  1. I've been calling for OJ for a long time now. I really think he could flourish here. Only problem is that Memphis would probably want Redick. What a pity they wouldn't take Duhon.
  2. I find it very hard to believe that the Magic won't trade him if they think he is leaving, which by every indication so far, he is.
  3. Another great article from Ken Berger with excellent insight into the Dwight situation: How will the Howard saga end?
  4. With Ryan and Hedo both playing well to start the season, now could be the time to cash them in for the much coveted wing scorer. With that said, who says no? Link
  5. Marc Stein says the Magic will not look to rebuild if/when they trade Dwight. Link I can understand why the Magic would do this but it's a fast track to mediocrity.
  6. John Hollinger mentioned yesterday that the Grizz were very close to acquiring a big. Maybe we're shipping out Anderson and Duhon for Mayo? They need a backup point after trading Vasquez.
  7. I read that the Grizz are keen on Speights from Philly, so I thought the Magic could get involved and came up with this trade: ORL/MEM/PHI 3-Way Philly should get a 1st rounder too, just not a 2012 one.
  8. I was thinking about this the other night and this is what I would do if I was Otis: 1. Trade Dwight ASAP. I give a mandate to any team interested that I want at least 2 top 20 picks in the 2012 draft. I don't care if players come back but if they do, they must be expiring and whoever gets Dwight must take Hedo and preferably Duhon (but he's not a deal breaker). With Dwight gone, we're obviously a lottery team so with the additional picks as well as ours, my goal is to enter the 2012 draft with pick in the top 5, a pick in the 6-10 range and a pick in the 11-20 range. 2. I'm assuming the Magic won't end up with the first pick, so with my top 2-5 pick I'm looking at Andre Drummond or Perry Jones. With my pick in the 6-10 range, I hope that Harrison Barnes slides otherwise I'm picking between Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Terrence Jones. With the pick in the 11-20 range, Kendall Marshall is the guy I want running my new young team of thoroughbreds. 3. Heading into free agency, I have a bit of coin due to the offloading of Turk and hopefully Duhon. I offer OJ Mayo 4 years/$40 million, which should be enough to deter the Grizz from matching due to their commitments to Gasol, Gay, Randolph and Conley. Going into the 2012/13 season, assuming all puzzle pieces fell into place, my starting line-up is as follows: C: Drummond PF: Big Baby SF: Barnes SG: Mayo PG: Marshall 4. While promising, I'm not expecting this team to be overly competitive, leaving us in the lottery once more. With a high pick in the 2013 draft, I'm aiming for James McAdoo to fill the hole at PF. 5. By the 2013/14 season, I've replaced my Hall of Fame centre with a well-balanced, young team full of potential that will run most teams off the floor: C: Drummond PF: McAdoo SF: Barnes SG: Mayo PG: Marshall I know this whole plan is light on details but I think you guys will get the gist of what path I would like this team to go down if/when we trade Dwight.
  9. Woj is reporting that the Nets/Blazers deal had Lopez, Wallace, Farmar and a 1st coming the Magic's way. Not only that, he says it got to ownership level for approval, which means Otis liked it! WTF?! Woj Article
  10. You're not wrong! He is killing it! But where did he come from? I had never heard of him until about a week ago.
  11. I think you'll actually find that it is for the life of the contract, eg. Arenas had two years left so we can't sign him for two years.
  12. With the new 150% trade rules, the Magic could actually trade for Paul and Okafor and only send out Nelson, Redick, Anderson, Orton and cash. We could even take on Jack for the Gortat TPE and that would save them $16 million dollars just in those two deals. How could Stern not approve that?
  13. This is exactly what they should do. The 2012 draft is loaded and the Magic need to capitalise on it. Barring a trade for LeBron, we're not going to be a top 4 team in the East so get it over with now and focus on the future.
  14. I just hope that when Otis trades Dwight that he doesn't go for stop gaps. I know he will though, as evidenced by re-signing J-Rich. He should be blowing this team up and getting as many 2012 picks as he can get. Build an OKC East.
  15. Maybe Turk is being amnestied and Otis is still hoping that Arenas opts out?
  16. Danny sure is trying hard! I dare say he will get him too. With LAC and the Warriors seeming to cool on the idea, Boston are pushing the hardest.
  17. Absolutely... In fact, that would be great! :D
  18. EDIT: Shock Phantom beat me to it... Say goodbye to any chance of getting CP3 guys :(
  19. That's another big reason why Chris Paul would be so great for this team. Hopefully Otis can get it done!
  20. Is it just me or does this new CP3 trade talk seem like a carbon copy of last year. 1. Sources say his agent has asked for a trade to the Knicks. 2. Chris continues to play coy about it all. 3. Chris realises that Knicks have nothing to offer and changes his top choice to Orlando. 4. Dell Demps won't do anything until he talks to Chris personally. 5. Chris meets with Dell and backs off trade request. Only difference this year is that Chris has some leverage now so 5 may not happen.
  21. Found this transcript of Marc Stein talking about the Nets offer on the radio today: Link I don't see how he can think the Nets offer is better than the Clippers if Dwight is happy to go to either destination.
  22. So what can we get for Dwight? :P

Offseason Thread part VI: Return of the Lockout

Stay strapped in fellas... There is still hope! This could be like a second trade deadline!
  24. If/when we have a new season, I honestly believe Liggins will get more minutes than Harper. I've never seen a GM or coach gush so much about a late second round pick, they really love the guy!
