Look I get not wanting to blow assets on short term gains. But a 2nd round pick is hardly an asset. We can trade a 2024 2nd round pick and in the summer we'll literally be given another 2nd (and first)  pick in the future.

Trading someone like Okeke and a couple 2nds for something is not blowing assets.

If we do nothing, so be it but WeltPark can't be surprised if we don't make the playoffs.

Just do something please. I am really surprised we are keeping Harris also.

Yea, if he's not that bad from the field maybe the game doesn't go to OT and Atlanta win in regulation.

And I'm not going to lie, I think it says something about Dejounte Murray that in a game where Trae Young was absolutely scorching hot, Murray took more shots than him.

My ideal PG isn't really one who thinks "oh Paolo is absolutely cooking tonight, better make sure I get mine as well".

I'm not out on Murray, for the right deal id definitely do it, but that game doesn't do anything to help him in my eyes.

I agree with both of your takes on Murray. He’s the best of the players out there but isn’t perfect by any stretch.  I just happened to see that article about the game since I didn’t watch it and thought I’d provide a little context.  Murray seems like a Laker to me at this point.

Brogdon would more of a get out of Paolos way when he’s cooking type of guy. Him spotting up would help a lot.

Big liability …come on bro …have you seen the numbers for the starting unit ? …The starting unit brought the team back last night against a very good team on a roll at home …I’ll repeat for the hundredth time …nobody knows what this team can do fully healthy …let it play out instead of all this trade stuff …I do think getting a shooter would help …I also think since JI is on a minutes restriction he won’t start …and as we saw last night it’s better for him to finish games when we need him …probably against the better teams or if we’re in a close game …see how we do in the playoffs and we’ll all know what needs to happen to the roster then …GO MAGIC !

Everyone always pushes teams to play like everyone else and subscribe to an orthodoxy. Everyone was probably waiting for the Magic to return to Markelle Fultz and a more traditional lineup to close the game. Perhaps they would have if the Magic were behind and needed to pick up points.

But that lineup had its struggles, too. It allowed Gobert to roam the paint and hunt blocks because of Fultz's hesitancy to shoot from the perimeter -- he still had 10 points because of his willingness to drive and attack and his talent finishing around shot-blockers.

Our Death Line Up won us the game for sure.  But Fultz was a big contributor last night.  No one hates Fultz to be clear.

The defense was unreal. JI and Suggs and Markelle and WCJ as usual but Franz Wagner is the most underrated defensive player on this team by far. His ability to navigate screening actions and get back in front of the ball handler is insane. Thought he was the most important Magic player in this game the way he played on defense.

When Jalen Suggs hits multiple 3s the Magic have always got a chance, not even because of the shooting but for the close outs it forces the defense to make.

Wendell Carter Jr is an absolute beast, no way we trade that man.

Really disliked this Paolo game. Thought his defense was awful in the first half. He played the type of defense where he's trying to not get called out in practice without giving any actual effort. Y'know where he's technically in the right spots to help so his coaches can't complain but then he doesn't actually do anything to stop the ball. He also did far too much complaining about fouls. The playoffs is more like this and he can't just be whining about no calls while his 4 team mates are trying to play defense. I liked that the refs let them play on both ends, thought the officiating was pretty even and they let both teams play physical. I prefer that to watching teams shoot 35 FTs each.

You cannot convince me that Cole Anthony is better than Anthony Black. You just can't. Yes technically Cole is a better scorer but given the choice of:

    A) someone who passes the ball to our best players and spots up whilst playing solid at worst, spectacular at best, defense.

    B) Someone who takes possessions with the ball in his hands that consistently lead to contested pull ups and off balance floaters and who, it feels like, turns the ball over over-dribbling at least once per game. And is a worse defensive player than A.

    I'll take A 100 times out of 100.

I was never a Cole guy but was liking him more at the start of the season. He has really fallen off or regressed to his usual selfish nature. He is just not efficient at all and is down to 32% from three.  It’s too bad he doesn’t have much value and has that poison pill contract.  I’d like to have a starting PG that can shoot and have Fultz run the second unit.  He’s a way better player than Cole despite his lack of shooting.

Scroll to the 1:35 mark …pulls up for a nice 18 footer …kid has played 11 games …I can post vids of him saying the more he plays the more he’ll show more of his game …I fully expect him to start shooting 3’s when applicable very soon …unless he’s gone

Keep him as the back up. He’s better than Cole that’s for sure.

Well what do you think Simons would do if he was here …that’s his point …and when Fultz was hurt I was all about Simons …thought it would help both teams and help open up the floor for my boy Sharpe …but like I said he’s ball dominant …black hole is what they call him and he will put up numbers .

I think Brogdon would help a lot and doesn’t have a long term contract and wouldn't cost much at all. Junkie I’ve read a lot of your posts. You know more about the league than this kid by far. Did you see his exciting players?  Zach LaVine, Buddy Hield, Donovan Mitchell or Gary Trent Jr. were the names he gave.  Zach Lavine would take a hell of a lot of shots away from our two stars.  Buddy Hield is the same age as Brogdon and Bogdanovich.  Trent Jr is a free agent and hasn’t had a great year. Mitchell is the only one without issues to me and he’s going no where.

There is no perfect player. Can we please get some shooting though by trading Harris and a pick?

Writer says avoid Brogdon, Simons and Bogdonovic …Says Simons is high volume and needs the ball in his hands …I can tell you Portland fans complain about this also

This writer doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I disagree with his whole mindset. He’s waiting for some perfect player that doesn’t exist. I especially disliked his thoughts on getting a PG to play make and take the ball out of Paolo and Franz’s hands.

    * With Lillard in, the last spot went (barely) to Banchero over Siakam, Young, Barnes, White and a few others. Banchero's raw numbers -- 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assist -- are right in line with that group. He's a little behind in advanced stats, though not too far from Brown, Adebayo, and Randle -- and neck-and-neck with Brown by some metrics. His shooting numbers are so-so: 45% overall, 35% on 3s after a mini-slump. He takes a ton of tough jumpers and does not make enough to justify the volume.

But the Magic are winning, and Banchero went several games starting alongside Caleb HoustanGoga Bitadze and Chuma Okeke. No one in this group has had to carry a heavier load. Even at full health, the Magic are short in shot creation among their guards.

The Magic's scoring margin being better with Banchero on the bench says almost nothing about him and tons about Orlando's makeshift starting fives. (Two of their most productive players, Cole Anthony and Moritz Wagner, are backups.)

Their second-best player -- Franz Wagner -- plays the same position as Banchero in the same style. On some nights, Banchero is Orlando's point guard and No. 1 scoring option at once. All things considered, he has held up well. He's a good passer and defends hard. His size allows him to guard almost any position -- and to battle on the glass.

Lowe says Banchero is the last guy in and states his reasoning

Most all of the national media guys have him making it in outright. But worst case he will be an injury reserve for sure.

would San Antonio trade with us? they wanted AB really bad in the draft!

so would they trade us Vassell and Johnson for a package around AB?

    Orl get Vassell, Johnson

SAS get AB, Harris, Okeke and 2024 1st pick, 2025 Den pick, also several 2nd round picks

Very interesting trade I hadn’t thought about.

  10. 4. Wendell Carter Jr., reclaiming his place

It was easy to take Carter for granted when the Orlando Magic went 13-7 without him earlier in the season as Carter recovered from injury. Orlando was the feel-good story of the league, its two-headed center of Goga Bitadze and Moritz Wagner the feel-good story-within-the-story.

Carter returned on Dec. 20, scored in single digits in seven of eight games, and then missed five games with knee tendinitis. Executives from other teams wondered if they might be able to steal Carter on the cheap. (How good would he look on the Thunder?)

In six games since returning (again), Carter has reminded Orlando -- if Magic brass needed any such reminder -- why they should hold onto him unless they get a bonkers offer. In those games, Carter is averaging 17.4 points and 7.4 rebounds on 64% shooting -- including 7-of-14 on 3s -- and reasserting himself as their most versatile two-way center. Carter is a ceiling-raiser.

Carter's jump-shooting has always been something of a siren song; he has hit 33% career on 3s and about 38% on long 2s. Carter is still just 24. If he improves his shooting -- if this lasts -- he becomes a different player.

Carter can control his physicality, and he has been meaner since his return. He's jostling for offensive rebounds, sealing off the lane for drivers, mashing smaller players in the post and blowing by slower guys on pump-and-go drives. He has done that in fits and starts in prior seasons before receding into his finesse jump-shooter alter ego.

Carter has been cagey defending the pick-and-roll -- baiting ball handlers into lob passes, and then leaping backward to deflect them. He is fast enough to switch.
