  1. One of those three will eventually have to come off the bench, I believe. There is no way that this is the answer after SVG and Dwight both went public about the lack of perimeter D being the problem with our team. I like the concept of having a dynamic bulk shooter off the bench, Arenas or Richardson will fit the bill nicely. Unfortunately our only other guard is Redick so we are sporting a very small backcourt unless we keep Jrich at the 2 and have turk at the 3.

On a separate note I like the way our team plays with Redick in the game, but no way he gets in when our other back court options are nelson, arenas, and Rich.

Arenas will start, there is know way we traded Lewis away for a bench player. BUT I totally agree with our perimeter defense. J Rich's lateral quickness will not get it done with Nelson and Arenas supporting him in the backcourt.

  2. I agree. Doesn't change the fact that he's at his best attacking the defense or setting up for catch and shoot threes. We don't need a "PG" to be successful. We just need guys that are able to dribble up the court. That's why the team was successful playing Lee at PG for stretches after Jameer went down.

Yeah, I wonder if Hedo will ever assume the Point Forward role again. Maybe for select plays, I don't think we necessarily need that at this point though.

  3. We dont play any point guards. Nelson is a short SG. It doesn't matter what you call them, in our offense they'll be shooting threes in a Nelson-Arenas-Richardson lineup

Nelson's been distributing well lately. His vision throughout the years has been criticized by myself and many others, but he's shown up this season.

EDIT: I do agree that we're going to be launching them all day though. I don't mind that at all.

  4. It was dumb to trade for Arenas and thats it. This is a desperation move because we can't be patient and potentially lose dwight.

Yeah, but why be impatient and get a guy that could set your team back? That is, if you want to show Dwight that we want to win, and win now, why not explore and search for more beneficial deals? Was Arenas the only guy on the table that we could get? The Best possible player? I don't know, but I think we could have waited and gotten better talent because of that.

  5. I'm sure Otis wants Melo too. But getting Melo isn't easy, a lot of teams want him and could offer more than the Magic. Denver doesn't want VC's expiring, because if they want to save money there they could just let Melo expire himself. I'm not huge on the idea, but if Otis thinks Arenas is his best option and wants to do it, I'll give it a shot. No point in getting worked up over it.

I know, but VC and Rashard are both better suited for this team than Arenas IMO. Why would I ever want to roll the dice on Arenas? Just to see if we can do better with him than Rashard or Vince, even though we wouldn't when looking at his numbers. A trade for the sake of a trade is just not the way to go. Go out, convince someone like Melo and his team to negotiate or set up a trade that you know will benefit this team. We want a ring right?

  6. What the funny part is...about me freaking out...is that if Arenas actually does come here to ball, I'll probably be extremely angry. We would have to give up VC or Rashard to get the dude, and he hasn't proven to me that he can produce better than what either VC or Rashard can. His salary is ridiculous, but hey, the guy is agent 0...as in the 0's in his 111 million dollar contract. But the funny part is that I'll eventually root for him. He's on my team. If he's here to stay, my thoughts aren't going to do sh** about it...but if he produces, i'll respect the guy. I hope he kills it for this team if we get him.

    I want Melo though.

  7. I was still impressed with him "THAT NIGHT"......we had "NO ONE" on our roster that came close to containing him....as you've pointed out, he got to the FT line.

Something no one on our team does well....unless you count Dwight, ha-ha...

Iguodala would have put him in his place. But seriously, in every game we play guards go to the line at will when Dwight isn't checked in.

    batcave :creaturedance:

Holy s**t, I thought Tony was in Philly

  8. The rumor that will never die has regained new life, as Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Wizards are engaged in serious discussions with the Orlando Magic to acquire Gilbert Arenas. According to the report, discussions have intensified in recent days, but the parameters of the deal are unclear. But a league source said late Friday night, "It's very close. A really strong possibility."

Arenas has long been rumored to be headed to Orlando, where he would be reunited with friend and mentor Otis Smith. The Wizards spoke with the Magic last summer about making a deal for Vince Carter but those conversations stalled, but they never ended. After the Wizards lost to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, Arenas privately told people that a deal could possibly be in the works with either Orlando or Charlotte. Word started to spread throughout Verizon Center that evening.

If it was private how the hell did it reach outside the arena. We don't need this, we really don't. I'm officially panicking.

  9. Assuming it's a straight up Carter/Arenas trade with no other pieces involved, I think everything I didn't want to happen would happen, which would be to get a bad player on an awful contract before seeing if the team was as bad as it looked and not waiting til the deadline.

Really hoping that either this isn't true, there are better players coming, or that Arenas proves everyone wrong

Carter for Arenas would be the death of me

  10. **HYPOTHETICAL TRADE**

This is starting to look like paradise compared to the Arenas Trade:

As much as I love Bass and Gortat, I'd let them go for this. Hawes has been beastin lately.

    Nelson/J Will/Duhon

    Iguodala/Redick/Q

    Lewis/MP/Q/Kapono

    Hawes/RA/Allen

    Howard/Speights

    or

    Nelson/J Will/Duhon

    Redick/MP/Q/Kapono

    Iguodala/Q/MP/Kapono

    Lewis/Speights/Hawes/RA/Allen

    Howard/Hawes/Speights

  11. I had Arenas stats on my computer screen and my bro looked at it and laughed. He asked me why the hell I was looking at Gilbert Arenas and I told him about the aforementioned deal that might happen. He laughed and said he's a cancer to the team...I kind of agree, oh man -_- .

I can see him chuckin up shots all day -- he averages 15 per game, more than any member in our starting lineup. This, combined with his horrid FG% and his questionable 3-point shot (31%) this season scares me. He averages 5.6 assists per game with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio which is statistically worse than Nelson (7.1 APG, 2.7 A/T ratio) and VC (2.9 APG, 1.78 A/T ratio).

This might be a ridiculous statement, but I'd rather have Nick Young. Athletic and a sniper from the outside. This kid has impressive hops and is about as successful defensively as Arenas. I wouldn't trade VC for Young, but you get the point, right?

PLEASE, I know Otis was Arenas' mentor, but omg, Melo, Iguodala, anyone really, looks like a savior to me compared to Arenas.
