Only in Orlando. I've heard this nationally and let me lay something on you salesman: The security detail at the Finals is given rigorous training and are told that no one is allowed in without proper ID and credentials. They aren't told, "Oh, but if they're famous its OK." This story is being twisted. You see, it wasn't that they didn't believe who he was, it was because he wasn't wearing what he should have been wearing when he entered. Security did their job. It had nothing to do with Orlando. It could have happened in any city. You're right. He should have had his credentials. It must have been a funny scene, the guard calling his captain stating. " I got this 7'2" dude claiming he's Kareem Abdul Jabbar. " Let me ask you this; Would this have happened to Shaq if he was in a similar circumstance ?

    Pony Up The Money RDV...

Insighfull post. Unfortunately, one of the main components that add value to a franchise is GODDWILL. Not even a much hyped team like Cleveland will ever achieve that, especially after I've read in a few places, Cleveland's value will decrease by $100 M if Lebron flees. That takes time and the local market would weigh heavy. The Knicks are a prime example. Aren't they the second most valuable franchise in the NBA, and what have they done this last decade ? The added value only means something if you use it's equity or sell of at a higher value. I'd say the owner would prefer to pocket the windfall more than anything else.
  5. The butter is getting hard and the jello is jiggling. Two nil starts translate to approx. 94.7 probability of winning all the marbles. This thing is in the fridge.

    How will Courtney respond?

I'd be more concerned about how Howard responds after this potential sweep. I wouldn't exactly call this a Bill Buckner moment for Lee. It wasn't exactly a gimmie. He'll be alright.

As Chick Hearn use to say ........

That's a response one would expect from an NBA novice or from that one that suffers the fact the Magic don't have anything close near the quality of what Chick Hearn was. Relying on the comic strips of the OS sports page doesn't help either. I'm sure there's a volume of Chickisms. The one selected was the most apt. This thing is in the fridge .

    Magic Loses 2011 All-Star game

    Magic Loses 2011 All-Star game

I'm sure Stern doesn't have confidence it would be ready. I'm also sure he's been briefed on the 11 year old saga just yo break ground.

Some unconventional lineups that may work

A few days ago I opened up a thread about Lue. Not a great player but this might have been a situation for him. With the Nelson business/ svg is swimming against the riptide.
  13. For good reason Nicolas II was the last czar.

    tiger picks.....lakers???

quote: Originally posted by KLR:Well, now that I learned he is torn I have lost some respect for him basketball wise. Stick to your team, it doesn't matter that he lives in Orlando. A true, die hard, born and raised Californian, Lakers fan is not torn in this finals. It's Lakers all the way. Like I said in another post, I made an attempt to back the Magic when I moved here from Los Angeles. Couldn't do it.It's all or nothing .In fact, I only trespass Orlando once a year in December when the Lakers come. On that thought, it wouldn't suprise me if ABC makes it the X Mas game next year if it's a decent series.

    Tonight's commercial rollout

For an encore, that ho in Colorado is still trying to make a buck off Kobe. She's debuting her video; Kobe .... tell me how my *** taste.

    Tonight's commercial rollout

NBA 2K10 will role out it's ad campaign with Kobe's replacing Garnett image. Viewers will have the opportunity to select four potential images that might grace the product , which will be available on October 6th. My vote is for this ....
  18. What makes this topic interesting here, is the settlement of the Kobe vs. Lebron ( for the moment). Thats what the vast majority of the world NBA Fan population wanted clearence on. The minority (MCO) took offense as we have read endlessly in this space, and all of a sudden they are intrigued ????

    Obama picks Lakers....

Didn't support Obama, probably never will. He might be turning the corner though. Hell of a speech he gave in Cairo this morning. That along with his - the man actually might be finally wising up.

What's the take on Lue ?

This player has been off my radar since he's left the Lakers. We remember hin with fondness as he changed the series against the Sixers after they took the first game. Iverson caused the Lakers fits, but that changed when Lue got the assignment to pester him. LA won the next four games once Phil discovered that formula. I wonder if he still has some of that speed left, as my recollections are seven or eight years old. In light of the fact that Brooks gave LA a handfull with his size and speed, perhaps SVG might want to try this line of attack that proved successful against the Lakers. No doubt,he as proven himself on this stage before. Just throwing out another angle and perhaps he's seen better days. Don't know.

    Whats in your Magic collection?

When I first moved here five years ago, I made an honest effort to be a magic fan. I bought a Magic cap and Grant Hill's jersey. At my first game, I was hit by culture shock and it became apparent it had to be all or nothing. I'm a Laker & Dodger fan for life. Just couldn't get into it. I respect the talented local team wholeheartedly but, too much sweat and tears shed for my native team since 72. Having said, today at work, we are allowed to sport our colors. I got the whole office supplied with Laker gear.

They already got woken in Houston and aren't taking the upcomming assignment lightly. So says the team that went 7 games against a TMAC less Rockets and then a Yao less Rockets. I have zero faith the Lakers can maintain ANY focus. If you look at the aggreagte results ( reg and playoffs ) Houston always matched up better without Ming. It was favorable to Houston when Ming went out in that series. As we know it's about match ups and not mmarque players. I'm sure that ZERO FAITH comment about focus is a heavy variable in your equation. Didn't suprise me your gig is based of faith. You're a very FAITHFULL Magic Fan and sure make them proud. Yo man claim down, don't you know this is a magic message board and their is going to be biased opinions? This is going to be a good series and i am rooting for the magic and your rooting for the lakers, just have fun and relax. No worries man. I'm chillin with you all having fun. I don't take these games much to heart.

What's the take on Lue ?

So hopefully he'll be a very good benchwarmer this series. And there were some that wanted him to play during the playoffs. Thankfully SVG didn't listen to then. He suffered that also with the Lakers but instantly became that situational player when the moment presented itself. A disposable player you get rid after he suits your temporary needs.
