We have returned to life! I forgot we’re always bad to start off after we’ve been off a few days.
-
We scored all of 11 points in the first quarter. Shot 17% overall, 0-8 from three, and none of them were very close.

So far not happening. We are down 21-9. Can’t hit anything.
-
Wasn’t the refs fault that we went 10-35 from three or that we shot 13-18 from the free throw line

All the starters negative +/- Frantz -27. JI +26. Rarely have I seen that kind of discrepancy with two players on the same team in one game.
-
Too bad, did not capitalize on a fantastic game by JI

-
Franz shooting getting worse by the game
-
Last possession no one except Paulo touched the ball and he wound up shooting a bad step back three. We have to move the ball in crunch time

Clean injury report for us as of now for today’s game. Even Jett and the two ways are listed as available

Oh and the whole team isn’t shooting too well. 45% overall, 35% from 3.

Turnovers for one. Markelle just can’t shoot at all at this point.

To say this is an ugly game is more than an understatement.

So far that’s a plus. Raptors barely have an NBA roster; I’ve never heard of about half of them. Our poor 3 point shooting and careless turnovers have been the story so far. Hopefully it will change soon.

All those games where it’s impossible for everyone around us to win at the same time will be important.
If they keep being tied after like the fifth overtime, is there a rule where they both lose?

And even Cole Anthony. While I completely agree with All Eyes that our stars have reasons why they might not have confidence in other players on the floor with them, I think it’s something they need to overcome. If they never even look at the open guy in the corner, it’s not only demoralizing for those players being ignored, but again puts us into a 3 or 4 vs five situation on offense, which is unfavorable.
I’d like to see our best players try to make these other guys better while they’re out there. If it doesn’t work, then get rid of those players and find someone else who can better compliment our best players.

Physical defenders are slapping at the ball when Paolo drives and are great at jarring it loose. Paolo is strong, don’t get me wrong, but he needs to get stronger in that area. His handle has been really really loose the past several games.
I might disagree with you on this a little bit. No matter who you are, driving one versus three against good NBA defenders is going to fail most of the time. Both the guys you mentioned are excellent passers, and when they get double or triple teamed they pass the ball to an open teammate. That gets to the other point that’s being made here about spacing. Those other teammates are good enough to make you pay if you double or triple team one guy, leaving them with an open shot, and that’s a difference from us.
Also, our stars are not doing enough to get the other players on the floor involved, as is also being mentioned above. Houstan, for example, while standing in the corner was often open and no one even looked at him. Makes it easier on the defense if they can forget about a player or two and just help guard the others.

JJZL and someone else on this board have said it before how Paolo and Franz have tried it so many times, driving to the basket with a crowd of players on the other team surrounding them under the basket, and most of the time preventing them from scoring.
Other teams look at our tapes and know how to defend us because they know that we are not good at 3pt. shooting, rely too much on Franz and Paolo to do the scoring, and most of it comes from inside the paint. We need to run and stop walking the ball up the court allowing the other team to get in defensive position; also, we need to move the ball more to find an open man, instead of 4 players standing around watching 1.
All I can say is amen.

I think games like the last two are a real reminder that we're so far away from being a complete team.
A 36 year old Joe Ingles shouldn't be the first guy off the bench for any team in the league. He can barely move on defense and for someone who's a great passer he turns the ball over a lot. Even if he is still the best shooter on the team by a mile.
Playing good teams really opens up that there are some deep, foundational, flaws with the way this team is built that will require either some impressive player development or some tough decisions in trades if we want to ultimately win a championship. (And I'm not even just talking about the lack of shooting)
Wendell and JI were awesome in the loss though.
Agree with everything, except to quibble with your last sentence. Wendell Carter was 5 for 13 shooting, including zero for five from three-point range. So while he may have stood out in some areas, I would not call his game “awesome” overall.

My son and I had a good time despite the result. Atmosphere of going to a major league event is always special.

No matter how good Paolo and Franz in ball handling relative to their size, they can only do it in spurts and not the whole game as their energy will be wasted just bring the ball down being pressured by the opponents.
Even prime Lebron needs someone to bring the ball down on crucial possession.
Cole don’t count as he is not a “natural” PGWhat we need is better teamwork, better spacing, and more threats on the floor. Paulo, Franz, Wendell and Cole took about 75% of our shots tonight and none of them were shooting well.

2 minutes ago, All Eyes On Me said:Worst thing that could’ve happened to the offense is Cole hit his first 3 shots of the 4th. Now we’re all gonna watch him brick us into oblivion
Ingles actually really hurt us in the fourth, two bad passes

Can’t have Mo in there without Isaac. Like a layup line for Indiana. Zero interior defense.

6 minutes ago, TrueMagicFan07 said:Has Houstan attempted a shot yet? It seems like he is alway passing the ball.
He’s mostly standing in the corner on whatever side of the court is farthest away from the action.

How is it live? Watching it from TV, it feels like low energy and low effort. I’ve seen multiple times for example where Paolo just doesn’t care on defense, especially if he misses one of those chucked up shots.
Seems like good energy but neither team can shoot worth a darn. We’ve been ahead all game which is nice, even though we missed a chance to potentially blow it open early. Lots of fouls so it’s kind of choppy.
Thank you for the good wishes BTW.

Starters back in and GS goes on 8-0 run. Believe it or not, our starters are 4-24 with less than 4 minutes left in first half.
