No. I wanted a big man planted in the paint.

Not a single big man defending in the paint with 0.8 seconds to go? Not enough time for a catch and shoot.

Official 2014-2015 Strapped-In Season Thread

That's true. In fact, he's probably responsible for winning a couple of games for us with his play in the 4th quarters. -

Don't they sometimes downgrade the flagrants if the league reviews after the fact? Or is that only done with technicals? -
Tough game. Too late for me to watch. Magic could go one of two ways after this. Either continue to build on two very good performances in a row, or get discouraged after last night. Likely they will also be tired tonight. It will be interesting to see how they play the next few games.

Magic at Suns: On paper, this is one we should probably lose. We've lost four in a row, the last three badly. And the Suns are 10-7. Which is why I think we have a good chance. Unexpected things happen all the time, and the Magic may feel less pressure being on the road. They may also be getting tired of getting blown out. Let's go Magic!

Are we better without Victor Oladipo?

Agree. Plus O'Quinn is just getting going again after missing most of the games so far due to injury. Give him a few more games to shake off the rust. -

Way to go Magic! Little ugly at the end but they held on and got the W, and that's all that counts. -

6 minutes left and we're up by 11. We could not ask for a better opportunity. Let's close this one out. A small run here would probably be enough, the Suns haven't looked that energetic tonight. -

LOL. Doesn't seem like one of their finer games, that's for sure. -

Agree. Let's hope we can continue that. Payton helps, but we've got Payton, Gordon and Green all in together at this point. -
17 turnovers already at start of 4th. We're fortunate to only be down about 10, we can still win this game, but the turnovers make it much harder.

LOL. A little humor never hurts. Honestly I don't completely remember who Eskobar is/was. I guess he hasn't posted much for awhile? Tonight, the Magic play a team with a record not that different from their own. Granted, they're on the road. But this should at least be competitive. I'll be happy, like many others in this forum, if the Magic give us a good, competitive, hard-fought game to watch tonight.

I'm not sure I agree with any of that. But we can differ. I especially don't agree that if we go way into the hole with, for example, 1-9 in the next 10, that we can just turn it back on when we start to play easier teams. Losing tends to create it's own momentum. If we get to like 8-20, I don't believe we'll be close to contending for the 8th playoff seed by the end of the season. Again, we see things differently, but this at least is something that can be determined objectively as we see how the season unfolds. If I'm wrong, I will gracefully eat crow, and congratulate you on being correct. Will others show me the same courtesy?

Sorry if raising an alternative viewpoint makes you feel threatened. Honestly, what is controversial about the statement that Henny is not a proven success at this point? Ultimately GM's are graded upon whether they create winning teams. He hasn't done so yet. Maybe he will, but it's not a done deal at this point. I would think this is obvious.
-
Wow. Where did that come from? Do you read my posts at all? How about discussing points raised instead of trying, very badly, to characterize my posts in general and getting it all wrong. I make one post about Henny perhaps not being a genius, or at least not having been proven a genius GM yet, and get these kinds of responses. Maybe a little bit of insecurity showing?
-
Factually untrue, just look at my last 15 or so posts. There have been more losses than wins so that needs to be taken into account.
-
I could want a winning team. Ultimately that is how Henny will be judged, not by looking separately at each individual move he has made. Hopefully his strategy will pay off, but until it does he hasn't proven anything meaningful. And no, I'm not kidding you.
-
This post would make sense if this was Henny's and JV's first year. But it's the THIRD year. All either one has proven so far is that they can build and coach a losing team. We are hoping that Henny's plans work out over time and that the potential we think we see in some of these players eventually translates into winning. But until that happens, Henny has not proven anything more than JV. To call him a "dream come true" is a huge overstatement in my opinion. Magic have a bunch of tough games coming up. Hopefully they can avoid going 1-9 or something in their next 10 games, and keep this season interesting. They have looked very bad against the better teams.

I agree with everything in this post. Overall, the past few games, except the Washington game, are the best the team has ever looked under Vaughn.

14 assists is a key stat. We were not moving the ball well at all on offense. -
Sometimes seems like we're snakebit. That is totally unexpected.

Oladipo is not getting others involved enough in the offense.
