerning the situation he is in. . .I know that it is not over for LeBron if the Heat does not win a championship this year) Dwight, on the other hand is not as capable of handling what is eventually coming down the pike for him. I just think Dwight needs to seek some professional counseling/help. . .not from a nonprofessional person he has never met in person. . .and certainly not from a person who might be drunk during some of their conversations with Dwight. YBR, you mentioned in some previous threads that you tried to give Dwight advice on this, that, or the other. This is not a healthy situation for Dwight.

I don't get it, YBR. Why is Dwight sharing all this information with you? Of all the Magic fans out there, how is it he decided to confide in YOU? I used the word confide, and much of what Dwight has said to you should be kept confidential and should only be shared with a family member (I believe he does have a brother who he is close to) or someone else in HIS camp, but why would he discuss with you stuff that could only hurt him. It's human nature for people on the receiving end of shared info to sometimes get spoken/written words twisted. I am not a high profile figure, but I am careful about who I share certain personal information with. I mean, why would Dwight share his thoughts and intentions--mostly job related--to someone he has never met in person? or have you (met him in person)? As someone else said in another thread, doing stuff like this could become detrimental to him. I love sports and have followed various sports for a long time. But I have never seen or heard of anything like this before now. YBR. If you don't mind me asking. How long have you known Dwight, and have you met him in person.

Okay, so YBR, you're saying that you are not just a fan of Dwight, but you are also a Magic fan. Now, if Stan is indeed fired at the end of this seaspn, will we continue to see you posting in this forum (as a Magic Fan)? Let's take it a step further. If after Stan leaves and Dwight is the next to go, will we continue to see you posting in this forum even if the Magic struggles and have to go into rebuilding mode?

    It's Never Too Late

In light of everything that has happened, there are people who (in my opinion) have given up hope for the Magic even making the playoffs. But I say it's never too late. I think that the Magic is still a top 3 team in the Eastern Conference. So, if__and and a big IF__ they can pull it together to show the world that you can do anything in the face of adversity, what are some of the scenarios (involving other teams) that could happen and the Magic ends up playing in the EC finals. I'm serious about this guys. Please don't be sarcastic. I know it might not happen, but what if. . . .? Btw: We still have 11 games remaining in the regular season. *I posted the observation below in tonight's game thread. It probably shouldn't be there, so post responses here*

Last year during 2 separate interviews, I saw and heard 2 people connected to the Celtics' team say that it wasn't Doc Rivers' coaching that made the Celtics an elite team, but he (Doc) was a great MOTIVATOR. And one of the persons who said that was a Celtics player. In other words Doc did not get the credit for how well the team played defensively. Btw: Doc Rivers does an awful lot of yelling at his players. I can see all 144 veins popping out of his neck.

Breaking News :Turk Out Three Weeks With Facial Fractures

Agreed. The difference between Clark and Brandon Bass (when he was here), at least Bass could score. Clark is not playing smart basketball, he is not quick and ends up making ridiculous fouls. He cannot keep players in front of him. And while Von is quick, he plays recklessly and turns the ball over more than he should. I know, other Magic Players turn the ball over too, but Von looks like a train wreck about to happen, and sometimes it does. He is also not that great on defense.

I'm sorry, but I don't trust YBR. . .I never have. I just think that we have been used. I strongly believe that this was part of Dwight's master plan to have a 'plant' in this forum (meaning YBR). whom he used as a messenger to deliver to us his thoughts and intentions so that he could get feedback (from members of this forum). This information helped him to guage how the fans felt about him. . .ultimately allowing him to make a decision as to which direction he should go in to brling temporary calm before the storm.

No matter who replaces Stan, the cancer will still remain, and his name is Dwight. I don't like any of what Dwight has said and done. . .including at the end of the game tonight. It gave me a really bad feeling, in the pit of my stomach, as I watched him waiving his hand in the air. The NY fans were cheering the Knicks victory, and he was egging them on. So sad! *sigh*

*This is in response to the above post by Nick Anderson.* Nick, I am agreeing with you that other coaches yell. I was watching one of the Bull's games, and their coach. . .Tibido(sp). . . was pacing back and forth along the sideline, yelling at his players. I just thought to myself (wow). It was as fierce as what Stan use to do. You said the differences is these other coaches bring out the positive things. Well, lets look at the reason he has an upper hand over Stan. #1 - The Bulls have a much better bench than the Magic. #2 - The Bulls have an MVP starting point guard. #3 - The Bulls have the best record in the NBA #4 - The Bulls are a more athletic team. #5 - The Bulls' backup center situation is better than the Magic #6 - The Bulls have a couple of very good backup point guards. Lucas could be a starter on any team. Btw, Just like the Bulls, the Magic, too, were Eastern Conf. champs and went to the finals in 2008-2009 WHEN STAN WAS YELLING.

Which is laughable. I'm not laughing at you, Nick. What I'm saying is outside of Dwight. . .MAYBE Jameer - JJ - Ryan and Glen. . . the other players should be happy that they are even on an NBA roster. If it is true that Stan has lost his players, then most of them are laggers, feeding off of Dwight and "go as Dwight goes", hiding behind his coat tail. Trust me, I have seen these kind of people before. Most of them are even lucky to have a job. If I were some of the Magic players who fit in the category of "WADING IN THE WATER AND FOUND WANTING", if Stan asked me to jump. . .I would ask: "how high"? That's just me. I just don't see Ryan as one of those players that Stan has lost.

Sources: Howard demands SVG to be fired

You are spot on, barnettej. I'm not saying that SVG is the greatest coach, but he is a decent coach. I heard Stan preach defense in the huddle during a timeout. But when play resumed, none of what Stan said registered with the players. The Pistons scored immediately after play resumed. I have to give it to Glen Davis. . .he busted his butt and fought hard getting us a number of rebounds (nearly) single-handedly. It was painful watching Daniel Orton. . .it was a waste of space and we can't say that his excuse is lack of playing time. This is his second year with the Magic. Except for Glen, the rest of the team was not aggressive. I watched the Pistons where they attacked the basket time and time again with so much force, while our players were tippy-toeing around the 3 pt. line and base line. Without Dwight, this was an excellent opportunity for our players to prove that they were not one-dimensional. But did they take advantage of that? No. And it was not Stan's fault that the ball was not going into the basket. Even Redick struggled.

A perfect example of the Magic needing "better" players was last night's game WITHOUT 3 of our starters. The rest of the players should have been able to step in, and at least win that game against the Pistons. I don't want to hear about the shortened season and lack of practice time. ALL NBA teams were subjected to the same circumstances. Bring in better players, and if things don't improve with the new personnel, then I would say fire the coach. It is not the coach's fault for the lack of (fill in the word or words) in the players that he is coaching. I didn't expect us to win that game even if Dwight had played. I was surprised that, through Stan's coaching, we were able to come back and keep it close in the end.

Huh? Joseph, maybe I misunderstand your last sentence. But of course I knew that Duhon was, and always is, one of the bandits in that second unit. I was only pointing out that Goukas and Steele confirmed what most posters have been saying day in and day out.
