Lets see what else was said by Howard, "I'm really hurt about it because Keyon is not only a great person on the court, but he's an even better person off it," Howard said. "Just being around him, he's a great person. It hurts seeing that he's not going to be here, and we're not going to have that presence in the locker room. I have to step up some more (in the locker room), be more vocal and take up for his loss." -

Oh and by the way Dwight placed a call to Otis for them to keep Keyon Dooling and he is a Net so that little bit is a stretch. Although any team would listen to the input of their superstar., Marc, why dont you ask Drain-o where he got this info? The fact that he tried to influence Otis like he has many times shows his influence. -
How long before Dwight can dominate and mature in the NBA?

quote: He is starting, not backing up anyone. In addition to that international ball is a totally different animal from NBA ball. He does split time with Bosh but that has to do with the style of play in international ball. His role on the Olympic team has very little to do with what he does/will do on our team. Take a look at how Duncan faired in international play and you will see what I mean. He already has a reliable hook and spin moves so to say he is just a dunker is not accurate. Uhh, touched a sensible spot there. Some of these comemnts are based on real facts and observations by knowledgeable basketball people. In terma of th eolympics he is starting but who is getting the minutes, Bosch of Howard? Review the Australian game. -

It will be blown-up by the media because it provides some intrigue, but I don't see Coach K, or Dwight for that matter, allowing this to carry over to the real games. If Dwight is frustrated at all, then he is in a pretty prestigeous club. All the great centers that have represented the USA since 1991 have had to check their usual game at the door. The international game is guard orientated and heavy on outside shooting. When you have all-world point guards, shooting guards, and small forwards handling the ball, the flow of the offense is going to be all about transition. I will disagee with oyur non issue. This is and will be the issue with this player for time to come. Dwight is a kid that has been spoiled by the fans and press and it has gotten to his head. He is frustrated by the apparent limited role he is playing in the olympic team and ironically he is making the same mistakes Arroyo did with Sloan when he benched him for his inmature attitude. Howard literally runs the Orlando magic organization at the present moment including who comes and who goes from the team. -

So if you consider him to be a leader (which I do too) I don't see why Dwight shouldn't be able to get there. It seems dwight loses his focus on the floor time to time. Maybe he is still too young, who knows? You're right, Duncan is a nice guy too, but also always serious on the floor. I have still hope Dwight can get there, because he is still 22. But I'm not sure. I feel he has peaked to soon in his career showing what he has which is a lot rapidly. He problably will become the highest rebounding center in history and maybe in dunks but thats it. Check his role in the Olympics he is backing up people that are not true centers. He is a kid mentally and he will always will be a kid the rest of his life. -
The Official Carlos Arroyo appreciation Thread
ibonedteribell replied to jack daniel 999's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Like always we can expect from Jack a class act and the same for those that saw both sides of the issue. I know Carlos will appreciate this one. -
Since, Dooling got his thread I will try to start one for Carlos even if its risking an early closure. The reason I posted this one is because I feel disappointed by the lack of comments either for or against Arroyo's leaving by neither the organization or the players yet they did comment on how much Dooling had given the team. Is this really what happened? Didn't we agreed he had been more succesful than Jameer and Dooling in starting and winning % and he had better assit ratio than Dooling and the only reason he lost playing time was due to the supposedly best defensive role of Dooling? If so why not give him the credit he deserves for what he helped the team reach the first rounds? What's behind this public snubbing of a popular player? What will be the reaction of his fan base? Should have Otis, at least wished him the best in his future. What was going on behind the lines?

I've never been a big fan of him as a starter, but as a change of pace pg and back-up I thought he was great. My biggest complaint was we didn't need two tiny pg's. Anyways, I hope he does well in the euro league. Thanks for the memories. Yeah, especially since there weren't a whole lot of pgs out there this summer. You must realize no PG got the three year contract Carlos was looking for since the cap of most teams was limited. He had to make his schoice to sign for one year at a lower range to be able to have a chance to start or play back up or go for more money to start in a champion contender. What would you have done? -

Arroyo, who played collegiate basketball at Florida International, averaged 7.0 points, 3.3 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 433 NBA games at five different franchises. "I'm very happy we've completed this signing," Maccabi coach Effi Birenboim told the club's official Web site. "Arroyo is a player of the highest standard and has been our top priority for a while. "Luckily for me, Maccabi's management agreed to sign him despite the huge costs. This is exactly the player we need. He's a great basketball player as well as being a great leader." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=121533118268...JPArticle%2FShowFull Yes, it will be Euros and he has the player option to quit and return to tne NBA if an offer is attractive enough. Please note he will be the best payed player an done of the first offensive options on a team that was the runner up to the Euroleague tournament. I hope he getes his head together and takes advantage of this opportunity to show his potential in a strong league. -

Maybe Hedo could consider getting a good offer from the Euro league next and end up making more money over there.
