I'm still under the impression that a defensive big is more important than an offensive wing but it seems like I'm alone in that thought. Since we saw the Mario highlight video posted, it's only fair to see the others as well. Winslow/Hezonja/WCS would be my order if we are going to draft a wing and WCS would jump to the front of that list if we decide to go with a defensive big.

I think it's a 4-way split between Justise Winslow, Willie Cauley-Stein, Mario Hezonja, Kristaps Porzingis. I'll be interested to see how workouts go. I think we'll be able to tell what the front office strategy might be by who we bring in to workout.

So...he went from a guy you wouldn't mind having at the right spot in the draft to a guy who is a clown? Interesting mood swings. The middle name thing is weird, but that has no effect on who this guy is as a player. If you knew that Ron Artest was going to change his name somewhere in his career to Metta World Peace, would you draft him differently? Probably not. This is a guy who officially made "Stein" apart of his last name because that is his mother's maiden name and didn't care about his middle name so he' just a 21 year old having fun. I think it's a little ridiculous to read so much into it.

Ultimately this will come down to who this teams needs. PG -- Payton/Ridnour SG -- Oladipo/Fournier/Marble SF -- Gordon/Harkless PF -- Frye/Nicholson C -- Vucevic/Dedmon So, that lineup seems like it has a nice core of talent at PG/SG/SF, but is woefully short of talent at PF. If the Magic are drafting at #5 and lets say Towns, Okafor, Mudiay, Russell are gone. Here are the next top 6 in my opinion: Justise Winslow (SG/SF) Willie Cauley-Stein ( C) Mario Hezonja (SG/SF) Kristaps Porzingis ( C) Stanley Johnson (SF) Frank Kaminsky ( C) If our lineup looks like it does, then I want to draft a big which makes our options: WCS, Porzingis, and Kaminsky. WCS is a defensive beast, Porzingis (from the few videos I've seen) looks versatile on offense, and Kaminsky is versatile on offense. I'd rather build a defensive team and develop the offense, so I would go for WCS. However, everything changes if the Magic decide that they want to run Gordon at the 4. If they do that, then Winslow and Hezonja are our guys all day. However, to me, if we try to run Gordon at the 3, and we draft a slashing 2/3 guard, then we are going to have a clog at guard.

I think that's my point. The platooning and swapping 5 for 5 every 5 minutes, hurt any available stats. He is never going to be a Dirk or Tim Duncan... however to Soul Bro's point... ...I do think he could be another version of Tyson Chandler or DeAndre Jordan but with better overall defense. DeAndre Jordan played one year in college and averaged 8 pts, 12 rbs and 2 blks per game. I think WCS needs to improve on areas that are easy to fix (shot mechanics, defensive rebounding positioning, low post moves) but the areas you're drafting him for are things that are rarer to see (defensive agility, running the floor, quick first step) for a guy his size. Again with the quoting stats without considering the style of play the team used. Can't do that, plus like I said, he wouldn't need to put up points. I think the only concern with WCS is his desire. I don't think he'd be the next Larry Sanders, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. He's a unique guy with passions outside of basketball and NBA gms don't like that all the time.

I don't get why you think WCS is a horrible pick at 5? He fills a need on defense and we have other offensive options, so he wouldn't have the pressure of needing to put up points each night. WCS > Turner x 1000000 I know you're all aboard the slashing SG/SF train, but we also need a defensive big man and WCS is arguably the best on the board.

There is a difference between character issues and passionate play with occasional immature decisions. I believe Cousins is the latter. Either way, I don't think the Magic go for him until they know their spot in the draft
