  1. I know you guys are die hard Magic fans and I love the Magic too but this is the worst rebuild I have ever seen the Magic do......

I disagree...it's building from the ground up. You're not going to be able to successfully rebuild by throwing money at players (unless you can do what the Heat did) because it doesnt always work like that.

The only go to guy that the Spurs had was Timmy...after that everyone who is key (kawhi, Parker, Manu) was drafted and viewed as a role player initially. But they made it work because they put TEAM over STAR. That's how you get 5 championships in 15 years. That's how basketball should be played. That appears the way we are doing it and I love it. Get maybe one big guy with free agency but build a team not depend on a player

I believe in Henny and this plan. Lets go!

  2. Everyone calm the F down haha

This is a process and there is a plan. Yes Exum would've been good but there are other good guards on the board around 12 and you cannot deny Aaron Gordons athleticism.

Don't burn the ship just because it wasn't what we had hoped.

Lets see what happens. Think San Antonio. They have head scratcher decisions that end up with MVP players. Everything will be fine

  3. The best prospect since LeBron is a poorly coordinated 6'8" guy with a decent jumper, average handle but who can't make layups?

The NBA loves potential...this is basically all I see in his game and all I see in a lot of people's game.

I think the one and done rule is really hurting the NBA (and NCAA for that matter) because teams really need more than one season to watch a player develop.

Wiggins has been up and down, up recently but very forgettable in the beginning of the season. Plus his mentality doesn't seem right, doesn't like to get physical very much.

Parker's the most NBA ready, but what will happen when he's not clashing against someone from Wake Forrest, but the front line for the Clippers?

Embiid is just raw potential, but really needs another year or two to beef up and improve offensively. Didn't he just start playing basketball like 3 years ago?

Randle is a great rebounder and decent defender. Needs to solidify his jumper and post moves and dear lord some of the decisions he makes are just asinine.

I could keep going, but I think we're not going to see a Lebron or Garnett that are basically NBA ready immediately. Most of the high school game is watch the one star do his thing. Then coming to college, most players need that year (sometimes more) to transition to playing as a team. So Wiggins is not the next Lebron, no one will ever be the next Lebron until the one and done rule becomes two and through or three and free.

  4. I hadn't seen a list of free agents yet on any of the pages, so I thought I'd go ahead and write down the top 25 and other notable ones in my opinion (Source)

    Lebron James -- ETO

    Carmelo Anthony -- ETO

    Dwayne Wade -- ETO

    Greg Monroe -- Restricted

    Chris Bosh -- ETO

    Dirk Nowitzki -- Unrestricted

    Tim Duncan -- Player Option

    Eric Bledsoe -- Restricted

    Luol Deng -- Unrestricted

    Gordon Hayward -- Restricted

    Zach Randolph -- Player Option

    Pau Gasol -- Unrestricted

    Lance Stephenson -- Unrestricted

    Evan Turner -- Restricted

    Rudy Gay -- Player Option

    Kyle Lowry -- Unrestricted

    Avery Bradley -- Restricted

    Shawn Marion -- Unrestricted

    Paul Pierce -- Unrestricted

    Andrei Kirilenko -- Player Option

    Isaiah Thomas -- Restricted

    Spencer Hawes -- Unrestricted

    Rodney Stuckey -- Unrestricted

    Marcin Gortat -- Unrestricted

    Danny Granger -- Unrestricted

    Other Notables, in my opinion:

    Jodie Meeks

    Patrick Patterson

    Marvin Williams

    Jimmer Fredette

    Darrell Arthur

    Shannon Brown

DJ Augustin (hard to tell about him since his career until Chicago has been disappointing)

Does Henny look to add via free agency? Seems to me he's more interested in drafting and getting young players experience early. Unless there is that young talent that could be acquired fairly easily.

  5. First time I've posted in a long time...

What is the general consensus for the first pick?

For my money, even though I hate Duke with a passion...I would love to see Parker in a Magic uniform, I'm just afraid that if the Magic get the 3rd pick, he won't be there.

I think the Magic need to get a little bigger at PG and PF, seems like we have a lot of SF and some of them are playing out of position.

    7'0 -- 2 players

    6'10 -- 1 player

    6'9 -- 3 players

    6'7 -- 2 players

    6'5 -- 1 player

    6'4 -- 3 players

    6'2 -- 1 player

    6'0 -- 1 player

    Jabari Parker is 6'8

    Andrew Wiggins is 6'8

Julius Randle is 6'9 (think Zach Randolph...actually I'm pretty sure Zach Randolph just decided to go back to college)

Joel Embiid is 7'0 (but his back issues concern me and I think Vucevic is our future Center)

    Marcus Smart is 6'4

Dante Exum is 6'6 (but no one has any clue what he plays like outside of the usa vs the world game)

Looking over the mock draft board...it seems like there are a lot of SF and under...not many decent big men. Would Doug McDermott work with the Magic, with their second pick? Go back to a stretch 4?

  6. Davis did hustle, but I think it would have been hard for him to imagine himself not as a core player anymore. He would have just been a role player as the young core continues to grow. Idk who said it, but if he could have grabbed ahold of the idea that he was a role player who did the dirty work, I would have liked to see him on this team moving forward...Veteran, Championship, and from what I've heard a good teammate. You could have worse guys on your bench for sure.

  7. The Orlando Magic are in a holding pattern, mainly because everything they can do with the No. 2 pick hinges on what happens with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the No. 1 pick.

The Magic have reportedly narrowed their shopping list down to three players – Victor Oladipo, Nerlens Noel and surprisingly Cody Zeller. The Magic will likely make their decision once they are on the clock. Orlando also seems to have the framework of a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers done that would land them Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler in exchange for guard Arron Afflalo and possibly last year’s 19th pick Andrew Nicholson. There has been talk of a protected 2015 draft pick heading to L.A. as part of the deal, however it seems the Magic may be unwilling to part with draft assets unless another contract is moved off in the deal.

Sources close to the Clippers/Magic situation say that the possible deal hinges on the Clippers agreeing to the deal more so than Orlando. The Magic have also been aggressive in shopping their other options and have entertained offers on the No. 2 overall pick as well.

Do not be surprised if Orlando takes the Minnesota Timberwolves up on swapping the No. 2 for the No. 9 and the No. 26. The Wolves are said to be very high on Victor Oladipo.

I am perfectly ok with shipping Bledsoe and Butler for AA and Nicholson. I think that the upside of getting a young athletic, ready to prove he can handle a starting job, point guard with an expiring contract, PLUS getting rid of AA's contract is a really great upside to next years free agent pool. And as much as I like Noel (and believe me, this guy is legit, really tough worker, great attitude, etc), I think it would be smarter to do the trade with Minnesota for 2 draft picks, that will give the Magic a shot at 2 role players in a draft that is basically role players. I doubt there are any franchise changing players in this draft, unless there is a hidden gym that no one can see yet (Maybe Oladipo or McLemore?). I think it would be wise to keep getting role players and developing a team, a lot like the Spurs and Thunder. Then try to add a name in free agency next year.

  8. Limited shooting ability. Great defense, but honestly im just sick of Kentucky players in Orlando.

Aside from Orton, who hasn't panned out?

Liggins is legit and is turning into an awesome role player for the Thunder and I've read reports saying they are saying he's too valuable to let him walk.

Bledsoe seems to have everyone up in a frenzy.

So...that's all in the last couple of years. Noel and MKG would be fantastic adds which would make the Magic a defensive minded team, almost like the Grizzlies with a Spurs/Thunder mindset of developing a team. I'm not saying that this is going to happen obviously, I'm just saying its dumb on Charlottes side and that MKG is exactly the type of player that the magic should pursue.

Apparently Charlotte is shopping him around because they believe they can replace him with Otto Porter.

Do you think there will be any interest there? I doubt that Charlotte would trade within the division but I can personally say MKG is EXACTLY the type of player the Magic should pursue. Great defense and an amazing basketball motor. Not to mention a natural leader and great locker room guy.

    Any Thoughts?

  10. Old Poster -- New name so let me start off by saying, whats up and it's good to see the forum hasn't really changed a bit. Off-season posts going 143 pages...I like it. Doesn't mean I'm gonna read it, but I like it.

Since I didn't feel like reading all of that stuff, I am just interested to hear opinions on this.

Why is everyone interested in BenMac over Oladipo? Being in Kentucky, I unfortunately got to watch O a lot and the mans got crazy athletic potential and a really strong motor on both ends of the court from what I've seen.

Also, wanted to know what the interest is in Noel? Since the Magic already have an emerging star in Vucevic, why the interest in Noel as well? I'm a Kentucky fan, so I love the guy and could tell you a lot about him. But the injury worries me and I think it would be safer to go with a 2-3 type player. (Maybe that is the overall consensus anyway)

Excited about the future though, Magic will be the next Thunder, Grizzlies in a few short years.

  11. What's the consensus on him? He must have been good in college if he was a number 5 pick.

Was really good in college. I believe he stayed 2 years at Kansas. From what I remember, even though I haven't really seen him play in the NBA, he was mainly a power-forward who showed athletic flashes with a decent mid-range shot. I imagine he would be a 3/4 combo. He would be a great pick-up for cheap since he hasn't proven anything yet.
