  1. Both the Magic and Billy D can be blamed. But more so the Magic. Why? They should've canned Hill the day after they got eliminated. How it takes 3 weeks to figure out that an idiot coach won't change is beyond me. Players didn't like his style. Him and Otis clashed many of times and that was well known well before the playoffs started. What do they do? BVW goes on vacation for 3 weeks. What an ***.

Billy D is to blame as well but again, Adelman and Iavaroni were better fits IMO then Donovan. Donovan was a PR move.

Its time that we all stand up and say "TAKE A HIKE" to the organization. They should've let Otis call the shots on this one (that what a GM does). They are making bad decisions and it has costed us 2 best fits in Adelman and Iavaroni. We can't even get an 2nd tier coach now. We'll be looking for a new coach AGAIN in another 2-3 years.

I want new management. Otis can stay. Everyone else can go. No more hiring "within". Forget the Devos family. Time to get some basketball minds in there. BVW doesn't know basketball. Devos doesn't either. Even Dave Twardzick can take a hike.

I'm sick of them making dumb PR decisions that always backfire. I'm sick of them hesitating to make a smart basketball decision.

Otis wants to win a championship, so he's gonna get his old coach back, where he went an impressive 46-113! Good idea Otis, hope you enjoy flipping hamburgers because thats where you will be if you make this hire.

Yup and he can take Dave ReTward and BJ with him. Isn't that something. From Golden State, to Orlando Magic, to the Golden Arches.

  4. Yall should really research Iavaroni a little more. Hes the "defensive coach" for the suns but helps D'Antoni with gameplans because he has an high IQ on x's and o's. The reason why hes an interesting candidate is because 1. He has experience as an player. 2. Hes a big man's coach. He has many years of experience working with Pete Newell who runs the big mans camp during the off season. He is responsible for helping Amare becoming a more complete offensive player. Remember, Amare was just a dunk maching when he was drafted. Hes now scoring at a high clip and really has more versatility to his game thanks to his hard work and to Iavaroni.

The thing about this run and gun is we're not trying to duplicate the suns. We're just not trying duplicate the Magic of 95. Dwight should not be playing like Shaq did. Hes more versatile then that and has nice form on his stroke. BHill rather him be the next Shaq. I guess to relive something that was the only positive in his career coaching career. To have Dwight to play like that, would be career suicide. This team needs a coach who can utilize his players strengths. BHill doesn't do that. He forces them to play HIS style. Jameer is not a walk the ball up player. This team is to young to walk the ball up the court every possession. BHill doesn't get that. He wants Shaq Deuce every time.

Iavaroni is a great candidate and since we have missed out on Adelman (the perfect candidate) if we miss out on him after this whole fiasco, then the next thing we should be talking about is getting new ownership.

This is some info on him. You can find more if you google him.

People here think coaching will solve all the problems. I'm a firm believer that we need both. Better talent and coaching.

    It's 50-50.

I agree. Thats why we need to take care of this coaching thing right freaking now. Coaches imput to their GM's which player is "talented" for their style.

BHill: Great job Grant. We played a great game.

Grant: Pssst. Aye Carlos. This mothaf*** really thinks he can coach. He really thinks he did something. What do you think Los? hahahah

Carlos: He better not say **** to me.

It makes common sense that Brian Hill already knows what he will be doing when the new coach announcement is made.

I predicted earlier that the new coach would be coach K. For the new coach to create a "BUZZ" and the announcement to be a "BOMB" and be beneficial for a new arena vote, it would need to be coach K or Donovan.

Donovan and coach K would have agents so don't put any stock in the coaches saying they havn't heard anything.

Only if its a basketball decision thats good for the team. Coach K comes here and struggles with the NBA you can have 5 arenas, no one shows up and it'll be pointless.

I do doubt that Coach K will struggle but we all know the track record for college coaches so personally, I'm a little weary about it.

  8. I know I'm gonna get backlash for this but honestly, why do yall care about public relations? Look, this team has made moves that the public wants for a long time and it has gotten them NO WHERE. From the famous Shaq poll, to personnel decisions and I can go on. Its about time Orlando stands up and make a basketball decision from the basketball minds not from fans or the public or the media minds.

Right now Otis is saying "Darko needs a bigger, versatile, role. Dwight needs to work on his game. Jameer needs a different role or do we go with another player? Clearly he struggled in BHill's system. We played incredibly slow for an athletic team. JJ who was drafted to be a immediate impact had NO PT and wasn't used properly most of the time...Things can't be the same next year. What your gameplan BHill?" and I think thats an very good idea.

Otis was a player. He knows the game and he knows the game that we played was decent but with a lot of question marks to BHill's way of coaching. I mean if your a GM and you have to question your team's character laughing during a blowout at home during a crucial playoff run and your coach says nothing at all, you have to reevaluate. I'm sure hes listening to other coaches imput and rightfully so. If another coach has the right format for success, we'd be fools to stick with BHill for another season or 2.

I agree with Emory I think they are trying to find a way to keep BHill on in some sort of aspect rather if its an assistant (doubt it) or something but sometimes, you have to not worry about public relations and just worry about the product on the floor. You can't make everyone happy so make the fans who want to win, and the team happy.

  9. 2-3 weeks goes by quick. This is the first year in a long time where you got a variety of different coaching candidates. You got coach K and Billy D who are cream the of the crop in college, who might have the NBA itch. You got experience in Silas, Adelman, PJ, Terry Porter even Larry Brown (not a candidate for us I'm sure). You got some with little experience but some success in Stan Van Gundy and Rick Carlisle. You got young blood with hype in Marc Iavaroni, Mario Elie and Sam Vincent. Even Marc Jackson is thinking about coaching.

Thats a lot to sort through. I want management to take their time to make the smart decision. A coach is primary for a successful team and I'm tired of the quick, PR related decisions. I want a sound, solid, educated decision and taking a few weeks to educate themselves is what it takes, so be it.

  10. Otis, Vander Weide both said that they would take 2-3 weeks to evaluate. Its only been a week or so since then.

Those guys at the Sentinel have to write somethingrather if its gloom and doom or positive. Nothing's happening right now so they are trying to stir up ANYTHING.

When things like this are going on I tend not to take what the sentinel writes seriously. I suggest the same to yall. Just be patient. The organization is taking a good hard look at what needs to be done and I'm willing to bet it won't take the whole 3 weeks. They will not purposely drag this out. They know what they gotta do and they know their timeline to do it in.

  11. Well, you got Nick Anderson working for Orlando. You got Otis Smith as GM. Both guys joined the team in 89. Sam Vincent joined them in 89 as well. Quite the chemistry.

I dunno. Sam was a smart player back in the day and its good to have a coach who has played the game. I just don't know if he would make a good coach. Adelman and Iavaroni are the more proven commodities but maybe Vincent is that hidden gem. He is an experienced as an player and has been an assistant for the Mavs.

  12. Sorry I didn't post a quote.

Yeah, says a lot that its confirmed.

Whats funny is Sam Vincent and Otis played together. Maybe Otis is thinking about chemistry.

I just don't know much about him as a coach. I do know as a player he wasn't uberathletic but he had an good IQ. I dunno about this. Interesting nonetheless.

i've been in the arena, and i really don't care whether we get a new one or not... and i don't know if it's worth spending that much money just to retain the team... (although it would really piss me off if they left)

i understand that the arena is really messed up, but it seems to me that we're just being greedy. It's already a huge building that lets you have plenty of spectators. the new arena will be outdated in a decade anyway... so is it really worth it?

I think those people only care when they are winning. Theres a lot of fairweather Magic fans. If this team was deep in the playoffs, they'd be out of the woodwork. A lot had to do with the lockout too. Many of the locals took it personal which is why you hear the uneducated spew things out like "Devos should flip the whole bill". Its ridiculous. Yeah, he should flip the whole bill even though NO FREAKING TEAM does that and hes not using it but only 40% of the time.

The problem I have is the lack of knowledge that they have on this. Its not just about the Magic. I don't know why locals keep bringing up only the Magic when talking about building the arena. They'll only use it forty so percent of the year. Thats not even half. The city will use it just as much if not more. Theres a lot of entertainment that are not even scheduling a visit to Orlando because the Amway Arena does not have the necessities to stage major concerts/events. They are scheduling for Tampa and not even bothering with Orlando. Thats crazy. We are to big of a city to be passed over like that.
