Which UFA should we target with MLE?

Okay, why wouldn't we want Turiaf? He is a defensive, rebounding banger who can hit the fifteen footer.

How Howard can improve his freethrows

The answer is simple. Hire Bo Outlaw to fix his hitch.
  3. Thank the Lawd that Otis sees our biggest need is a back-up PG. Whew, I was beginning to worry he couldn't prioritize.
  4. Great job, Fendi. Thank you. Where do you think Dorsey is worth drafting?

    J.A. Adande Chat 1PM

CDR had one of the ugliest yet nastiest games in college ball last season. Watching him, my face went from disgust to amazement in seconds. Bottom line, he can create his own shots and the ball goes in at an incredible clip.

    Nemesis Suitor?

Do you guys think Joe D. will go over after Billy D.? (long wink and head nod).
  7. Can anyone find solid evidence that size does or doesn't matter in the NBA for success of PFs? This might seem like a far-fetched question, but ESPN did an article regarding the NFL about a month ago proving that speed does matter for the success of RBs. If I were Otis, I'd tell Dwight to get his butt to the gym to face off against some of these prospects.
  8. I still am in shock. Yes, Maxiell is short ... shorter actually. Yet Maxiell has an explosive offensive game to go along with a feisty defensive game. Dorsey virtually has no offensive game and has a questionable motor. Now he has one other huge knock against him ... he's a real shorty compared to the superior bigs of the league. Plus, keep in mind, that Maxiell and Milsap have been ineffective against the KGs and Duncans of the league. Yes, they are good but not good enough. Wow. Look, I'm gonna have to chew on this one a while. No way we touch him in the first ... anywhere. Second? I still don't know. What does this mean? You guys tell me.
  9. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is in BIG TROUBLE. Wow, wow, wow. Hear me now, I don't want him. He can't shoot ... at all. So we would draft him for his ability to defend bigs and rebound. At 6'7'' with shoes, there is no way he can defend KG, Sheed, Amare, Duncan, etc. I feel for the kid but this is an atomic bomb for his draft stock.

    Smack, that is pretty funny

I believe we could get a proven SG at 22 (CDR or Rush) instead of taking a chance with a questionable big. I am actually floored how much potential trumps proven ability in the draft. Here Rush tore up the Big 12 tournament and NCAA tournament, is a 6'7'' two-way player, yet is not a lotto pick. Meanwhile CDR was a first team All-American who absolutely dominated the NCAA tournament both ways but isn't a top 20 pick as a 6'7'' SG? What a joke. Give me one of those guys at 22 and a big at a later obtained pick. I hear what you are saying Soul Bro... but if potential wasn't taken into account, would we have taken Dwight with the first pick? I guess it's a matter of how much potential vs. how much proven talent? Or maybe the ceiling on the proven guys vs projected ceiling on the potential guys? You have to have some balance and some sort of weight to compare and make that choice. Which is more difficult, to pass on a proven talent that can produce right away but may never bring significantly more to the table, or to pass on a guy that needs a couple years to develop, but has the potential to be an all-star? Good post. Three thoughts. First, Speights already is struggling with weight issues. Why should we believe he will be better in a much more demanding game and season in the pros? I don't buy it. Second, unfortunately this organization can't afford to miss in this draft. We must get someone who can contribute. And third, "potential" in the 20s is a heck of a lot different than "potential" in the top 5. If someone is caring that "potential" label that low there is usually a pretty significant red flag.

    Nemesis Suitor?

WOW!!!!! This story is all over the web. Here's an easy one: McDyess for JJ and Cook. I'd rather have Sheed but his contract is too large for us. I believe this trade would help both teams. It would give them a young prospect and give us a solid banger.
  15. Positives: Tough, physical forward who knows how to score, both inside and out. Good rebounder. Can be a physical defender. Negatives: He's a tweener. Still finding his range on his jump shot. Poor shot selection at times. Can over-dominate the ball. Lacks great quickness. Summary: Forbes could be an interesting prospect if he can prove to scouts that he can be a swingman in the pros. So far, he's a work in progress. He'll need an excellent camp in Orlando to prove he has what it takes to play on the wing in the NBA. http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/tracker/playe...19258&draftyear=2008
  16. Jareth, it is interesting you bring up Josh Howard. I see CDR as a player a lot like him.
  17. I didn't see a lot of Dorsey, perhaps 5-6 games this year. However, what I did see either in the championship game or final four game was nothing short of defensive domination by Dorsey. To say that he owned the paint in the first half of one of those games would be an understatement. Block after block, rebound after rebound, he was an enforcer, ala Dwight. I'm not sure he could start next to Dwight, but he could bring some, "Get that junk out of my house," attitude.
  18. I think Rush and CDR are better prospects than Dorsey. Both were go-to guys on championship caliber teams. Both are solid two-way players that would contribute right away, perhaps even start at SG for us. That being said, I like Dorsey and think he is one of the best one-way players in the draft. His rebounding, shot-blocking, defense, and toughness are worth a late first. I am hoping that we can get both a starting caliber SG and Dorsey in the draft. P.S.--A guy I really have my eye on is Budinger. For much of this year and last year he was considered a top 10 pick. Why the drop? Pundits say it is b/c he lacks aggressiveness. IMO, you can't overlook the fact that Olson, his coach, left the team for much of the year due to personal problems. Imagine if SVG had left our team early in the year ... how would that have effected Hedo, Dwight, etc.?
  19. Just sent to Otis: Otis, Are you still confident Jameer is the PG of the future for the Magic? Go Magic! Soul Bro. P.S.--Seeing that Philly needs shooting, I personally think a trade of Jameer and JJ for Andre Miller and their 16th pick would add balance and depth to both teams (wink).
  20. Time for me to e-mail Otis. This one deserves direct mention to the big fella.
  21. "[Miller's] strength and finishing skills make him a tough cover, while he burns defenders who rotate too early with deft passes. Though he's not in great shape Miller is outstanding in transition, as he's the best alley-oop passer in the league and a good finisher in his own right. He also mauls smaller guards on post-ups, as he has a wide variety of moves on the block -- with an up-and-under series from the left block being particularly effective." http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/players/hollinger?playerId=557

I'm curious which regular is posing as Westside. No way this guy is real. No way.
  23. A trade of Jameer and JJ for Miller and their 1st I believe would work. Wow. The thought gives me chills. We would get a taller, veteran PG AND would have two 1sts. Plus, we would get cap flexibility down the road. Given that Philly needs shooting AND Meer is a hometown hero, I think they would like the trade, too. Shiver me timbers. Then we could possibly draft Arthur AND CDR/Rush and still sign Childress or Pietrus in FA. PG: Miller, Dooling SG: Childress/Pietrus, CDR, Bogans SF: Lewis, Hedo PF: Arthur, Battie C: Howard, Gortat That is a good, balanced team in terms of youth/vets and positions.

Watch the language on the board and pick up a dictionary and don't crack on people from other countries when you can barely speak English. Other than that, this post was great. a story from Turkey. Woman tells her husband a story. She says "prophet Moses was going to sacrifice his son for god, then god sent archangel Michael to prevent this. Michael brought a goat to be sacrificed instead of moses's son.". Husband says, "well, It is not Moses but Abraham, not Michael but Gabriel, and not a goat but a sheep." your post reminded me of this. Nabeca, this so random but so funny at the same time. Good work.
