    Agreed. Actually thats exactly what I said if you read it Letsgomagic. Its not the trade that hurts you. Its Kobe potentially bolting. Plain and simp. No one can sit here and say Kobe won't so you are potentially selling the team for a two year run. Exactly what I said before

     

    No one can sit here and say that RDV wont sell the team. So why discuss anything if i cannont get into the mind of RDV??

     

    Maybe we get Kobe and then RDV moves to Las Vegas?? We've got on of the most renonwned stars in the history of NBA and then move to vegas is a brilliant plan for RDV.

     

    Any objection to change based on the fact that we cannont reads someones mind is invalid. If that was the defining core of any persons arguement then we wouldnt do anything.

     

    We cannot read VC minds so we dont trade for him maybe he'll become unhappy and want to be traded, Same thing with Lewis.

     

    We dont draft any foreign players anymore because we cannot read their minds and as Fran has proven just becasue you declare for the NBA draft does not mean you ACTUALLY want to play in the NBA. If we could read his mind we would not have drafted him.

     

    As i said before basing an objection against a proposed plan of change on the fact that "we cannot read Kobe's mind" is not based in a logical thought.

     

    Now if you say based on his previous history and past we can only assume that he is out only for himself and as such would be a major drawback in an pursuing of KOBE for this team, That would be a valid point and worthy of comparing and contrasting another viewpoint on that subject.

     

    As such, obviously before you trade for a player you find out his intentions.

    Kobe: Of course Otis i am committed to winning a championship!

    Fair enough Dontezc but he has had to be forced to try assists. He is known for his selfishness on and off the court. Someone has already pointed out that he can opt out in just two years. Want to bet Kobe doesn't bolt?

     

    So you are in essence mortgaging a bunch of young talent, Draft picks etc for a two year run? Still think its a horrible, horrible idea. It potentially is setting up the Magic to be the laughingstock of the NBA even more than the Shaq affair.

     

    I Don't remember MIAMI being the laughingstock of the NBA when they traded for shaq??

     

    If you think Kobe won't have as much of an impact on Orlando as shaq did with miami then you have way undervalued Kobe.

     

    Shaq had wade and other limited role players -

    we would have dwight kobe and other role players. I think it is an even match in impact and if shaq could take them to a championship ith wade carrying them then i think that kobe could take us to a 'ship with dwight.

    You forget the reason is that they are getting the S&T Exception for a player who WILL OPT out of his contract

    (ala Shaq) and they would get nothing if he signed with the magic outright for 13 million.

     

    However if they do a S&T they get SOMETHING back for him and a future draft choice on top of they're own and a quality 6th man and the S&T exception and Cap Space.

     

    Its a good deal all around for them get nothing or get something which would you prefer??

Or will he be remembered as a talented player who cared more for the money then the rings?

    I'm not trying to rain on our parade. I'm just wondering what message is management sending Van Gundy and us fans by not showing the same enthusiasm with Gundy and they showed with Donovan?

     

    Obviously the Donovan hiring was a popular move by the Magic, which is why it was covered by much of the media in person. Donovan is well known and was liked due to his stint at UF. It's a story that the general public was interested in.

     

    SVG is a good hire and I think he'll do well with the Magic, but he's not really well know with the general public. Why throw a big PR press conference if its not big news to the general public?

     

    Hopefully SVG wins a championship with the Magic and then has the big press conference that you're dying to see.

     

    In my opinion, after all we have been through these past few weeks, they should have had the press conference at the Amway arena. They should have had it open to all the magic fans. They should have produced a couple of hundred "Van Gundy's our Choice" T-Shirts and invited every news organization in the country. That would have definitely send the message to Van Gundy and us fans that they are confident in their decision, and originally choosing Donovan was OUR mistake, not his mistake.

     

    I like that idea!!
