    Preseason Thread

Maybe it was my post? I'm a fan man. We all are. We come here to post our thoughts and opinions. We don't have to be right all the time or be some analysis providing exact mathematical answers for our opinions. We based a lot on eye viewing. Part of the enjoyment of being a fan imo. From what I've seen out of Dipo the last few years, and what I see from Mario, it's the preseason I know, you can see Mario is more seasoned offensively. Was that a surprise? Dipo was never a offensive player in college. He was a defensive player who was a slasher. He was never a player you give the ball in ISO and let him create offense. He has shown above average capability in that role and I wouldn't doubt the possibility of him improving even more and this whole talk will be moot then. Dude is a gym rat with a good IQ. I'm not ready to give up on him or trade him right now. I'm just looking at the bigger picture down the road. Mario is a legit 6'8 who is showing the potential to be a better offensive player (also with crazy athleticism and arguably better handles) WHICH is what got him the attention and picked at 5. In the games I've seen, Mario just looks a lot more capable overall to handle whatever the defense gives him. Dipo, again, no slouch, seems to know but at times, seems to get lost. It's early. No one is proposing trading Dipo right now but it's something to keep in the back of our minds because I agree firmly with Cat, AG will be a SF in the long haul and I said this a year ago. When AG speaks, he always mentions himself and the SF position. Sure, he'll switch to PF at times but the man improved his outside shot because he feels like with his length on defense, his ability to pass the ball off of the rebound, he believes he's a better weapon at the SF spot. Crazy thing is, so does Tobias. He's echoed the same comments. In due time, we're gonna have to get a PF who WANTS to be a PF. Not just spend some time there and while we'll enjoy the current players and their contributions, some of us also will enjoy talking about the possibilities on how to acquire that PF.

Well, I wasn't feeling that way until we got Mario. Dude just looks like he knows what to do and when to do it. Dipo is no slouch but Mario just makes him look worse. The question is what's gonna happen to Payton.,

I was thinking the same thing while watching last nights game. I love Dipo but Mario appears to be a better player. You can just see the difference when watching Dipo with the ball in his hands compared to Mario. Mario has the instinctive IQ where as Dipo still looks like he's trying to figure it out and unsure.

ESPN hasn't been watchable since the early 90's. I remember in the morning before school watching the REAL Sportscenter and seeing all the highlights from every game...Even with teams without winning records, superstars, or big markets.

Never paid attention to the date I joined...Until now...Holy @#$&.

Where can I watch past playoff games?

Watching Sonics vs Jazz in 2000 playoffs right now. A veteran Payton, young Shard Lewis, and Vin Baker against Malone and Stockton. Awesome game. Goggles and Brent Barry are there too. It's on NBATV.

    Kevin Pelton thread

The article seems vague about it. It mentions small ball and the context reads as a situational base thing but then goes on and talks about how Tobias is working on his body to prepare for the 4 spot. It's early. I believe training camp and matchups will dictate it.

    Kevin Pelton thread

It seemed like Tobias was a better defender before last season. Maybe I'm wrong. I just think he came in last season just focusing on being the man offensively after working so hard on his outside shot and getting leaner. We were known as a team with no goto guy and he really wanted to be that. His intentions were sound. If he takes that work ethic and applies it to what Skiles preaches, he would not only elevate his status as an player, but elevate the team to an playoff team.

    Our starting 5 next year

For Dipo, he needs to gain strength to absorb contact.

Better grasp than me? I can't tell...I'm not an cap expert by any means but if I agree with Rob's decision, but you don't agree with it, but you have a better grasp than me but not Rob....Your talking out your you know what bud. You grasp NEGATIVITY it seems. I'll let you keep that.

? You really think you have a better grasp on the cap situation than Rob and the rest of the league? Dude, we didn't get the number 1 pick. Rob had nothing to do with that. He did what he was paid to do. Get the best player with pick you have and we'll see if that's the case. Personally, I 'm pretty amped about Hezonja and I wonder what kind of my player he'll be compared to Wiggins. Btw, you did see what GS just did right? Guess how long their build took?

I'm not making anything out more than what is. It's simple math. Also, you have no real projection to Harris being an permanent role player. He very well might come out of training camp and become an all star. Vuch wasn't just an perfect deal...He was a STEAL with the cap increase.

15% on a 22 year old who dropped 17 and 7?! Wow. In the next two years, we'll know where Harris/Hezonja/AG stand as players or at least have some clue. When the cap at over 100 million, Harris, if he is outplayed and becomes expendable,he will be an contract friendly player who teams will easily trade for. If AG or Hezonja fail, you don't resign them to large contracts, if at all. Very simple man. I don't know why your having an hard time with this.

Ok...How much do you think Rob overpaid? Please respond in the context with the cap being what is now. 12 million now isn't what 12 million was some odd years ago.

    Official 2015 Offseason Thread

The cap is going to continue increase in 2+ years. That's what your not grasping. Henny resigned Harris in perfect harmony to what the cap will do in the next 4 years while giving us ample room to resign those who will be our core. Your last paragraph is your blinded frustration from seeing things rationally. SA built their team the same way, through the draft. Manu, Parker, TD, Leonard, all drafted.

  22. Magicman28

    Official 2015 Offseason Thread

Your projecting that the 4 ahead of him will, without a doubt, will be more of an contributor than Harris. What if Harris comes in this season and drops 20 and 10 and makes all star reserves or something? Just hypothetically. He becomes an 1st option , 2nd option player getting paid 4th option money.
  23. Magicman28

    Official 2015 Offseason Thread

Your just being hard headed. Harris's contract, with cap inflation, is that of an 3rd to 4th option player. The cap is going to go up over the next few seasons. It's basic economics. Henny paid an potential all star who has shown to hit clutch shots, 3rd option type money in the present market. Which also means his contract is very tradeable. Know why? Because every one's value went up due to the inflation.
