I suggest a new thread. That way anyone looking at this in the future doesn’t have to scroll to page 180-200 to get to the actual draft discussion. However, it’s a very minor deal either way.
-
At times in the past, we started another thread when it was time for the actual draft. Not sure whether we want to do that this year or not.
-
As someone who doesn’t really follow college basketball, I’ve definitely benefited from your posts.
-
Amen. It’s been fun to follow.
-
I agree with you
-
I hope this turns out to be true, but it’s way overstated at this point. Right now, we don’t have anyone who’s even close to being an All-Star. Maybe some of our current young players will get there some day, but it’s a long shot and I wouldn’t call any of these players “steals” unless they prove themselves.
-
Thank you

I haven’t followed these guys and am having a hard time keeping them straight. How do Moody and Giddey compare?
-
You are very likely to be disappointed but kudos to you for optimism.
-
Why are those steals? They might turn out to be steals in the future but we are not there yet.
-
Every FO is trying to build a dynasty. What matters is whether they succeed
-
I would make it a toss up between Hezonja and Payton with Bamba still in the running. We probably should start a thread on this :)
-
I agree. I’m tired of always waiting until next year to draft a shooter.
-
To get to the pearl, do we need to draft an oyster?
-
Great post, some work went into that, thank you. I look at that list and my first thought is “Yikes”
-
Sold :)

I understand. I was not the one advocating to keep Vuch, although I understand that line of thinking also. Good discussion, +1 from me.
-
Maybe, maybe not. But even if we were picking 7 vs 5, the argument is that it’s not better to sacrifice team development by losing a bunch of games for a “meaningless” slight improvement in draft position.
-
But how do you determine who is better and who is worse? Overvaluing what we have now will not help with making moves that could help the team.
-
Very true. I’ll have the same concerns if it does work out that way, though. How many times can we do exactly the same thing?
-
What we did at the latter half of last season was tanking. We were mostly playing G-league players to avoid winning “meaningless” games. What we did with Hennigan was tanking. Put a bunch of young players out with an inexperienced coach and see what happens. With heart and hustle we tried to build a competitive team even though we were rebuilding. They played to win every game. The attitude was completely different
-
So at 5 and 8 we take two guys who are athletes and defensive standouts but not reliable scorers? That might work on a team that has some shooters but I don’t know that it would work well for us
-
No. We went out there trying to compete and win every game. There was no talk of benching people or playing weird rotations to lose on purpose. We had plenty of veterans. We competed every game and just barely missed the playoffs. This was the opposite of tanking.
