Could be the end for a lot of guys

Why does Atl do this? They beat us with Smith. Why take back a lesser PF in Bass and a PG that isn't going to make them that much better in Meer? Your also banking on Arena's knee to be 100% for here on out. Not smart.

I think yall need to look at this with a different perception and really think about this. Lets say we do a deal with Portland where we send Meer and Hedo to them for Roy, Batum and Andre Miller. Lets say we use the Amnesty Clause on Roy BUT, we keep him around for very cheap which is highly unlikely but possible. Now, I know people think we should use that clause on Gil but after Gil saying what he said, and this was something I felt was wishful thinking, I think Gil has every intention to restructuring his contract. Maybe we do something like a 2 or 3 year deal with Gil. Andre Miller has 2 years on his contract. Meer has 3 so you take another year's worth of salary off the books. Miller gives you even at his old age, stability at the point if Gil never can get back to at least 80% of the player he was. We also get back a young defensive stud in Batum. Now, why can't we just do that with Gil's contract and use the Amnesty Clause on Hedo then? Wouldn't that be easier? Yeah but then your talking about trading Jameer along with Anderson or Bass and I don't think thats gonna net anything that most Magic fans THINK thats going to net. Philly has no need for ANOTHER pg so them taking Meer is useless and even though they wanna save money, they also wanna get better. Its not like they went to the Eastern Conference Finals. They still need to improve. Trading us Iggy, never seem realistic to me no matter what that cat from Realgm says. Why do a salary dump and make an conference rival better and not improving the roster in the present at the same time? Makes no sense. Our lineup would look like this.... Miller/Gil/Dudu JJ Batum/Richardson/Clark Bass/Clark/Anderson Howard/Fran maybe?/ We still could pull off some other moves. We could either dangle Bass and a future 1st rounder for Mayo or sign JR Smith. I prefer the 1st. I think Mayo would fit a lot better with this team. We also have some TPE's that we could use and sign a cheap big FA like a Jeff Foster or Hayes. The bigger picture is we could sign a Chris Paul or Deron Williams. At this point I like Deron because of the whole knee thing but Paul is definitely the better player if the knee holds up. When its all said and done, without any sign and trades with Jrich, we could have... Deron or CP3/Gil/Miller/Duaww who cares Mayo/JJ Batum/Clark/Qrich Fran?/Anderson/Clark Dwight/Foster or Hayes/Fran We still could land a PF somehow. Don't buy the Boozer theory. Don't wanna either.

You would think Mayo would be quite realistic since they almost gave him away. To get Iggy we'd probably have to get a 3rd team involved same as Ellis or Deron.

When it comes playoff time, Booz will be in the bed with ya. Holding you oh so tightly whispering "Its ok. I'm here."

Make us better in the season but I don't trust Booz in the playoffs. And with that massive contract...I'll pass.

I'd say more of a Tayshaun Prince but with more potential and athleticism. Edit: The reason why they'd let him go is because they have a logjam at the 2 and 3 spots. They got Gerald Wallace at the 3. Roy, Matthews, and Fernandez at the 2. They need a pg and or a backup pf.

I don't know if I'd wait until next season. If things aren't turned around this off season or at least signs of pieces that look like a team that contend for the next 5 years with Miami in the East, then you might want to give Otis that pink slip before next season and find a gm QUICK who can give Dwight a plan that he can believe in because right now, no one knows what the plan is. The Arena's and Shard thing, doesn't really bother me. I think any GM could see the Amnesty thing coming. Giving up a young big like Gortat who has experience in the playoffs and such, for 2 guys whos 30 and beyond AND giving up a first rounder, was a straight palm to the face. I know we got Clark back but the jury is still out on him and we're really just all banking on that P word.

I agree we don't have a clear cut starting PF but Booz is not the answer. I'd welcome Millsap before I'd welcome Booz just on contract conditions alone. Add into other aspects (no defense, fades in big games, injury prone, makes chicago better) that I've mentioned and it I see it breaking us more then making us. I will say too, that as much as Bass drives me crazy at times, at his young age of 26, I'd welcome him back before I'd welcome Booz.

He shoots and shoots because hes the best they got. They have no number 2 player. They have him and a bunch of 3, 4, 5 options. A lot like Dwight here in Orlando. His shot selection has to go up. Taking a look at his shot selection just from the field, he attempted about a shade above 19 shots a game. That is high. Now lets look at Baron Davis's whos never averaged over 9 assists a game mind you, got close with 8.9 in 05-06 BUT has a high amount of shots attempted from the field including a high amount from the 3 point line. In fact one year he averaged 20.6 FGA and 8.0 3PA. Raymond Felton isn't as bad but its not like hes Rondo. Hes been up in the mid to high teens as well. So has Nash. Rose isn't even in his prime yet and his 2 guard is Bogans. Come on. That alone shouldn't take much convincing on how much better JRich would be for Rose and vice versa. The whole arguement though is about us landing Booz which imo, is not a deal we should make. He has a huge contract. Hes not getting younger. He has a history of fading in the playoffs and for all his great rebounding numbers, does nothing to help us defensively. You would also be making Chicago a better team.

Giving up Gortat and reaquiring Hedo was the big mistake for me.

His career high averages in points were under good to great pgs. Playing along side of Baron Davis he averaged a career high of 23.2 ppg. In charlotte he played with Raymond Felton and averaged 21.8. With Nash he only got 19.3 but shot a career high 47% from the field with Steve Nash. Where was I wrong?

:svgsad: @ the Duhon talk. As far as Booz coming here, I wouldn't touch him and heres why. 1. You'd be actually doing Chicago, your conference rival a favor by taking his large contract off their hands and giving them a sg who has a history of flourishing under a great pg in JRich. 2. You'd give them a young PF in Bass who still has room to improve AND puts Taj Gibson, a better suited player for them and has shined in the playoffs, where Booz has faded, in a more prominent role. That actually makes them more of a contender. Booz is a great stat guy but you gotta be careful of guys who has developed somewhat of history of fading in playoff games with large contracts. Now, at 6-7 million a year, fine but not with the money he is getting now. The PF spot to me is something I don't find to be as much as a priority than to find a legit playmaker at the 2/3 spot and putting Hedo's *** on the bench.

The post was in response to Cats comment on how trades might be difficult to make before hand and without knowing what it will be, trades could be difficult to do afterwards. But yeah, Hedo on the bench is an improvement in itself.

I firmly believe a deal doesn't get done without the amnesty clause. Theres just to many bad contracts floating around and it would save a lot of small market teams. If the pending CBA makes things difficult, screw it: Meer/Arenas JJ Prince/Hedo Bass/Anderson/Clark (hopefully Fran comes over) Dwight/Hayes or Foster/Fran BTW, anyword on Fran lately? Or better yet, from his girl?

Trade Hedo to GS, GS trades Ellis to us and Biedrins to Philly, Philly trades Iggy to GS Devin Harris and Milsap to us and we trade Bass, Meer and Duhon to Utah. If we have to we can send a resigned Jrich instead of Bass since they might not want Dudu. Now if we get a committment from Fran, the Milsap trade might not be needed but with the lockout looming, I wouldn't be surprise if he stays in spain.

Alright I'll bite. Realistic Lineup: Jameer/Arenas/Duhon Mayo/JJ Prince/Hedo/Richardson Anderson/Clark Howard/JFoster Now, if we get Fran over here, then him, Anderson and Clark duke it out. We trade Bass and a future 1st rounder for Mayo. Sign Prince for cheap. Keep Meer because I unlike some of yall, don't feel confident that Arenas can ever last a full season again and bring Hedo off the bench and when hes playing like hes a few slices short of a large pizza pie, play Richardson. I would love to say Iggy is a possibility but I don't believe it. If 76ers makes a trade banking on them being able to cut salaries because of the new CBA and the amnesty rule, then why wouldn't they just use it on him? Why even make a trade just to make one? AND if your gonna trade him why trade him to a conference rival?

No you don't. What you really want is a balance. It seems like we have yet to have a team since the early 90's thats balanced defensively and offensively.
