Game over. I already called the blowout loss tonight to the Knicks. Relatively easy call to make and I made it correctly. No defense. No winning. Plain and simple.

Brunson returns and the fun is over folks. The fun is over. He will stretch the lead to 14 for the Knicks by halftime. Essentially Brunson gets what Brunson wants. Clearly, he is on a mission tonight.

Harry, you have to think positive. Very important.

This one was never in doubt tonight folks. Paolo was clearly on a mission and order was restored to the universe.

This didn’t age well, either. Love it. Oh the life of a Magic fan. Let’s go!

I may have thought they were gonna lose. But I knew they were gonna win. There's a difference there folks. And to be quite honest I really didn't think about it until I thought about it.

Obviously some trolling going on here.  Actually there was a poster who used to post just like this a few years ago.  I don’t recall who it was but the moderators might.  I’m certain MagicTime22 has been here before under a different name.

Kind of entertaining if you don’t take it seriously.

You don’t always have to drive …learn to shoot better …make better reads …we can’t change our personnel now till next season

Ideally but expecting people to significantly improve in the middle of a season seems unrealistic to me.  For the most part, by this point in the season they are who they are.

I wasn’t just talking about this game …my points were for EVERY game …and well, the personnel we have right now is what we’ll have to the end of the season …so hopefully others will stop making TO’s and improve their game also …not just Fultz that needs to improve his game …I’d add that even if Fultz isn’t here next year our studs need to improve in making the right reads

    Agree with all of this

This question is for Soul Bro but anybody can answer and I’d prefer if whoever answers has actually played competitive basketball before cause I know Soul Bro did for a little while .

If you’re on the floor with your team …when your team has the ball the opponent is slacking off one of your guys …you have the ball and try to drive into multiple players and lose the ball or you throw an errant pass …is that the players fault who the opponent was slacking off of guarding for your committing a TO ?

    I’ll answer for you …HECK NO !

I played college bb …my son did too …and he’s not a Fultz fan …he and I discussed on the way home …I averaged 24 ppg in college and I can tell you I had guys in my lineup that couldn’t shoot and the D slacked off of …but any turnover I committed was my own dang fault and nobody else but mine …my son agreed.

This thing that Fultz playing style causes others to commit turnovers is complete BS.

How do you combat teams slacking off of one of your guys ? …Learn to dang shoot yourself ! Or work on your quickness and learn to beat people off the dribble ! Create for others ! Once you’ve worked on your ability to beat people off the dribble …and this is important …Learn to pass the ball accurately ! Make the right read !…if teams are packing the paint …and I watched it this OKC game …not only is Fultz being left open but others have to be also …you gotta make the right read and you can’t do it with your head down when driving into multiple players …and this goes for any player .

It’s not either or, it’s both.  Bad passing is on the person who makes the pass, but if you’re trying to get into the paint and it’s constantly clogged up, the chance of turning it over is going to be consistently higher than if there was more room.  Just a lot less margin for error, and can’t expect every pass to be perfect.

On my way home …great jersey hang ceremony with Shaq …all the players from his time here telling some priceless stories .

JI …kid was a minus 24 in just 15 minutes …never thought I’d see the day that happened …Mohs even tried that one lineup with him, Harris, Cole, Franz and his brother …all could shoot …made no difference .

But let’s blame Fultz jajaja for this one .

Tell you what …Fultz has until the end of the year to start at minimum hitting midranges again or his career may be over …We need him to do that …28 games left to play

Edit: SGA is an absolute wrecking ball …saw an article today on insider he’s in second place for MVP …man I got a Birds Eye view of his ability …WOW

No one is saying Fultz alone caused this loss.  That’s a mischaracterization.  The team as a whole played poorly.

The point being made is different.  It’s pretty apparent we need better spacing and better shooting.  In other words we need pieces that better complement Wagner and Banchero.  When you look at it, PG appears to be one obvious area where we could make such an upgrade.

Ignoring the 7boards is so obvious. You just hate the guy. Not all are steph nor peak paul. Having 7boards on limited time is worth noting and you conveniently ignore it.

Because I don’t think you primarily need rebounds from your point guards.  Any rebounds are a plus but not the core of what you’re looking for.  I don’t know how many rebounds SGA had tonight nor does it really matter.

First quarter was very very good …up 9 when Fultz went out …but keep blaming him …when as a team we are near the bottom from the arc it’s more than him …and he also gave Franz and I don’t remember who else wide open looks that they couldn’t knock down …my son and I grimacing with each miss …my son saying we are getting good looks …but yeah I know everybody has to have a scapegoat …and Fultz is it

Fultz played 18.5 minutes, had 4 points on 2 of 5 shooting and 4 assists.  A non factor in my book.  Those kinds of stats from your starting PG won’t help you win games.

  8. 9 minutes ago, ball junkie said:

So glad Mohs put Fultz on the bench the majority of the second half so yall can find somebody else to blame …Mohs tried every friggin lineup on the planet …at one point had 4 shooters around JI …not saying Fultz is the be all end all …but just look at the box score and you can find a lot more to blame than Fultz …he actually had the highest plus minus on the team

They scored practically every time they had the ball check the shooting percentages …if we don’t play D we don’t win

Fultz was basically a non factor.  We can’t keep playing 4 v 5 on offense.  And we missed a ton of shots and had 16 turnovers (many when trying to pass into clogged up areas near the basket).  Hard to play good defense when you’re scrambling back and don’t have time to get set up.  The bad offense also affects the defense.

    Last Week:15

    Record: 29-24

    OffRtg: 112.6 (24) DefRtg: 111.7 (4) NetRtg:+0.9 (14) Pace: 98.4 (24)

The Magic had a month-long stretch (Dec. 31 to Jan. 29) where they went 5-11. They’ve since gone 5-1 to remain in competition for a top-six seed in the Eastern Conference.

    Three takeaways

    • Not surprisingly, the Magic have been winning with defense. Their win over the Spurs on Thursday was their fourth most efficient offensive performance of the season (127 points on 98 possessions) and came with 34 points on 13-for-17 shooting from Franz Wagner, but they rank just 24thoffensively over this 5-1 stretch.
    • A big issue has been turnovers: 15.8 turnovers per 100 possessions (30th) over the last 12 days. They still rank 11th in turnover differential for the season (minus-0.5 per game), but have committed 16 more than their opponents over their last three games. They had six in both the first and third quarters in Miami on Tuesday (the one loss), losing those two periods by a combined score of 66-45.
    • The defensive success (109.5 points allowed per 100 possessions over the six games) comes with the context that five of the six opponents rank in the bottom 10 offensively, with the sixth being the Wolves, who rank 18th. But the Magic have allowed just 113.8 points per 100 possessions (well below the league average) in 19 total games against teams that rank in the top 10 on offense.

Their worst defensive game against that group (two weeks ago in Dallas) was the second game of a back-to-back, and the Magic are just 2-8 (with seven straight losses) without rest. Their last two pre-break games are a tough, home-home back-to-back against two top-10 offenses (those of the Thunder and Knicks).

Week 17: vs. OKC, vs. NYK

    https://www.nba.com/news/power-rankings-2023-24-week-17

We’ve gone 5-1 past couple of weeks so they dropped us two spots this week.  I guess I don’t understand how they come up with this stuff.

I’m so pumped for this game tomorrow I’m posting a day early haha …told my son a month ago to pick a game he chose this one …little did we know it’d be the Shaq jersey hang night …back in 19995 I bought a Shaq jacket with his signature embroidered into the fabric …and a pic of his signature dunks on the back …gave it to my sons …asked them if we still have it they said sure check my clothes rack …I did and there it was …I think we are sitting close to the TNT booth gonna try to get the Shaq signing …friends telling me I get it signed the jacket will increase immensely in value .

On top of all this as mentioned it’s a national game …can’t remember last time Magic played in one …we can impress the nation against a top if not the best Western team …then you have the Chet Banchero thing …friends telling me the KIA center should be jumping …this game and then the Knicks before the break …we have a chance to make a statement …Zach Lowe said the Knicks increased their standing in the East at the deadline …let’s see what this young team can do .

I hope for you and your son’s sake (and all of us also) that it’s a good game.

We lost to them last time but a lot of our team was out, including Fultz, Wagner, Harris, and Wendell.  That won’t be the case tomorrow and we’ll be at home.

I knew the collective BBIQ of this forum was low when THAT was the fight yall chose to stand your ground on.. I'll see myself out..

I'm not following this thread at all and have no idea who Risacher is, but what a totally weird post.  Guy obviously has some issues.

I hope he doesn't let the door hit him in the tuchus on the way out.

Can we Please Please stop with the redoing the trade deadline    everyone has opinions    this is our team at least untill the summer      can we just get behind them untill then

At this point it’s not about the trade deadline, which has elapsed.  It’s about observing the team, and suggesting how we can improve.  I think that’s fair game at any time.

Yeah everybody knows the data ad nauseam …I said he knows and we all know he needs to shootem when applicable …give it a chance …see how the team does the rest of the regular season and into the playoffs …I suggest you take your Fultz complaints in an email to Weltham …cause he made this decision …not me though I like it …don’t know if anyone has noticed but lately and periodically Mohs has been posting Fultz at the foul line …letting him operate from there and make decisions …he’s great at it …sorry you guys that wanted the trade are so butt hurt …not sure what to advise you for the next 2 months if you don’t like the product on the floor .

I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about this stuff.  Work keeps me too busy. But I saw your comment and felt it needed a response.  So I won’t be writing to Weltman.

We know how the better teams play us.  They pack the paint and dare us to shoot, or force us to drive into triple teams and turn it over. Quite often, that results in a blow out.  We’ve seen plenty of it already.  We don’t need to wait until the playoffs so we can see it again.
