Tonight feels must win to me. Last game of the road trip, 3 game winning streak, a win puts us 2 games over the Heat and a little bit of a cushion in the 7 spot versus being 8th and 3 or 4 games up of 9 (depending on if the Bulls win tonight).

I agree   to me this game will say alot about our team   can we rise to the occasion? Can we handle the pressure that I am sure the guys will be feeling?  Is this rotation of fultz as a starter but not as a closer working? Can the death line up be beaten once folks know that is what we are doing?   And what about Cole?    And what about Gary Harris?   I think, like you, that this is a very important game.

Also it’s huge for the tiebreaker, we lose tonight, we lose the season series 1-3 and Miami owns the tiebreaker with us if we wind up tied

Well we got blown out :(

Franz with 3 turnovers and the team has 4. 2 points scored and almost halfway through the first quarter! You're right. Disgusting is the perfect way to describe it!

The problem is that sooner or later these lousy starts catch up with you, as we saw last night.  It’s hard to play from behind all the time.

The Embiid news of another meniscus tear is really tough news for that team. Given his injury history and body, I don’t see him coming back for a long while… meaning that team is about to drop in the standings

Yes. When Embiid is healthy no one can stop him.  He’s like an adult playing against children.  But Philly depends on him a great deal for their success.

It is not on Fultz. Poor start vs Pistons was because of Carter. 3 turnovers on lazy passes, 2 missed FT, bad D. Fultz is actually good involving everyone and sharing the ball. I just don’t understand what’s with his shoulder again. He is not comfortable anymore even with short jumpers. He was automatic from the mid range last year.

You’re right, but this past game was the third or fourth in a row where we’ve gotten off to a bad start.  To me the weak link in the starting lineup is Fultz, mainly because of the second part of your post;  there is something very wrong with his jump shot mechanics, and there are no signs it’s getting any better.  As you say, although his lack of a three point shot was somewhat of a liability even last year,  he was very effective from mid range, and could even carry the load offensively at times.  That appears to be gone.  All he shoots now are layups.

Ok so here's a thing. If the Suggs/Franz/Paolo/Isaac/WCJ lineup is the one you want to go to in the 4th quarter, do you even need to make a trade that brings in a starter? Or do you just make a more fringe move to add another vet shooter?

Fultz is not part of that lineup you’ve got above, and our poor starts are still worrisome.  I’d like to see a PG who can get that first unit going, and leave the above group intact to finish out games.

Franz exits the game and everything goes downhill! The aggressive drives to the rack disappear and we start settling for outside shots again. And I have to say that Paolo can hold the ball too long at times. A lot of standing around out there while guys watch him hog the ball. Just an observation. Please feel free to criticize that assessment folks.

We have a problem at times, especially at the end of games, where everyone stands around except Franz and Paulo who individually try to go one on three.  We’ve been better with that lately though.

One thing I have noticed is that we have to be one of the worst team in the NBA while running a 3 on 1 fastbreak.  Just had one here recently and Fultz turned it over. However, it's good that we snagged the lead back. Now we need to drop the hammer and put these guys away.

Agree.  If we can get a decent lead going in the third, they’ve lost so much they might get discouraged and fold.  But if we let them keep it close, it could go either way. They’ve definitely got some young talent.

I see the familiar trend of horrible first quarters has continued against the high school team they are playing today. Allowing this team to shoot 55 percent while surrendering 29 points is totally unacceptable on multiple levels. And what's up with Wendell? He is a turnover machine out there today. As someone here mentioned recently, how long can we keep playing with fire until we get burned?

Agree with your comment but our guys must not underestimate this team, which has won 3 of their past 10.  If our guys think of them as a high school team and don’t take them seriously we will lose.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before.. the starters have come out sluggish

Yeah what is this with terrible first quarters?  We’ve clawed our way back in recent games, but as someone else said, it’s kind of playing with fire.  Sooner or later we’ll get burned

Friendly reminder, the game is early today. 3 PM EST @ Detroit.

Go Magic! Let’s not let this be a trap game

Yeah, that's a very good point about trap game.  Detroit is 6-42 so you have to assume they are very unlikely to win.  But then you look a little further and you see that they've won 3 of their last 10.  So half their wins for the season have come in the past 10 games.  It looks like they're starting to play better and may now believe they can win some games, especially at home. This is not the time to overlook this team.

…..The playoffs is more like this and he can't just be whining about no calls while his 4 team mates are trying to play defense. I liked that the refs let them play on both ends, thought the officiating was pretty even and they let both teams play physical. I prefer that to watching teams shoot 35 FTs each…..

Totally agree with this.  Flow of the game was so much better without stopping every 30 seconds to shoot free throws.

Yes, I should be ashamed of myself for waving the white flag so early! I deserved the down votes! Shame on me! However, being wrong never felt so good! What a comeback win tonight! This could be the start of a nice winning streak!

Would give this a plus one except I’m out.
