    The "OFFICIAL" Offseason Thread

Not sure if they would have interest in Jameer now, but I was told (second hand) from a great source the two parties were talking in the fall of '09.

    The "OFFICIAL" Offseason Thread

Kberto, I'll play along. Here's my thinking: 1. Trade Tat for a nice 1st. Then trade that 1st, Jameer, and filler for Chris Paul and whatever else they require (taking back Posey?). If they require another first, I'd still do it. Probability ... very low. 2. If option one doesn't work, try to sign and trade for another star, like Wade, Bosh, etc. As much as I don't want Turk back, I think we could land Bosh if we took Turk. And for the record, I'm not a Boozer fan. Not a GA fan, either, unless he's bought out. Probability ... low to moderate. 3. If options one and two don't work, trade Tat or Bass for a decent pick and draft a nice, young pg. Or trade one of them for a decent young player. Probability ... moderate to high. 4. If options one, two or three don't work, sign CJ Watson or Duhon. Probability ... moderate to high. 5. Fill out roster. Hopefully, re-sign JJ and MB. They are great players for this team. Add Haslem if possible. Probability ... high.

    Wade to Orlando is possible.

I'm guessing Wade recruits Amare to Miami and James and Bosh end up in NY. My "guesses" are certain to keep changing with new info.
  4. I am curious what you guys think is the big hurdle with the Magic. Is it an issue of having the wrong system with the stretch power forward in Lewis? Or is it an issue of having the wrong players, like Nelson, Lewis, or someone else? My answer is, "yes," but if I had to lean one way it would be the system. I want the Magic to play a traditional line-up precisely for the playoffs against Celtics and the Lakers. I am curious what the rest of you think.
  5. I blame the Tobacco Free Campaign. Those commercials were the start to our collapse.
  6. Unless you can land Paul, you keep Nelson. With that said, the four players that should stay are Nelson, JJ, Barnes and Dwight. Obviously, two are free agents. All four know their roles and play hard, smart ball. As for the others ... JW - Washing up and old AJ - A relic with mad hops VC - Washing up and only flashes MP - Inconsistent and questionable bb-iq RL - Inconsistent, nonaggressive playmaker who is a bit of a tweener BB - Lots of energy and muscle. Can he play team ball? RA - Value but still a stretch four MG - Value but still a back-up on the Magic AF - A relic with a mad smile
  7. I want OJ (over Gay). Can that possibly happen? KITNO?

    HEDO wants out of TORONTO

Yup. As I said in the other thread, a Turk and Bosh swap for Lewis, MP and Bass or Tat would work.

Root Problem ... System or Players?

The Magic are going to look into a sign and trade for Amare. There are rumblings that the organization is unhappy with the necessity to run the stretch 4 lineup (run it sometimes, but not all the time) and that is why Bass was brought in. However, Brandon never fully grasped Stan's system, and there are 2 things Stan demands of his players - effort of defense and smart play. So, there is a sentiment that Phoenix would be a good trading partner because they have an aging Nash and thus won't be looking to completely rebuild, so guys like Gortat and Bass, who are near their prime, would be appealing to them. Also, the only way Stan gets fired is if there is a decision to go with a traditional lineup and Stan stubbornly won't do it and demands to run the stretch lineup. Amare would love to be near home. This makes sense to me.

Root Problem ... System or Players?

Marc, please I-slap me if this sounds nuts. Given the Lakers' length, it seems to me we not only need a go-to guy but a tough, tall, tradional line-up. Could Howard and Tat play together for long periods? From what I just saw, not really. Bass and Howard? Who knows? Consequently, would we ever consider a trade with Toronto for Bosh? Would they take back Lewis if they could also dump Turk? Probably not, given they have a Euro Lewis in AB. But a Lewis, MP, and Bass or Tat for Turk and Bosh would appear to work. We'd get stuck with Turk but have a nasty core of Nelson, Bosh and Howard. Man, I'm sounding deperate. Forgive me.

Root Problem ... System or Players?

Rashard is the one that bug's me the most, he just looks scared to put the ball on the floor. The sad thing is when he does it he is a much better piece for us. I really hope Bass learns to play team ball (offense and defense) so we can try a tradional line-up next year. Bass has the range, energy and toughness, he just seems to lack the bb iq.

Root Problem ... System or Players?

Bottom line: 1. Paul Pierce > Vince Carter Carter shot 36% from the field and 21% from three against Boston. Pierce shot 51% from the field and 44% from three. Who is the better wing and go-to guy? 2. Lewis primaraily was a no-show vs Boston on the offensive end. Lewis shot 33% from the field and 17% from three. Conclusion: both of our star wings were manhandled and shut down by Boston. At times, each flashed but overall they were unreliable. At the very least, I think Vince needs to be moved (if possible). Hopefully, we play Lewis a lot more at SF next year.
  13. I can't believe you finally snapped Junkie
  14. Well done, sir. Great story. Well done, Magic organization. Your classiness is in a league of its own.
