It would save us contract money, would put a player on our bench much more capable of contributing, and would once and for all get rid of our 2006 draft blunder. Best post of the thread...all three points are facts...not opinion's...well, maybe 2 out of 3 ain't bad, ha-ha...anyway, agree Smack. And for those of that think this is a BS article created by Brian Schmitz you could very well be right...but,...have you looked at the front of the Sentinel online sports page? Schmitz may be jerkin us around but he certainly isn't acting like it...Brian has a huge picture of Grant Hill on the front page complete with headlines, "Is It Possible"? "Grant Hill May Come Back to the Magic". He also has a poll listed at the bottome of the caption of the picture. Sure seems as if he is confident that he knows something that all of us don't... http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/ Yet you don't respond to my two valid points. As you always say ... interesting (lol). And didn't Jerry Reynolds tell you that Grant's ankles look like oatmeal and that he was washed up? Look if you want to get rid of JJ for cap room and to move on, I won't argue with you. But to bring back Quaker Oats and assume it will be better this time around seems like wishful thinking to me.

Believe it or not, I think Hill presents a leadership problem for our team. When he was here, our team didn't develop and Hill thought he had to be the leader. Moreover, the way he played the game seemed to suck the life out of the rest of the team. Second, I don't think his game fits SVG ball. His game is all about driving, whereas SVG likes his wing men to be shooters first and foremost. Yes, it would save us $ next year, but I'd rather trade Redick for a different expiring if that's the case. And for the here and now, believe it or not, I'd rather have Redick and wait for his shot to come around. Edit: I just went back and read the whole thread. Good stuff. This is one of the better threads we've had on here in a long time.

    Need for Sheed

Do you think Rashard can do the same things Rasheed can do...? If so, why do we need him...? Nastier, better rebounder, almost as good an outside shooter, would not allow opponents to mess with Dwight, and last but not least, a great man-to-man defender. Flat out emotional, another thing this team desperately needs. Plus, I would love to yell "SHEEEED" just before he releases a three-pointer. You wrote my answer

    Need for Sheed

quote: Originally posted by ball junkie:Question Soul, do you think this team can win a championship as currently constructed? No. I still don't think starting two SFs = championship. When MP comes back, I think we should try bringing Turk off the bench and starting TB. Moreover, I think we should see what Turk could net us on the trade market.

    Need for Sheed

Rasheed Wallace will be a FA this summer. I think he is exactly the the type of nasty PF this team needs. Yes, he's old. Yes, he's crazy. But do you think Otis should offer him a 2-3 year deal? He would put this team over the top.

    Remaining trades:

Can David Lee be signed to a long-term contract mid-season? Does he play defense? The reason I ask is that his numbers and rebounding look like those of a younger Haslem. What about a Turk for J. James and Lee trade?

    Augie Went To Spainish League

The jersey looks like a cereal box. At least he's not sporting his miny 'fro.

I still don't understand your confidence in Redick and Lee. By league standards, Redick has played well below average with a PER of 5.8. Lee is a rookie and has shown glimpses but is still green. What gives? Overall, our guards have played pretty well this season. I don't think that's a weakness for us any more. To me, our biggest problem is still interior toughness outside of Dwight. We need more big bodies that can bang in the paint and get rebounds. I still think trading Hedo is the smartest move we could make, but it doesn't seem like Otis has any interest in that idea. Agree, Kberto. In agreement with Acres, I see our biggest need being a tough big. I'm hoping for Turiaf in a minor deal.

  13. Interesting, Junkie. Didn't Denton mention Marbury and Tinsley this past summer to you?
  14. PEC, I understand that neither Bogans nor JJ can be traded for Atkins straight up. I also agree that having a third pg is a need. However, you obviously value Atkins = Bogans, which I do not. You also obviously value Redick & Lee over Bogans & Lee, which I (and it appears the majority of posters on this thread) do not.
  15. quote: Originally posted by PEC: quote: Originally posted by Soul Bro: quote: Originally posted by PEC:Bogans is just another expiring contract that should be used unlike the expiring contracts from last season. Come on, PEC. Bogans deserves much more credit than that. He was our 5th/6th man on a 50+ win team. He still is the SG SVG wants playing in the 4th b/c of his defense and toughness. Should we trade him? IMHO, only if we get a player who will play in our 8 man rotation, for a pick, or for a young developmental prospect. That was last year and this is this year and Bogans has an expiring contract that can help the Magic now. The Magic are also a business and this would be a good business deal for the Magic instead of getting nothing after his contract expires. No actually I am talking this year in my post, too. And I don't disagree that we might consider trading him but believe we should only do it if the deal nets us good value. For the record, I also wouldn't trade Redick for Atkins.
  16. Kberto, exactly. I am thinking take Cook or take the TE and give a first or beat it. BTW, I am with you re:Turk.
  17. TT, welcome aboard. DOM, that is what I'm thinking. Guys, forget Lee and Redick for a minute and simply think value. Why would the Magic trade their 6th man (Bogans) to a worse team for their 12th man (Atkins)???
  18. The ONLY reason Redick has been playing a lot is b/c of injuries, not b/c of his great play.

  20. If we trade Bogans for Atkins we are morons. Bogans is way more valuable to our team than what Atkins would bring.
  21. If Otis can squeeze a first out of the TE and get Chucky, he's got to do it. If it is simply Chucky for the TE, "not so much."

  23. quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy: quote: Originally posted by Big EB:they brought up a good point about playing battie more with howard We played our best ball last night with Battie and Dwight both in the frontcourt. Frankly, I waqs surprised that SVG didn't go back to this lineup much earlier in the second half, especially considering our early 3rd quarter struggles. IMO this just reinforces how much better our team could be with a conventional lineup rather than the small ball lineup. I know it's hard to argue with our W-L results, but IMO we will continue to struggle with determined, physical teams that can muscle us around. There will be those occassions when our shooters are dead on from outside, but that is still a lower percentage shot. I'd rather see guys getting shots closer to the basket, and I 'd much rather see a guy that help Dwight clean the boards the way Battie has been. Totally agree. What do you propose? I'd like to pick up Turiaf in some swap. I think he could be a Haslem clone and be had for cheap.
